Introduction to Yawara Stick - Bug Out Bag - Self Defense for Everyone - Kubaton
I explain what a Yawara Stick is and the basic moves to using it. I also talk about target areas, critical target zones and it's effectiveness.
Here is the link I talk about about the old Yawara Police Training Manual::

My girlfriend has a box of yawara sticks under her bed. I just can't figure out why they require batteries.

I made one with a thumb hole, out of Brazilian cherry. The thumb end is blunt, and the other has a blunted pyramid-like point. I trust it more than a knife, because impacts are felt under adrenaline, while cuts are not, and it's much easier to justify the use of a pointy stick. With enough force, the pointed end will certainly do horrific soft tissue damage. I'm pretty sure a heavy blow to the shoulder area, or the front of the thigh, will cause so much pain and trauma that the affected limb will have limited use. The limbs tend to become temporarily paralyzed when extreme trauma has been done in a single impact. I've experienced that personally. 😅
Damn now I'm gonna go whittle one of those out and add it to all the other crap I carry around every day. I had no idea what they were. Thanks for the info. Another good incognito defense weapon is a carabiner. You can stick em on the outside of all your bags and no one looks twice at them because they have a lot of uses but they also make a good improvised brass knuckle.
Keeping it simple; keeping it real. I've got a tactical pen, a flashlight and I found rolling up 12-15 pieces of junk-mail makes a solid piece of wood that can be used for defence and then un-sticky-taped and thrown to the wind. Thank you for a down-to-earth video.
Thanks. I ordered a pink (yuck) Gnegni coin "pouch" that's similar to a sap/blackjack, and a flower-y Munio "keychain" that's like a kubaton/yawara--on Amazon. Cali. laws are unreasonable, which is why I wanted harmless-looking objects. Next on my list is pepper spray in a--I kid you not--glitter pink container.
Thanks I never heard of this I'm going to get one to carry in my bag and one for my sister.
A lot of respect to you Sir. If I was 19, had the athletic abilities of Lebron James; I still won't like to face you in a hand to hand combat. *LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC. GOD BLESS AMERICA, ISRAEL AND INDIA*
Great video. Thank You
my wife already has one in the drawer beside the bed. no wait a minute. .. that is for something else
i always carry a small asp baton.
I see where this was posted a few years ago, I'm curious if you did make any of these for sale? I still have one from the early '80's but it's about half of the diameter yours seem to be. Great video, once again! Thank you as always!
Those black ones are from Coldsteel. Really cheap.

I figured it out. (1) The key words are used when a citizen is trying to tell the truth to get away from a corrupt prosecutur. (2) The key words are used by a cop to lie in cahoots with a corrupt prosecutor. So, in a sense, the key words are a tool of a corrupt system and an innocent citizen is using that against the system, is one way of thinking about it. Then, there are other possibilities like good cops using them to tell the truth, but truthfully, that is never the way anyone talks about them.
Thanks
I'm just 16 and I find myself in dangerous situations in school at the mercy of bullies, is it a good idea to use something like a yawara stick or short palm stick to defend myself?

learn to fight, bullies only pick on people that don't fight back.

@Knife Nut A steel prybar, hacksaw, and a file... In less than an hour, you can fashion a yawara stick that's far sturdier than wood and capable of a much more solid impact.
Do you have any to get ride of?? I would like one or more. Thanks as always.

Andy R too much time to hand make them. You can find them on line, seach Wooden Yawara stick or palm sticks, here is a link to one place. www.yawarastick.com/store/yawara-stick

I'm curious about those. I saw on another channel they made something similiar out of metal that was a bit thinner, more like the thickness of an artliner pen and it had the spikey ends and grooves along it. they didnt explain it very well, but it was supposedly good enough to be able to press into the pressure point on their arm just below their wrist and hurt them enough to be able to flip them over your arm. But if I can't buy one anywhere around the place (which I highly doubt, given australia's stupid neo liberal attitude to everything - they even want to ban knives and make the people who need to have them : scout leaders, abseilers, bushmen etc have to get a license, how ridiculous.) I'll make my own anyway on my mate's wood lathe. keep the cool vids coming, even though some of the laws are different in Australia (we are basically under the british westminster system, with some changes here and there, alot of it still applies) I'm hoping to go over to the states sometime next year and get to finally fire an AR15 and go to shot show maybe, peace, Tom.

shoominati23 It sounds like you are explaining a kubaton (cu baton) google them, same principle works about the same, a little thinner so harder to grip and get as much power but effective.

Yawara isnt a Kubaton .
I tried flying with my gun on carryon. I told them it was not a weapon but a religious talisman and they did not believe me. They tossed it into a gun shredder then gave it back in pieces in a ziplok bag. Telling them a lie dodnt work.
