I have been on One-Meal-A-Day intermittent fasting and Ketogenic lifestyle, and once every two weeks I fast for 48 hours. I never get hungry and I lost close to 100 pounds in 2 years, reversed my insulin resistance, hypertension, abdominal adipose, stage 3 kidney disease, full of energy and Metabolic syndrome completely. I followed Dr. Ekberg videos and recommendations daily. I thank Dr. Ekberg improving my health dramatically.

I go every 3/6 months to the doctor for a full check-up I eat 1 meal every 24 hours, I work as a cleaner and work broken shifts at different locations and always finish work at 6 pm so i used that to my advantage to keep fasting My longest fast was 168 hours, the lowest my insulin had ever been 3.1, and the highest ketose was 6.1 My flaw I eat too much even if healthy so now decided to eat really small meals I enjoy training in the morning on a fasted state Anything is possible just have faith and be consistent God Bless my brothers and sisters

I have 3 cups Italian roast coffee with heavy whipping cream each day. I also drink green tea and water for total of one gallon fluid per day. One pound beef (usually steak medium-rare) with few veggies and berries and occasional fruit. No grain based anything. I do consume anything fermented (not alcohol) such as kraut, pickles, olives, kimchi, yogurt, kefir all plain. No fish except occasional higher grade sardine and mackerel in olive oil, or chicken. I use USA and Italian olive oil !!! I'm basically bed-ridden but use electric chair. I can take a few steps and walk a few feet. I have medication induced COPD with 90% lung loss and several heart and immune system diseases and lymphedema under control due to diet. Before, weight was out of hand for years. I lost 40 lbs the first 6 months on diet. I'm not gaining weight now. I have no more pain or inflammation. Most lives I would not trade mine for! Thank God.

The other day I had a craving for some sugar. I've been doing IF for 2.5 years. Pretty consistently OMAD, every now and then I do 2 meals /day and try to keep them within a 6 hour period. So regularly 18 hour IF. I also monitor my blood sugar, I am NOT diabetic or have any health issues at all at 71. So as usual I had not eaten anything and it was like 2 pm, that's about the time I usually measure my blood sugar. Bought these delicious lemon flavored shortbread cookies and joined my son for coffee. My ( glucose) blood sugar is consistently about 83 mg/dl. Well after those cookies it went to 142 mg/dl. Yeah once in a blue moon something decadent is not going to harm you, but just imagine having that everyday. Dr. Ekberg, you keep me striving to get better every day. Thank You!!!

Now I have only one spike per day and not so steep .I am still learning and testing , popcorn did a very slooow spike, nice to see popcorn is not so bad for me.Also drinking green tea and snacking on almonds slows down the spikes a lot .And no sugar craving after only one week of low carb no sugar , I am amazed, it’s like my body started to hate sugar 😂 Awesome video 👍

I absolutely love your videos. I’m 46 years old 6’1 and 35 days ago I was at 284lbs. Today I weighed 258lbs. The weighs just falling off me. Thats 26lbs lost in 35 days and I feel fantastic. All I did was start doing intermediate fasting, lowered my carb intake, and I do a mild workout with just dumbbells and body weight twice a week just to maintain my muscle mass. I have a 6 hour eating window each day and I don’t even get hungry before that window anymore as my body and brain has gotten used to it. On weekends I still maintain my fast/ eating window, but I allow myself more carbs since we usually eat out some on weekends so I do feel deprived. The weighs coming off so fast and my energy levels went from swinging up and down to now I just have steady energy all day. Fad diets are temporary and I’ve tried them all, but this is a way of life. I just had a full physical 3 days ago and my Dr was praising me because my normal high blood pressure that he wanted to put me on medication for is gone, my cholesterol is down to normal levels, now, and as I’ve already said, I went from feeling horrible with no energy for work or to play with my grandkids to feeling absolutely amazing all the time. So I’m not doing a diet. Matter of fact I feel like I can definitely do this the rest of my life without feeling like I’m missing out on the foods I love or eating out with my family and friends on the weekend. The only question is now is how long will it take me to hit my goal weight of 210. I’m betting I hit that goal before next year.

