Interview: Rancid's Lars Frederiksen Recalls "Surreal" Gig with Misfits at Madison Square Garden
Having been around for 30 years, Rancid have had their fair share of standout moments in their storied career. For guitarist-singer Lars Frederiksen, one exceptional highlight took place in 2019 when the band opened for Misfits at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
As Heavy Consequence attested in its review, the October 2019 show at "The World's Most Famous Arena" was a pure triumph, perhaps the best of the Misfits shows since Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only set their differences aside and reunited in 2016.
For Frederiksen, it not only gave Rancid the opportunity to provide direct support to the legendary horror-punk band, it also fulfilled his lifelong dream of performing at Madison Square Garden.

I was at the MSG show as well, caught one of the Rancid set lists. The biggest standout was when everyone lifted up that lady in a wheelchair and then Jerry Only gave her his bass

Love how humble Lars is. Rancid are in the same league with all those bands he's named.

I was there too man! Suuuuper surreal! I was right there like 10-15 ft. from the stage. Absolutely amazing and they sounded great!
Rancid puts on an insane show, just high energy, great sound and just top tier live band.

Remember seeing the business with madball back in the early to mid 90s . It was sketchy a.f.

after NoFx, Rancid and misfits (without Graves ofc) are the biggest sell out in punk rock history. Madison garden say's enough. Go woke, go broke..
