Great video! This helped me decide to go ahead and try one.

The remote is honestly my favorite about this device, I was able to sync it to other android devices. The channel buttons and the number buttons were what I needed for channel surfing. The device is pretty pretty snappy, the bittorrent tv can be slow on other devices without 2gb of ram.

Anyone out there know if this tivo 4k dongle can integrate (upload somehow) the guide info from a Roamio with lifetime service if I connect the two together via usb port? Or plug the tivo 4k dongle's hdmi into the Roamio?

I just picked one up on sale from Amazon to replace the Xiaomi Mi Box (3) we had in the bedroom. I'm a fan of the Android TV OS, and we're on the Google ecosystem, so I was looking for an Android TV 4K streamer that wasn't going to cost as much as the Nvidia Sheild TV we have in the living room. So far I like it. The two things it has going for it is showing you what is across multiple streaming services, and number buttons. Number buttons you say?! I am able to integrate the local channels from my HD Homerun and Pluto TV into the Live Channels app - which you can do on most Android TV boxes. However, with the number buttons I can type in a channel number instead of having to scan the whole TV Guide and get to a specific channel. That's a pretty nice feature when there are over 250 channels.

What was the song used in Tivo's commercial for 2020.

Anyone try loading and using the Directv app on this tivo 4k dongle? Does it work well with the Directv app?

Does this work with Ethernet adapter? For example Google's adapter for chromecast?

Does it work with current tivo devices like a mini?

How do you set the picture to full screen on TiVo

Is there a streaming device that integrates HULU+Live the way this Tivo does with Sling? I love Hulu+L.... and I loved Tivo for years but Hulu's interface blows

Does this device integrate a TiVo OTA channel guide into a linear guide? If so, does it integrate it within the SlingTV linear guide?

Very good and thorough review ! Can you please review Mi Box S ? I thought it was a great and cheap 4k streaming device but I recently heard that ot is full of bugs and bloatware. Also Mi Stick is coming out sometime this year so a price reduction might happen. I am sure this will be an interesting topic to cover and analyze.

It's from the new update to pie. If u get the device and it had 8.1 then leave it alone and i can guarantee u won't have issues

@@anshulkini419 the main issue I have with xiaomi's android tv devices are that they don't support dolby vision, which is a deal breaker for me, honestly I'd rather have stream 4k no contest for that reasons alone

USB C connection on the device for possible external storage? What uses this if anything?

Now almost everything uses USB C. It allows for faster data transfer. That's especially good for 4K media. If you have a device that uses an older standard, like micro USB, you can use an adapter. Devices that don't use the USB C standard won't give you faster data transfer, though.

Its great once i loaded the update it has CBS All Access integrated. Amazon has it now faster delivery.

KZread TV DOES have an app in it, though. Your description on "integration" makes sense to me as someone who's researched the hell out of this stuff, but maybe not to joe schmo who wanted a little more information about the device.

How do I erase a letter when logging into Hulu if I misspelled a word using the keyboard ?

I bought this device for my office TV because even though I already have a couple of Apple TVs I wasn't going to spend $180 for the small TV in that room just so I could get HBO Max on that TV. Honestly, I'm not that big of a fan of the device. I have had to reboot it several times because it freezes and the power button on the remote will only work some of the time. Also, while the setup process wasn't difficult for me it was a bit more involved than any of the other devices I've tried out. When HBO Max comes to Roku and Fire TV I will be selling this device.

Disable screen saver tell it to open never that will solve the wake issue if not go into developer and look for that option and toggle it. And make sure everything is updated 😊

You need to do a comparison video between Tivo and the new Chromecast

If you don't have a 4K tv can you still use this?

Yes. You can use this with any HD TV that has a free HDMI port.

Soon this device will be competing with the new Google branded Android TV dongle (code named Sabrina). It will be running the latest Android TV OS (unlike my Sony TV). It may have some exclusive features not found on other Android TV devices, like Google does with its Pixel phones. I'm looking forward to seeing it in action. The price hasn't been revealed, but it's estimated to cost about $80. If the TiVo stays around $50-$60 then it might do OK competing against the underpowered MiBox. But if it actually goes up to $80 then it might have a hard time against Google's device.

Is it possible to get AT&T TV Now on this?

