I am 52 and have been intermittent fasting (18 hours a day) for the past 7-8 years. I love how fasting makes me feel. I feel extremely alert and energetic and sleep really well when I fast 18 hours a day. It also helps keep the weight off. Last year I went off fasting for a couple of months due to having family at our house from overseas. It was difficult to fast with so much of food around all the time. I began to feel lethargic and hot flashes, my joints started aching and many other symptoms of the onset of menopause. My period also stopped for three months. I thought I must of reached menopause but after our guests left, I got right back on to fasting and my period came back and feel like a 30 year old again. Can't say enough good about fasting.

I am 50 going back to school finishing up my nursing degree. I am peri-menopausal. Struggling with brain fog and lost words. I am surrounded by cohorts who Google everything and it's driving me mad. I exercise regularly and am looking to start IF. My nutrition is good and I prepare all meals for my family so it's a good time to start. Thank you for your help.

I will be 60 in August. I learned about low carb and about IF about 3 years ago. What I found WITH MY OWN BODY is less carbs, 16/8 keeps me sleeping and MY temperature regulated. I feel great and have good focus and less mild depression. Increased energy led to resuming my barefoot running and resistance training. I did not loose muscle just flab which I am pleased with. I added a 24 hr fast once a week but that has been hard to maintain with current stress levels. Dr. Kim and Dr. Mindy Pelz and Cynthia Thurlow have been great resources. Melissa Goodwin

As I've been intermittent fasting for the past two years, I'm convinced our body is designed to eat all day. I have not felt this good since my twenties. It really is life changing.

Hi Dr. Kim, I'm soon to be 57 years old and I have been doing intermittent fasting for a few months now. I have notice more clarity and I have lots abdominal weight, almost 15 lbs overall. It has been helpful to me, but getting use to the 16:8 fasting was not easy. It is doable, but takes time. It has been helpful to me with my family that doesn't do it, I am able to eat what others eat and within the regular family meal times. I love to learn more and more about it's benefits! Thank you for your channel.

Dr.Jason Fung presented some data on eating disorder and the impacts of fasting. Fasting helped these patient population dealing with eating disorders …..we almost all have eating disorders otherwise we would not be fat and sick! We would be surprised to collect all the minutes and hours spent on thinking and talking about food every day (expect if you are a professional cook 😊)…. It’s a lot !!!!

I’d like to see a video on protein supplementation. I’ve always associated that with body building, so am interested in learning how it could be a useful tool for those of us who just want to build and maintain healthy levels of muscle mass.

My nutritionist told me it’s better for me to have 5 small meals during they day, not to spike insulin, and that because of hormone matters it’s not so good to fast longer than 12 hours. I am 60, and what I notice when I was fasting for 18- 20 hours I was losing muscle mass, which did not make me happy. Now I do resistant training and eat 5 times a day, I have gained muscle mass and lost body fat 😅

Menopause also manifests by joint pain, memroy loss, and depression. Eahc of those would be treated by doctors if men were reprting them as symptoms, while women are dismissed to just suffer without help. Its becaue doctors like you say „it is normal” . Sorry, but not sorry - I cannot agree. those are serious helath conditions deterriratig woman’s health and their social and professional activity. Lets start treating menopause as any other disorder like thyroid disfunction.
