@mysweetperspective I hope people go back and watch The Passage 2019. It starred a black 12 year old vampire girl played by Saniyya Sidney and I was picturing her as Claudia trapped in a little girls body. The whole time, she is showcasing her chemistry with a 45 years old white man named Zack Morris. It deserved better ratings but it was on Fox.

I believe Lestat’s account on how Claudia was made and about the fight, but he also had to say things that were scripted. He just went off script several times. Notice the obvious discrepancy when he says he slept for 100 years, but we know he was present when Donizetti wrote Don Pasquale, so he could not have been asleep for 100 years.

I think the whole point is that everyone, for different reasons, is an unreliable narrator. I don't believe for one second that Louis was the one who hunted Lestat in the beginning and I don't believe that Lestat actually believes it either. Maybe that's how he justifies what he'd done to Louis, by saying that he freed him from a life of unacceptance with the dark gift. But they establish these lies right off the bat so that when it gets to the events of changing Claudia and the horrific fight, we're questioning everything.

The whole thing was armon's idea to get Louie to himself. He just used Santiago. Just like he used lestat to revamp the vampires. He killed 3 birds with one stone . 1 he gets a clean vet away from the theater. 2 he gets rid of Claudia. 3 he makes sure Louie hates lestat via Claudia's death so that doors closed forever. Armon the mastermind

Armand is the oldest vampire who has crafted his dark gifts, Armand could've stop it but he didn't, Armand choose not to step in to save Claudia and Madeline; in his mind he knows for Louie Claudia would be his priority. Armand is stuck on stupid love with Louie who fell out of love with him, in my opinion. Armand could've stop it from the start, no he waited for the verdict for Louie to stop the crowd from saying the same sentence that Claudia and Madeline received. I'm glad Lastat saying if Louie being charged for breaking the vampire laws, put me in that same category. Great recap can't wait for next week, but sad at the same time I love this series so much.❤

Even when Daniel tries to point it out - like when he says "so you saved louis but not her?" YES DANIEL!!! HE DIDN'T SAVE CLAUDIA BECAUSE HE DIDN'T WANT TO!! There's no way Armand is so powerful that he can make all the vampires in his coven "go to sleep" with one word but now he's suddenly afraid for his life??? yea right! Also I'm surprised that Daniel didn't call Armand out on his retelling on what happened between him, Lestat and Nicky. because in ep 3 he said that he picked armand over nicky and then left them both for america but that's not what lestat said this episode!!

    @bradleyblake7588

    11 күн бұрын

@avogrid296 You're definitely right. What I don't understand is why Louis and Daniel both aren't questioning him or acknowledging just how responsible for all of this Armand really was. Only 2 episodes ago, he literally froze an entire restaurant of people while simultaneously putting the entire coven to sleep over a simple argument. Then, in the last episode, he once again froze an entire restaurant full of people so that the trio could be kidnapped without witnesses. There is absolutely no reason he could not have done the exact same thing here and got them all out of there, even if he had to keep everyone frozen while they all healed. He can't say that is was because Sam was blocking him, because he could have easily taken him out, and he also can't say Lestat was too powerful, because he threw him around like a rag doll the first time he confronted him, and then took Nicky. There is only one legitimate answer as to why he didn't do the same thing here, and we all know what that is. He wanted Louis all to himself, which also still doesn't make sense because he was already about to get that. Madeline and Claudia were already planning to leave and go live their own life together. Claudia was no longer an obstacle between him and Louis being alone together. So why allow her to be killed when he knew that all that would do is completely destroy Louis forever? The fact that Louis can't acknowledge this obvious truth is just baffling to me. Armand must have him under some insane levels of mind control. If I were in this situation and someone facilitated the murder of someone I viewed as my child, it wouldn't matter who they were to me or what defense they came up with, they would have met a very miserable end right along with the rest of the coven when I took my revenge. The fact Louis has not only stayed with Armand, but still calls him "the love of my life," and Daniel hasn't mentioned anything about this massive plot hole yet doesn't make any logical sense. It's not like Daniel to refrain from voicing his opinions, and there is absolutely no possible way this isn't one of them. The only reason I can come up with is that Louis just doesn't care about her at all. She was right she never really mattered to them. She was only ever a prop in Louis life to make him feel better about himself and once she was gone he didn't even care enough to hold the one person who was truly responsible, accountable for his inactions. Louis sucks as a person.

