Invincible and the Insane Manchild Echo Chamber

Фильм және анимация

Finally, Jeeves.
Guys thank you for watching. This video is my overall thoughts on invincible combined with my final manbaby analysis. I did level up mentally after that invincible video. I learned that there is no changing the internet and no point in trying to show people their insecurities. You can't change manbabies. But this video is meant to solidify the truth before I move on. Yes, I did watch invincible, yes I did understand invincible, and Yes, you are a manbaby for getting offended at an opinion. I am solidifying that a normal person is smarter, more knowledgeable, and more mature than a manbaby. I will move on. But never think it's because I changed my mind. My message will always be to improve as a person. But I can only hope you do. I realize it's a waste of my channel to spend time on that.
I am putting this video in your hands and it's up to you to judge it
But yeah animal well is out. Go play it.
I'm gonna start making the videos I've been wanting to make. It's already been 5 months since the year started. And I'm here for a good time, not a long time.
But yeah thanks guys

My problem with RSG is that he almost never shows things he actually likes and is soooo pretentious, jokingly or not. He's one of those channels that's basically just a rage bait it feels like since he's never doing anything positive or taking things seriously. And whenever he is seemingly being positive or trying to be serious it always feels so sarcastic and not genuine at all. He just never seems like he can have a genuine conversation since he's always filing his videos with tasteless jokes, complaining, mocking, dumb voices and attempts to try to be funny. He never gives real criticisms on how the things he complains about so much can be better. Not to mention the fact he just insults his own audience a lot. Like he genuinely acts like he can never be wrong and there really is no self-awareness.

Now don't get this wrong I actually have watched RSG for a while and even like some of his videos since I think they're funny. But I'm not going to lie Colin has obliterated you and really pointed out your flaws. You act like you're never wrong, never take things seriously interest in salt everything and are so overly pretentious and negative.

Brother no one is arguing that invincible is some kind of high brow deep cut writing. But things don't need that to be good. Invincible is simple, but it is good at being simple and does a good job at roping you in. It is fine to say you don't like invincible but to call it objectively bad is overkill. Here for example, it is clear you like red dead redemption 2, yes red dead redemption 2 has a very good story but it is one of the only games I would never replay because it is slow. I would say that I enjoyed the game but I like other games with "worse" stories more because they are good at doing what they do.

I think you have articulated your points very nicely in this video, but I do have to point out that you comparing the end of invincible season 2 with the end of the boys season 1 is unfair. In invincible, this whole sequence is taking straight up from the comics (to a surprising level too) and the invincible comics have been concluded a long time ago, while the boys show has only been out there in recent memory. I also wouldn't think that the boys riped that idea of invincible, I believe that it's just a coincident, and that both writing teams came up with the same idea on there own.

It's perfectly fine. RSG mentioned it a lot in this video. First of all - media is subjective and you can have fun with whatever you want. Secondly, Invincible isn't a god awful show, it's just flawed at different aspects, that don't even take away too much from awesome ideas this show has. And it's even more healthy that you consider different opinions while honoring your own.

I thought about it, and I noticed how you're a bit of a hypocrite. You go on and make a full on 30 min video (not to mention your other vids where you talk about your haters) on why these guys are manchildren, and while you might be right to some degree, the fact that you can't just ignore them and accept the fact that there will always be someone who disagrees shows how you can't move on. Who cares if some kid says "never let bro cook again"? Ignore them, and focus more on better things. I understand why you dislike this behavior, but you don't need to make a 30 min video to explain that to us. TL;DR It's ok to not like haters, but you don't need to hate on them back for 30 minutes straight. Just ignore them.

watching the intro while coming down from ketamine is an extreme sport I actually like the robot clone scene a lot. What makes it work for me is that Rudy very clearly knew going in that there is no actual 'coin flip', just a new mind separate from the original, IE he himself was never going to live in a normal body. But he goes through with it anyway and willingly gives his life so that his clone could experience what he could not. And what makes it doubly work is that the clone doesn't wallow in guilt, he immediately accepts the original's call for him to live life to the fullest and doesn't look back once. They could have easily fucked it up by having the new Rudy go through a season-long boring ass arc about overcoming the guilt, but they didn't, because that wouldn't be in character. It was a surprisingly moving scene for such a boring sideplot.

The super speed not being used, side plots, horrible animation, and a lot of it just makes me not want to watch the show but when it comes to those actual good plot lines where i'm somewhat engaged then that's what kept me watching season 2 and onward. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I personally like Invincible. While I agree the animation has big problems, the music is just there and most of the writing is meh but I really enjoy the direction of the story. I think some of the side plots are interesting or ant least good enough to not skip through and they make the world feel bigger more lived in but some of them are just bad. The sequid storyline was the worst in my opinion and nothing interesting happens with it later in the comics. The best side story in my opinion was the one with titan but even then I still get why other people would consider it boring. The main story is the best part and so far in the show it’s been minimal, I think what hurts the most to me is knowing how much better the story gets later on in the comic. There are less boring side plots and some actually great ones, the main story gets more focus and Mark becomes a better character and is way more compelling and interesting. After thinking about it, I 100% understand and somewhat agree all of your points, I can’t completely explain it but I still like the show for what it is, 6/10.

The problem isn’t that he doesn’t like Invincible, the problem is he doesn’t elaborate on his points and expects people to just take his word for it. The part where he said “I’m not critiquing Invincible, I’m reviewing it” shows he has no idea what he’s talking about.