I was a real Tivo fan for many years. Their UI and remote were such a joy to use. I'm sure the UI would look aged now. Was all excited at this review, but then realized Tivo did a bonehead move like they always do and handcuffed themselves to Sling and excluded KZreadTV and others. DOH

Normally, I'd agree about the Sling thing. But with YT TV and Fubo raising prices, and Sling guaranteeing no price increase through at least August next year, they might be more attractive again like they were before. We'll see. (Still, it'd be nice to have more options on the TiVo integration front.)

@@ReviewsOrg I've not used Sling so I will take your word there. But Tivo has done so many dumb things IMO. They had undoubtedly the best DVR, but chose to go the path of trying to be exclusive not license their tech. They should have licensed their DVR tech to CableCos and cheap DVR makers for minor cost to make their stuff ubiquitous. If they licensed it cheaper than Cox,Charter,ATT could make their own DVRs and UIs, then they would have become household name and prob raked in milllions and millions. They they would have had the bank to be a contender in streaming. This is a promising step, but given their lower standing in the streaming market, why would they lock themselves in to just Sling's live TV offering? Bad biz move IMO.

So glad finally some legit android tv sticks. Took long enough but prob hold out for the Google one for same price. Own a fire stick for the price but hate the interface.

Well now that you guys have an android tv device (that isn't currently in a building you can't get into) would you mind making a hidden gems app video for the platform just like you did with Roku and Fire TV recently?

Unfortunately that's one of major downsides of having a contract free tv service, the providers can basically raise your rates as much as they want, though in fairness at least they usually raise prices along with adding new channels

The biggest frustration in leaving cable is the price - not the content. As we move to 'streaming', or 'cord-cutting', the powers that be try to trick us into paying the highest 'low cost' we will tolerate. jumping around, and willingness to 'swap out A for B', is the only way consumers can force competition.

I have been using the device about a month. Have had problems with buffering on Facebook and KZread directly when watching my church service on Sunday. But not with the stream device. Great quality.

You could probably getaway with just subscribing to the youtube channels of the news networks your interested in and just turn on notifications for alerts

I bought the device from Amazon now Available at Walmart

Dolby Atmos was obviously not tested since it’s not working as advertised. There are known bugs which were not addressed.

You failed to mention this is locked in HDR mode (Rec 2020) which makes watching SDR content unwatchable in my opinion! I would also say that 95% of the content one may watch from HBO Max Sling or for that matter Netflix and Hulu is all in SDR! Tivo did say a fix was coming back in mid June but nothing yet and it won't even be an Auto HDR switching feature! its kinda a dealbreaker and I would give this a 2.8 out of 5. The throughput with my ATT fiber is very good however and clocking in at around 365 mbps down.

As someone who doesn't use Slingtv and owns this device I personally believe that's a bit of an exaggeration, I'm perfectly happy with just using KZreadTV instead, and compared to the roku device I was using before KZreadTV performs much better anyway, I'd say Slingtv integration is more of a nice addition, more than it is a requirement if you were considering getting this device

I am curious most of you think now? Because the ones they now sell are a piece of junk and don’t work worth beans. I had to send two brand new ones back, because they didn’t work on four different name brand TVs.

Just FYI it takes 40 minutes to setup. Easy setup but time consuming.

KZreadTV works great on this device if that's what you're asking about, coming from a roku previously KZreadTV is much is indistinguishable from just using cable TV for me, when before it wouldn't even give constant playback at 480p

Hey Guys. You might need to just stay with your cable company even thought the cable price is jacked up high. KZreadtv was just $40.00 at one time. And now it's almost 70.00. The more you cut the cord using fire tv or whatever device... You will want prime video then netflix. Then you might want shudder or maybe you might want starz at whatever price in the they offer. Add them all. You are paying about the same as your local cable company. No matter what. 😷

@@EpicGamerWinXD69 The problem Is they're hiking base price to add these channels when they could've just negotiated to make them optional package bundles and everyone wins. It makes no sense to force that on customers.

This vid doesn't get a 'like' from me cuz it fails to mention monthly fees, which are the bane of my existence. Imho, the whole point of cord cutting is to eliminate recurring fees. I'll pay more for a device that lets me do that.

Pointless as whos gonna pay for all of those streaming services, cost a fortune.. i just have iptv with all the movies and tv shows from different platforms for fraction of the cost...not to mention all the tv channels from around the world

Why do you kick old people to the curb? Most can barely use a phone.