He hunted her down the one time. She left for 7 years and Lestat never hunted her down. He told Louis that she wasn't coming home. He pulled her off the train because Louis was deeply depressed when she was gone the first time - and he didn't want that to happen again. He even says that straight out to her. (He's very fragile, you can't do this to him again, if another terrible thing happened to you, he wouldn't ever forgive himself.) He was trying to control her - but NOT just for the sake of wanting to control someone. It was to keep Louis from spiralling further. Louis shouldn't have ever taken Claudia and forced her to be his redemption. Lestat told him flat out why it was a bad idea. Louis said he didn't care and Lestat screamed that he should care. Lestat advocated for Claudia to not be cursed to the darkness. He advocated for her to be treated like an adult when Louis wanted her to remain a child. He set in motion the events that led them to Paris (EVEN THOUGH HE WARNED THEM NOT TO GO) and her death - but he was also the one who advocated for her to get her last words on this earth. Her greatest enemy was her first and last advocate.

I don’t think he had to act as he did. He chose to manipulate perhaps because he enjoys the power play and it may be closer to how things were done during his original lifetime. He really is a powerful vampire. He could have been more direct and survived confrontation. In many ways he is the direct opposite of Lestat. You are right that he achieved all he wanted but at what cost for someone who wants so much.

So you believe that Louis a BLACK GAY man in 1910 LOUISIANA, who was hiding his sexuality, pursued AND hunted Lestat- A WHITE VAMPIRE?! Showing up to wherever he was and insisting that Lestat make him his companion? Nah, girl that's a hard one for me to chew. I might be willing to bend on some of the other things Lestat claimed. But this is not one of them! Also, let's not ignore the fact that Lestat would've done almost anything to keep Louis from leaving him. So, yes, Louis may have begged him (and perhaps even threatened to leave him) in order to get him to turn Claudia. But the only person I think has the power to make Lestat do something he doesn't want to do is lying arse Armand.

@@mysweetperspective You know when Lestat went off script, and that wasn’t part of it. A human hunting and pursuing a vampire? Lestat could have just killed him if some random human tried to hunt him. Lestat fell instantly in love with Louis when he saw him, this is canon in Lestat’s telling of meeting Louis in The Vampire Lestat. Besides, this is still the account of Lestat from Armand and Louis’ POV of the trial, not real Lestat.

Sam Reid delivered an incredible performance. Whoa. From taunting to sarcasm to wrath to expressing genuine loss and regrets...Lestat /Reid commanded this episode. What's so breathtaking is that we've witnessed all these scenes play out before, from Louis' perspective. But when recounted from Lestat we realize a totally different interpretation of the same events that could very well be the truth. What's so heartbreaking is that we're watching this 'family' placed on trial and can't help feeling empathy for all three of them. Something I recognized was how Claudia is as much Lestat as she is Louis. Did anyone else detect a hint of pride coming from Lestat, in response to the way Claudia conducted herself during the trial- her resilience and refusal to grovel for mercy? Lestat wanted them 'to hurt,' but I believe even he hadn't expected to feel remorse at the outcome. Notice the way Lestat guiltily sank in his chair and lowered his head, as if suddenly regretting putting his deep, personal wounds on display for public entertainment. I am going to miss Claudia. But she finally got her wish, because someone finally 'chose' her. I LOVE all the detest you spew at Armand, lol. But Santiago is the sob whom I most want to see receiving a very slow and brutal comeuppance . Don't let me down, Louis!

