Invisible (Italian) Bind Off for 2x2 Ribbing

How to do Italian bind-off for 2x2 ribbing?
Note: Remember to work the previous row on smaller needles.
Set up:
Insert a tapestry needle through the first knit stitch purlwise and pull the yarn through.
Go behind the first two knit stitches and place the tapestry needle between the knit and the purl stitches, pulling the yarn to the front.
Insert the tapestry needle through the purl stitch knitwise and pull through to the back of the work.
1. Insert the tapestry needle knitwise through the first knit stitch and slip it off the knitting needle.
2. Insert the tapestry needle purlwise into the second knit stitch and pull the yarn through. Leave the stitch on the knitting needle.
3. Go behind the knit stitch and insert the tapestry needle purlwise into the first purl stitch.
4. Go through the second purl stitch knitwise and take the yarn to the back.
5. Insert the tapestry needle into the first knit stitch knitwise and slip it off the knitting needle.
6. Bring the tapestry needle into the front, skipping two purl stitches, and insert it into the next knit stitch purlwise. Pull the yarn through.
7. Slip the first purl stitch off the knitting needle.
8. Go through the second purl stitch purlwise and slip it off the knitting needle.
9. Go behind the two knit stitches and insert the tapestry needle from the back between the knit and the purl stitches. Pull the yarn to the front.
10. Insert the tapestry needle into the purl stitch knitwise and pull the yarn through.
Repeat steps 1 - 10 to the end of the row.

Hi, I'm Hanna Maciejewska.
My grandmother taught me how to knit when I was a little girl, then my sister showed me how to make my first sweater. I knit sweaters all the time in school and university-mostly my own creations-but only about 10 years ago realized that knitting and designing knitwear is truly my biggest passion.
Together with my husband Daniel, we run an online store dyedyedone.com with yarns hand dyed by Daniel, as well as interesting knitting accessories.
I am also the proud mother of a beautiful teenage girl who sometimes draws things for me to knit.
I love nature, our garden, dogs, cats, alpacas, and everything that is hand-made…

Thanks for this instructive video, and for the written explanation of the single steps that are spaces 10 second wise, so that it‘s easy to repeat watching them over and over again. Very convenient!

Once you realise that all the stitches are twisted compared to how most do them, this video is actually really good!

I watched several other videos on this technique, and this was the one that finally helped me understand! Thanks!

This was not easy for me. Your explanations were confusing to me since you didn't mention to purl trough the back loop but just advise to purl. I think you are knitting and purling normally trough the back loop as well?

I'm confused too. When the text says "as if to knit," the needle in the video is not going the direction I'd be going, through the loop I'd be going through, if I were going to knit. Same problem when the text says "as if to purl." The video is fairly easy to follow, but the words really mess me up. Maybe consider revising your text.

The stitches appear to be mounted backwards so it is the correct way but it looks wrong. I think the video is helpful despite that and the slightly fuzzy yarn.
