Hi, I am a longtime DirecTV subscriber. One thing that keeps me from cutting the cord and going to 100% streaming is I am a sports writer and need to record content to DVD for my archive/private use. I have not found a streaming device that I can connect to a DVD recorder and legally record content to discs as I can from my DVR. Does Tivo have this ability. If I could connect my recorder to a streaming device, (I primarily use Roku and Apple TV), I would likely sign up for either DirecTV’s live TV streaming or another live TV streaming option because I spend a lot of time streaming content anyway, but with the need to still record to discs, it is an issue for me. With everything going streaming, I am trying to gather as much information as I can in anticipation of eventually transitioning fully. I would also like to know if TIvo has ESPN and DAZN in their available apps. Thanks for your time and any information you might have.

Nov. 5, 2022. is the tivo edge OTA with no monthly fees still supported? and still provides OTA guide?

When You Order, On The Channel Master Site, As Long As It States - This model does NOT require additional fees. An all-in subscription to TiVo service is included with this model (service for the life of the device including ownership transfer) You Should Be Fine

Does Disney+ work? That is what I want to work.

Soooo, I have charter cable with no DVR. Am I able to record my paid for cable on this box? I’m confused whether this is a subscription or a DVR. Do I pay monthly?

You pay extra for the Tivo Service, which is around 15 bucks a month. Or you can do lifetime of thedvr which is more. it works with most cable companies just call your cable company and ask for a Cable Card

So you're able to utilize this even if you cut the cord? I still have my 6 year old Lifetime roamio. It's going to have to impress me to upgrade.

They separated them into two different versions so they can make more money. Used to be you cold use one Tivo for either.

I had the TiVo Roamio OTA and upgraded to the Bolt OTA and was absolutely disappointed. Didn't seem like an upgrade at all. Same shit, different box! Same with this thing, a little better than the Bolt... Yes but STILL no Google Assistant, CBS All Access, Google Play Music, KZread Music Etc... I could go on, so disappointing.

Ok I am not OCD or anything but I hated the previous form factor with the bent chassis design and now this one seems like a stacked pair of boxes that is just not straight. While I am not necessarily totally OCD that sort of thing will drive people nuts....people like me.....who don't admit to being more than a little OCD :). One final thing here, I hope the LIKE and DISLIKE buttons come back and I also hate that my TiVo no longer "knows me" - where my early 2000's model would find some program that comes on at 2am on some far flung channel and my TiVo suggestions was a list of programs it matched to my preferences....my more modern Roamio just would record the most god awful content (Real Housewives of wherever) - not at all what we watch or enjoy. By losing the preferences and program matching auto recording the TiVo just becomes another DVR. I will likely move to the Edge - was waiting for them to lose that bent chassis and give me a real reason to leave my totally functioning Roamio.

Can I roll back the shitty/useless new UI to the original Tivo UI?

If your TiVo came with the old UI (TE3) yes you can roll back to it. Just keep in mind all your recordings will be lost. The newer TiVo's like the VOX or the Edge that came with TE4 cannot go back to TE3.

That's what keeps me from upgrading my hardware... can't stomach going to the new interface. Everyone seems to HATE it

Wtf is that ugly offset stack. I went to your site to upgrade and hate it so bad we are not upgrading. It looks like books that are not stacked right. I will read books before I buy this.