If it wasn’t what popped up on Twitter people wouldn’t be so passionate about it. After all its seasons have run through and we’ve been given a few years to process the show as a whole, I think your criticisms of what we have now may be more widely accepted. Avatar the Last Airbender ended a decade and a half ago, people still defend it now because its writing actually holds up, not because it’s the trendiest show ever right now. invincible fumbles a LOT of stuff but complaining that other characters are distracting from Mark isn't really a valid criticism when one of the points of the story is that it's a "reinterpretation" of super hero stories, which very commonly have a wider universe behind them. This larger setting is the reason you find Mark's focus on his stupid selfish girlfriend or his irrelevent college career to be dumb, because it is dumb when there are obviously much bigger fish to fry. The valid criticism would be that these subplots are written like ass and some of the changes from the comic make the story objectively worse, like the drama between Mark and Amber being ruined by her sociopathic manipulation that's NEVER BROUGHT UP AGAIN.

I realized the other day that the plot isn’t just the idea of a super cool thing that unfolds but it’s the consequence of the decisions your characters make based on their personalities. If you don’t have any clue what your character's personality is then your story is going to crash and burn cause your characters aren’t well thought out. What’s cancerous is that I think a lot of people don’t even realize this like I shamefully didn’t before and it’s just cause we have tons of stories that have these fundamental issues.

Perhaps I am too biased but subtly only makes or breaks something for me if it's uninteresting to me. If everything else is good, I can overlook the lack of subtly. When people say "Art is subjective" what I think people really mean is that what we interpret from the artist's intention is subjective, but using that as a defense is not useful at all. Liking a piece of art will always be a subjective thing, and nobody can take that away from anyone else. I love TASM2. I also agree that TASM2 is a poorly written story. Those two things can coexist, otherwise the term "so bad it's good" wouldn't hold much meaning if the quality is nebulous and just up to someone. Having standards for storytelling quality is important, and having these standards isn't guaranteed to make a story dull. There's also a case to be made for words and how we use them, which brings me to my next point: There is a difference between excitement and fun. I had fun with Dune Part 1 while many people found it boring. Excitement would be how much action is in a movie. For example a movie like John Wick is exciting, because of all the action. But whether someone has fun with it or not will be completely subjective, and that is completely fine. At first glance, separating the words "fun" and "exciting" and assigning the meaning objective and subjective onto them sounds like a futile thing considering they're synonymous, but this strategy is used to properly determine what people mean in a useful manner by explaining what people mean when they say something was boring and describe why it'd be a detriment. As a writer, I find it useful when assessing media quality, avoiding plot holes, contrivances, inconsistent characterization and worldbuilding, because this challenges me to make my story as interesting and exciting as possible, while trying to keep the audience's interest. It's a daunting task, but it's rewarding, especially when you know for a fact that you crafted a story that has so many things to analyze while also maintaining believability, which is what a lack of problems would provide. I can guarantee that no piece of art will be perfect, nobody is. But abandoning the strive for perfection just because it's too hard or because it's unachievable is a defeatist mindset that I refuse to accept. Not to say any of these things were argued in this video, but it's something I think is important to keep in mind

Hello! I think (with multiple video proof, lol), that you read comments. I really appreciate it. You do bring objectively valid points. But if before I was kinda bored watching side-plots in invincible season 1 and disappointed in the last episodes of season 2, I still liked the artistic intent behind all that, looking at the show purely as an adaptation of another medium, not really thinking about it being a show on its own. Therefore I just didn't notice most of the dumb things happening (for example - the lack of urgency in portal scene. I just thought that "the wacky multiverse adventures" were what they wanted to show from the beginning and I was simply enjoying the ride. I think I was looking at it from the point of "what the author tried to show", not really thinking about what actually was happening). And you ruined all of that for me. Damn, I feel betrayed. It's eyeopening and extremely sad, that even if the artists intent sounds good and they show it exactly with minor tweaks, the end product is still bad somehow after all! About artistic intent: there you go, a video idea! (forgive me father for I have sinned of telling the other person to do what I'm too lazy to). In minions: the rise of Gru there were two separate movies mish-mashed into a single one. One is a prequel about Gru becoming a supervillain (feels like it was the original idea for this film). And the other movie is "Minions 2" (feels like it never got a finished script. It just is compiled out of random quests.) And "the Gru part" has all the points of a real film (the mentor part was a whole movie), but it speedruns those points. While the "minions" plotline is completely disconnected (and bad, lol). So, what I'm trying to say: there was an awesome artistic intent behind it and I could clearly see two scripts behind all the layers of fluff -- one is a great story about Gru, and other is a corporate minion-money-grub story. In contrast to Invincible, the artistic intent here is ruined, and I could easily see why the film was bad. Sorry for making you think about minions 2 again.

I've had some people trying to argue with me over objective statements because I'm coming from a different opinion so anything I say must automatically be wrong.

@Ineverbotheredtochangemyname I've watched both videos, and I'd say both are overly emotive. Colin was throwing ad hominem insults through the whole video and seemed upset to me.

@Ineverbotheredtochangemyname just realized I had some poor wording in my comment and wanted to clarify when I said "both videos" I meant I watched this RSG2 video and Colin's response video to it not both of Colin's videos. Either way, I just think this whole thing is petty on both sides tbh.
