TLX S is a nice sporty cruiser. They really should have offered it with a manual though. That would have set it apart as a unicorn from other sports sedans in the class.

Manual shifting in TLX is useless cause it automatically shifts at only 6k. Acura won’t let it go past that because it’s not a performance transmission. They chose their in-house 10 speed because of budget. If Acura used a true dual clutch auto, then it would have been amazing and much more durable. Even the ZF transmission would have been amazing. The 10 speed is the weak link. Not durable at all. They blow easy.

I know the sports sedan segment doesn't have a big market like CUV's and SUV's but I feel like it was a missed opportunity not putting a manual transmission in the TLX Type S even just as an option. Same as you I went Integra Type S because I wanted the buttery smooth Honda manual, but the interior, ride quality and grip is far superior on the TLX. I also know Acura doesn't have a large budget but if they could've made an AWD Integra Type S that would've been my only car, this FWD got me considering a GR Corolla and a dedicated sport car like the GR Supra for summer time. Side note MBRP just released their cat-back exhaust so they're the first on the market for the ITS. Great vid as always Que!

I prefer the simpler interior looks of the ITS. I love my ITS but I just wish it had a little more bass. I guess Acura made the subwoofer enclosure so that you can't easily swap out subwoofers. I decided to buy a specially designed adapter and grille combo from Ballade Sports but it's kind of a ripoff because all you get is a grille and an adapter ring for about $500. But the good part is that now I can add any 8 inch aftermarket speaker and amp combo I want. The stock speaker is only a 50 watt speaker, which is pretty low for a subwoofer.

For me, I love BOTH cars, but for completely different reasons. The TLX Type S is a refined car, but Acura made that more of a sporty cruiser. The Integra Type S is much more athletic and fun to drive in many ways. The power to weight ratio on ITS is seriously amazing and as you mentioned, it's AGILE. I think the ITS has a very specific mission and really appeals to "Drivers" whereas the TLX S is more luxurious in appointments. It's got more plush seats, and trim looks more premium than Integra, but at the very same time, Integra Type S doesn't need all those things. So while I really want the Integra Type S to be for "Everyone", because it's AMAZING, it's not a car for everyone. It's super sporty, AGILE, and sexy in every way, but as soon as folks see it doesn't have a moonroof, they may be put off, and go with a different option. That's the mission of Integra Type S. The Aspec has more mass appeal because it has more luxury features than ITS, actually, which threw me for a loop at first, and the seats in Aspec are even more plush, but taking a full overview of both, the good news is, one isn't trying to beat out the other, and both have amazing qualities. I'm also cursed with the need for a 6MT, so it's an easy choice for me ;) I could see myself owning a TLX Type S tho, for sure for those rare days when we want to be lazy....but then again, the Integra is so easy to drive, that even as a 6MT, it's pretty relaxing for me hehe :) Fun cars, man, and glad you got to experience TLX Type S. Now just get your girl that MDX Type S! It drives like a sports car! 😀
