I love these walks down memory lane, and hearing about what Arroz observes! It seem that, like humans, they're all related, somehow!

I always thought Taggy was a bit of a jerk, but it turns out he was just hangry all the time. Poor guy, now I feel bad for judging him so harshly.

Wow that’s some cool information and well put together . Poor Taggy that collar must have a real nuisance . What a relief it must have been to have it off. Such a small thing a human as done to put a collar on him and see how much it has changed his life .now no collar but skinny and fixed .glad he has family who welcomes him. Just as a note I still think Libby as a sweet face .Thank you for sharing ARROZ .🌺🌼🐵🌻🌸🐒💐🦋👀

Good job putting all the pieces of that puzzle together! It is sad how skinny and most likely malnurished Taggy became from that horrible large tag kept on him for far too long. How can they justify an archaic tag that size that prevents them from using their pouches? Someone didn't think the whole thing through very well did they? I sincerely hope they never use those old, overly large tags on any other monkeys. It is just not healthy and actually cruel to use them. Thanks for another great video!

Yes, I do. I always felt sorry for Taggy with that miserable thing around his neck. It didn't occur to me that it would impede his eating. He does seem less irritable now, and no wonder. It's sweet to see the softer side of the Tagman, it makes me like him all the more. ;)

What a cute scene where Wibby was grooming Taggy. He finally jumps off the stump and walks off and Wibby is just sitting there...looking around... She looked like she wasn't sure what the heck to do after that, like maybe it was a really big moment for her. I watched her over and over trying to guess what was on her mind. She didn't look heartbroken, she didn't look relieved either. She seemed to just be sitting there trying to take it all in and appreciate it. I really like how Arroz can so well differentiate these guys even when they've aged years. I find it amazing. I wouldn't even recognize Dopey and I watched every moment of the Wonder Years series. Sometimes I can tell who's who but it's more like a process of elimination thing than an actual recognition of one's features. I can barely do that with humans! LOL Great vid, as always Arroz.

Ive been watching Arroz 's channel for about a year now. My interest in macaques first came out of my viewing of Monkey Thieves on Netflix. Then it was really piqued from Disney's The Monkey Kingdom(Toque Macaques) and PBS's Snow Monkeys. After a brief stint on KZread and viewing random selections that seemed to all be at Angkor Wat I have found that Arroz & JW (Rhesus) and Kiyo (Japanese) are the purest and truest documentations of macaques. If any of y'all know of other channels documenting free roaming macaques, chimps, langurs, etc. please reply. I am so grateful to Arroz's work as well as the other 2 i've mentioned. If you haven't seen the full feature docs listed above I highly recommend them. They are great with their own stories of individuals and families within the troop while superbly detailing the troop hierarchy. One question I have for Arroz is who exactly is 'Our Gang'? Is it Bossy's troop? I always hear you speak of the troops; Rag Tag, Bossy's, Skullhead's, Nora's & Lowina's but I haven't yet been able to pinpoint who exactly is 'our gang'. Thanks from a real fan of your am360view.com site and your youtube channel.

It was nice seeing this loving side to Taggy. But he should get a pass those times he was cranky. I get claustrophobic just thinking about that collar digging into him. He really was muscular. I too hope he gains some of it back. Thanks so much Arroz. Great video as always.

Wow, by all of your observation we have learned some fascinating info between the troops! Wasn't it mentioned in the past (by the way it was looking)that there was a possible but yet, good chance that Ragtag and our troop may join together at some point in the future? Well I guess that would explain why both troops get along so well with each other as a whole and overall! Very interesting... I guess it would also then lay to rest of any possible suspicion of the two ever joining as one since that would/could never actually happen since some are actually family members. Right? Due to cross breeding. Am I wrong? Ps. I know this sounds silly for me to say but Ive always have wondered how they actually communicate to one another other in general other than a random two second lip smacking back and forth or is that how they actually communicate to each other? Also, for example when it's getting close to the time for a male to leave the troop, (I assuming the mother of the male and the other older monkeys wait until they start seeing the full signs of him hitting his prime puberty etc.and they some how let him know he has to go And or do they some how instinctively just know?! Monkeys don't communicate (or so we don't know) with one another face to face or all that often other than a random alert cackle or when they of course have their small bickers like some other animals do. I guess we automatically just assume it's not like mum monkey has a talk with her 5 yr old male son "son...say your good byes to everyone because tomorrow morning you have to leave our troop, its time you move along because your at that age and your also been trying to hump everyone in our troop (I'm joking) lately. But we don't really know.. I'd love to actually know...

After watching your videos for quite a while now and being familiar with Taggy, I knew he was sterilized and of course, the collar! I never really thought about how horrible living with that collar day in and day out, would be. Unable to eat properly, sleep properly, the rubbing and chafing, not being able to do so many normal monkey activities and some impediment to breathing at times, I am sure. Poor Taggy to have had to endure it for so long. Arroz, or anyone who might know, there seems to be quite a lot of "aunties" between the troops. I mean there are several in Bossy's troop. I wonder if their sterility is as a result of earlier government sterilization programs or whether it is likely more just natural conception issues? It seems a bit high for natural conception problems given that Bossy's troop is under a hundred monkeys. I think Arroz said about 80? It was great to see everyone when they were younger and happy to know that there is a chance that Bobby may join another troop near by and be able to come home and visit his mum, aunties and siblings. I hope for that.

Le Rigby I think the collar was a tracking device. I do not think it had anything to do with his fertility. It was obviously old so I think they used the opportunity to remove it while he was already under anesthesia.

What was the purpose of putting a GPS on Taggy? ANd who was the genius that thought a collar the blocked use of his pouches was a good idea? That is close to torture and slow starvation for a monkey. I can understand the need to tag a higher level male to see where the troop is moving and what the territory is and all that , but there are a number of tags that are made for use with monkeys that will not interfere with pouches or even go around the neck. Of course, the proper tagging methods are a bit more expensive than the old fashion cat color (used mainly to track large cats and sometimes bears or grass eaters like deer and elk etc which I don't believe hang around the outskirts of Hong kong too often). Putting that type of monitor on a monkey proves that whoever came up with that idea as zero knowledge about what they are doing and should be exposed for having done that. That is nothing short of criminal animal abuse. How can they say that these are protected animals and the do something like that? One thing we have learned about external GPS on Monkeys. even the better types that were made into harnesses back before they could use embedded GPS, is that putting any type of harness on a monkey would mark them as different to the troop and they were then immediately treated as suspect (of what we are not sure) and often lost ranking and often mates due to it, not to mention that it would cause problems during grooming sessions and often caused skin damage and breakdown especially if the monkey gained weight and the straps got too tight. The approved tracking programs, and tehya re few and far between as setting one up that are fair to primates means using internal GPS which are more expensive and require a bit of surgery and that the monkey should be monitored every 6 months to make sure that its not working its why out of the body or the monkey is not picking at incision sight or a groomer does this. For the most part just having people on the ground checking out a troop and being able to identify a monkey by sight that they want to track movements ha actually seem to provide better data as the tracker can not just not position but what is in the environment where they are sighted, where just a GPS signal will not tell you anything except position. WIth just a GPS location you don't know if they are with the troop, in a territory that their troop seems to control, in a feeding area or a resting area or a 'home' location. make you really wonder what they are trying to do to 'protect' these animals and if they have a clue how to do this or if they even know what data they are looking for when they are collecting it..