Exercise good for you but not much to do with losing weight. Cut out carbs slowly, have a long overnight fast and eventually appetite reduces. Fasting is then easier. Carbs increase insulin and increase hunger hormones. A fact no one addresses is it works but causes constipation. So you go back to carbs!

@drekberg THANK YOU so much, as usual for a well explained, informative video. My husband and I initially had wonderful benefits doing intermittent fasting but in an effort to make better choices, we OD’d on millet pasta and plantain chips (replacing potatoe chips); causing both of us to become insulin resistant. I additionally, found out that I have the mthfr mutation (with a homocysteine result of 44) taking my cholesterol through the roof. We need people like you to help where tradition medicine fails. Thank you again

I love your videos. I can't wait to see them. You should do one on gaining weight for muscle building. I watch Dr. Mike on renaissance periodization and he suggests that you gain about half a lb a week till you get to about 20% to 25% body fat and then start to losing weight at a rate of about 2lbs a week till you get to about 12% to about 15% body fat to keep most of the new muscle. He also says to eat carbs but I keep them down for the most part. Thanks again Dr. Ekberg.

I'm fasting 18hrs from 6pm to noon the day after. I eat a modest meal at noon, if I feel the need I'll have a bulletproof coffee around 2pm to hold me until my 2nd meal at 5:30pm.

What is considered a "spike'? I notice that when I fast, my blood sugar goes up after black coffee, and also in the early afternoon, as if I had eaten lunch. My overnight glucose runs usually in the mid-sixties. My "spikes" aren't usually above 140, and come back down in an hour or two. I feel fine when I fast (usually 36-hours once a week), but wondering about my readings. I am 70 years old and on no medication. Love all your videos. I have learned so much. Thanks.

Have been doing exercising on treadmill & Ab-Doer as well for a couple of weeks or so... Fluids on BGMonitor were 5.5 average over night, & with the fasting until noon, where fluid levels were 8.1, so i just took first needle at noon to be safe, & wasn't even hungry at 16/8, but must be careful, as just starting fasting... Thank you so much ! Allie...

I have a question to which I haven't been able to find an answer and I am hoping you will be able to clear it. When I am on a ketogenic diet and my body is producing ketones, does the body use ketones as its energy source or my stored fat?

Can you please do a video specifically on weight loss plateaus even while intermittent fasting and eating low carbs/keto? I can’t figure out why my weight loss has stopped, it’s very frustrating. Thank you so much for this video, I have been low carb/ keto for about 2 years, not overweight but seem to be carbohydrate intolerant so this way of eating suits me. I started having bulletproof coffee about 6 months ago and now am addicted, plus have put on about 3 kilos. After your video today I have decided to cut the coffee out and have green tea instead. I am 87, and due to have my aortic valve replaced next week by TAVI, and I am determined to start walking and doing tai chi every day as soon as I return home. I will build up gradually. You are very inspiring.

So many people are shocked that you can put butter in your coffee lol. And they usually think it is disgusting without trying it first. But when they put heavy cream in their coffee, they think it is perfectly normal. And all the difference is that heavy cream has 30-36% fat, and butter 82%. And tastes as good if not better. Just try it! BTW I always melt butter before pouring it into coffee, it seems to taste and smell better, melted butter, yummy!!!😀

For those who are lactose intolerant, like me, you can use ghee which is clarified butter, also to properly mix it, even regular butter, put in a blender for a few seconds… no layer of grease on top it just looks like normal milk in your coffee, it’s delicious 😋

Hello Dr Ekberg, always nice to see you. I have a quick question. Every-time im on a fasting regimen OMAD, with Keto/Carnivore, my sleep pattern change, i get only about 5 hours of sleep, but , as soon as i eat some carbs, i sleep 7 hours, which is big difference, now, if i eat carbs before bed, that breaks my fast and kicks me out of ketosis, which prevents me to lose fat, but also if i fast and have only 5 hrs of sleep, and as you stated in the video, the cortisol gets high, which raises blood sugar, and prevents me to lose fat also, i also i feel tired next day and can`t do things right. What do you think i should do? Thank you for what you do.