I have to give it up to the writers. The way they reimagined yet held true to the details and essence of the book is so great. In the book, they both have a hand in making Claudia and tell her about it fairly early on- Louis who had not been drinking human blood, found her and drank first not even realizing what he was doing and then Lestat eventually turned her into a vampire. But the way the writers, held on to that until this episode with distortion of narrative, it made such a brilliant, emotional and heart wrenching moment……

Yah, pretty sure Lestat was absolutely no where near as bloody as shown durring that fight. By then his regen powers would be almost wolverine level and he was definitely holding back. Like a small Italian woman could smack a big brute of a man around, even say break his nose, but when that brute realizes this bitch be crai crai time to fuck her up, it's over. (Sorry, not sorry, I know it's not very woke of me to say a ittyy bitty woman can't absolutely destroy a 300 pound man easily, cuz I know that's what the media wants to portray women now a days, but it's true, I'm ex military and I've seen male on female fight drills and when the dude just says fuck this shit Im not holding back like i was told too, the chick just gets wrecked). Lestat at this point could take this whole coven plus Claudia, Louis and Armand on at this stage. He's the one every1 should be worried about. Edit: spelling

Loved the commentary. First off, I don’t trust Armand like at all. (Had to say that off jump) I keep wondering what was the choice. Could be a wild theory, but I think Armand knew how all of this was going to play out when he said: I made a choice. I highly doubt that the coven was going to just let him leave to be with Louis esp once they had the evidence from Claudia’s diary. I wouldn’t be surprised if he knew the coven reached out to Lestat. The choice was time with Louis. Make him love him. We saw earlier in the season, Armand manipulated Lestat into destroying his old coven by challenging their beliefs. Kidnapping Nicky was the bait to get him to do it. It’s the same concept except he used his coven to take out obstacles to Louis’ affection, manipulate the audience to banish Louis because he knew if they kill Claudia, Louis will take revenge. And voila! Armand gets other people to do his dirty work and he gets what he wanted.

Claudia is the most tragic character out of this vicious vampire cycle. As a human, she was rejected by everyone who was supposed to love and care for her and left to burn. She was then made a vampire out of desperation from Louis to replace his sister and for Lestat to not loose Louis. Then she was again rejected by Lestat who called her a mistake. Then once again relegated by Louis in choosing Armand. She was seen as nothing more than a pawn for the selfish desires of far more powerful people.

I think one of the things that makes the show and book series so fascinating is that it is unreliable in its narration so each story or perspective contains bias based off of what character is being betrayed at that time. The whole they are all monsters they are all manipulators is very true. They all have good and bad motivations behind the things they do. I don’t think any of them are innocent hundred percent. I think it is entirely possible that Armand originally wanted the downfall of Claudia, but later regretted it. I also have suspicions that he wanted to help, but I wasn’t sure if his power was being subdued by some of the other vampires present because there was very powerful vampires in that space. it really looked like he was putting a lot more effort on his facial expression to control the audience then he normally does. I also wonder if Lestat was helping Armand because he didn’t want Louis to die either. I think he came there with revenge in mind, but his emotions and love for Louis got the better of him. They could’ve had a secret thing going on in their minds that we don’t even know about.. I think they’re all going to team up in the end to get their revenge with Louis.

Love your takes, thanks Getting Lestat’s POV was great. I’m not sure how much it changed the core of Louis’s stories, so much as added to it. Louis had already admitted that Claudia was his redemption and he’d cursed her out of impure motives. Lestat’s POV just added depth to how far Louis was willing go to make her. Similarly, with the fight, Louis’s words about the head-cutting were harsh (after Lestat had strangled Claudia and hurled him into a fireplace, let’s not forget), but Lestat admits that it wasn’t the threat that triggered him, it was Louis’s making the decision to leave him. “to break something because you can’t own it” Before this episode, I’d always thought it tragic that Lestat went ballistic before Louis could make a choice. Now we see Louis was forced into making a choice and then Lestat broke him - literally rending him physically incapable of leaving. As to Claudia, I don’t buy Lestat’s predictions about her fate (or Armand’s). Claudia was fine - true, she had a rough few years but she climbed out of it, even apologized to Louis and Lestat, and had forged her own independent identity. Claudia’s problems stemmed from being kept prisoner by Lestat, then being forced to go on the run with a man she loved as a brother but who had chosen Lestat over her (now, to her death).

