Very nice review man! I love my Type S! My only complaint is the lack of clearing the Bluetooth cache when you remove devices. Now I'm unable to pair my BT mp3 player since it can't find any audio tracks since the cache memory is trying to find the last song played at a specific spot and the mp3 player doesn't do that.

Built in navigation is still suuuper useful. Especially considering in just how many areas you lose phone service. My FL5 Type-R's built in Navigation has saved my ass on multiple occasions already just within the first year of ownership. It's awesome to have it as a back-up to your regular Apple Carplay/Android Auto. Side note: I live in the mountains of Northeastern PA, and the winters here get really freezing. However you don't miss having heated seats in the Type-R because they're not your regular leather seats, so they're never really that cold, and they warm up as soon as you sit in them. I've had and still have other cars with heated seats, and even then I rarely use them, though they are nice to have.

@@i.d.6492Yeah...But you gotta prep for that. It's also less convenient and can be less accurate. Particularly cause the magnetometer in phones can often be off or screwed up compared to a gyrocompass (you can actually watch it sometimes just holding the phone still while it spins maps around in circles). The GPS antenna is also much smaller on your phone. Not saying its not doable...just less convenient, and has it's issues. Having an in car built in navigation is just a nice to have feature, and more convenient on the daily, especially if it already comes standard, and is not a paid optional upgrade.

For the seat belt situation. My Elantra N is the same. I pull it all the way out and it doesnt lock. Read in the owner's manual it is designed to only lock in car accident scenarios. I am guessing this is a new modern design of seat belts.

Interesting to hear pros and cons for both daily driving and track use. Have you looked into a CG lock for the seat belt to help hold you in the seat? I use one for track days, helps a little, and definitely better than stock. And cheaper/easier vs a new seat, full harness. Also agree with the Michelin PS4S, as I had side wall/shoulder wear issues running 34/35 PSI hot. I'm now running 36/37 PSI hot with better results.

I have it for about three months now and love almost everything about it. I just wish wish wish(did not stutter) it's quieter! You can feel and hear everything on the road. How it groans when the road curves. Road noise amplifiers on concrete roads. Other than that, it's always fun, thrilling and gets your blood moving whenever you want it. It's like Clark Kent and Superman. That's how drastic between comfort mode and Sport plus is. And...wait for it...carry whole boat loads of grocery.

Zygrene, Acura recommends 93 octane Premium for the Type S. As you know, we don't get 93 in California, or, at best, it's extremely rare. Yes, the car can run safely on our 91 octane Premium, but that usually means a reduction in power, fuel mileage, and the occasional knocking and pinging. Living in NoCal, how are you coping with this issue?

When I switched my daily, from a more sporty, lower, reclined seat to a less sporty, higher, upright seat, I had some "lower back pain" for a short while, which was simply certain muscles strengthening to adapt to the new seating position/posture. I think the same happened with you.

Perfectly balanced vehicle for daily, plus canyons and the occasional track day. One recommendation re: ohlins, you may want to go same clicks front & back, or maybe even slightly stiffer back then front compare to way you have it now. I put 5 front and 3 clicks back on same exact suspension with a mk6 R. Clearly different setup with awd vs fwd (although fwd bias is heavy in the R) but that particular selection along with a beefier aftermarket rear swaybar makes her a little more playful and easier to rotate at the limit. You should try it, will likely improve your times further at the track as it will eliminate almost all the under steer with a good camber setup up front ;)

I have a 2023 Civic SI and I love almost everything about it, but the lighter 1.5T engine and colder weather makes it have a lot of FWD traction problems in 1st and 2nd gear. The difference between the Integra Type-S and Type-R up here in Canada is only like $6000 CDN or $4000 USD and I prefer the hatchback layout to a regular sedan. What bothers me is the loss of my rear heated seats and no rear seat HVAC vents, which is a weird omission on a more luxury oriented car, and something I could get in a GTI or Golf R, but I'd have the problem with their horrific touch screen configuration. Thanks for this. Nice and thorough review. Weird item about the "total passenger weight" lol and the lack of a memory option for the driver.

Did you modify the exhaust/use a particular engine setting to minimize/eliminate that? I was under the impression that the "resonator delete" was standard. It's cool to track it, but isn't it specifically tuned for street handling? Kinda like a Tourer opposed to Sport. I considered a Type S as well as a Mk8 GolfR while cross shopping, as well as an RDX A-Spec Advance, but ended up going with ordering an Audi Allroad Prestige w Black Optics. It's got great performance, still 0-60s in 5s, but is super comfy for dailying & has all the niceties for dailying as well. I currently daily a GT Sport which also has a ton of nice daily features but I'm tired of the super harsh suspension, even tho it handles super well. I agree tho on the memory seats, for a $50k sportback, it should basically come with every feature under the moon. That's why I was happy with the Allroad, order price was $60k & came with everything I could want & currently have in my GT Sport.

I'm liking that car, but still can't wrap my head around a $60K civic with some add-ons. You still realize that the car is cheap when you notice that it is missing the normal equipment that should be there at this price point: memory seats, rear HVAC controls, power passenger seats, 4 banger. I just picked up a used cayman for the same coin.....

No AWD option, no DCT option (I say this as a life long manual driver), no sunroof, no rear HVAC vents (wtf), manual passenger seal (lol), no memory seats for the driver, no fog lights, no rear USB ports, no ventilated seats, no folding mirrors, etc. This is absolutely NOT a luxury performance car. The amount of other cars at that price point is endless. There's a reason why so many Integra Type S are piling up on dealership lots. My local dealer (not even a big volume store) has SIX that have been sitting since September.

I have the FL5 and also test drove the Type S. The Type is is a lot more refined than the Type R. Just depends what you're looking for. For me, I didn't like the Type S bc it was too soft (Zygrene changed his suspension), and too quiet with all the sound dampening was so numb to me. But if you're looking for something more refined, the Type S is the way to go for sure.