@mysweetperspective right, the truth is somewhere in the middle (like life). In Lestat's version, he had Louis acting like Mister in the "Color Purple". Louis maybe touched 🧠 be we know he don't carry himself that way.😅

Can’t wait for the live. It’s amazing to me seeing all of the Louis apologizing by people who demonize Lestat and never want to recognize all of Louis’ lies, half truths and manipulations. It’s a complicated situation and nobody comes out with their hands 100% clean.

People pointed out that the rocks that are filled in the coffin are the same ones in the garden in the Dubai apartment. Are Claudia's ashes part of the rocks/garden? And Claudia's vow of revenge, in The Vampire Lestat novel, Magnus tells Lestat that he must scatter the ashes of him or else he could come back, either as close to what he resembled or something horrible, but he would come back. And given that the Talamasca has been around for centuries, makes me wonder if they didn't gather Claudia's ashes. In the books, they had her diaries and I think the yellow dress in storage (and apparently a spy among the theater coven to have those nearly up close photos of the coven members that were given to Daniel). Mads and Claudia's ashes were shown on the stage. I half expected Santiago to have kicked them or them being shown swept away. So, given that there is someone in the theater coven working with the Talamasca, don't think it could be the end of Claudia. It could be, but she wasn't really a newborn vampire where the chance of coming back would be null. I'm thinking Marius is going to pop up in the season finale. They have mentioned him enough times, or will save his appearance for Lestat's seasons.

Yassss the comment I was looking for. Delainey in the after show said that Claudia has Lestat's blood in her and one thing Lestat does is come back with a vengeance. I think Delainey was hinting at a comeback and I think this isn't the last of Claudia

they need to do something about Armand!!! So far he's been nothing but an underhanded, manipulative, opportunist. He has all the powers and advantages yet acted like he was powerless in that penalty box. Nah, somehow and someway Armand needs to be dealt with. He don't deserve no happy ending. And Claudia🤧😭😭 girl at least you in better company. Maddy just got here and she was more loyal to Claudia than Louis.

Claudia defiant to the last moment. She never took any accountability. I agree Lestat’s apology was genuine, and I loved the writing revealed his version of events to add perspective to Louis’ narrative which has been very one sided. As a fan of the books from 2 decades ago, I cannot wait for the story to focus on Lestat’s narrative and journey

This was my favorite episode of the series. The intensity of every scene balanced with the humor of the trial was so brilliant. A huge round of applause for Delainey Hayles for stepping into the role of Claudia on an already established show and still being able to bring her own spin on the character. I was skeptical before the season but my heart was filled with grief watching her final performance.

I don’t trust Armand, Lestat, or Louis. Remember the old adage that there’s your version, my version and the truth. How would Louis hunt Lestat and invade his thoughts, begging him to make him a vampire when Louis didn’t know he was one until the church. And just like a typical abuser, Lestat cried and talked about how he didn’t deserve the forgiveness Louis gave him after he intentionally broke him, but ran across the ocean with a quickness to see him and Claudia put to death. “Louis was mean to me. told me I’d be alone and wouldn’t give me any for seven years.”But Lestat wasn’t alone. He was laid up with Antoinette all that time and who knows how many other side pieces. Real talk. The only difference between Armand and Lestat is Armand is more subtle in his manipulation and abuse while Lestat is indeed a hurricane.
