2022 Acura NSX Type S vs 1999 Acura NSX // The ULTIMATE Comparison + DRAG RACE

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The 2022 Acura NSX Type S (~$225,000 CAD as specced, $187,000 USD as specced) is up against a piece of its own history - the 1999 Alex Zanardi Edition NSX ($A LOT CAD, $ TOO MUCH USD). With only 51 road-going examples made exclusively for the American market, the Alex Zanardi Edition NSX is rare, ultra-lightweight, and can be considered as the North American equivalent of the Japan-only NSX Type S from yesteryear.
The new 2022 NSX Type S is a hybrid, has three electric motors and all-wheel drive. It also has more than double the horsepower of the Zanardi Edition. But does more power evoke more emotion? And does it hold true as a Type S successor? Thomas and James are excited to find out! We hope you enjoy the episode! SUBSCRIBE!

The problem that kills some cars is the leadership and lack of vision at the company. Many companies have done that. Nokia, Microsoft killing windows phone and Nissan errors all came from lack of vision. Bad leadership kills. I wish NSX dedication kept going.

I do no like any of Honda's cars post 2022. All of they're cars are too bloated and ugly now. I understand cars need to follow safety laws, somehow Nissan, Sabura, Madza and Toyota are doing a lot better in terms of bloat and making the car still look good.

Great production - I was really excited for this one! The Senna tribute was great - the GTR and LFA appearances were totally expected (that SOUND). There actually are (puny) cupholders in the original NSX, you just missed the last way to open that cubby. FYI there's a '94 NSX here in Ottawa if you guys want to try an older and high mileage model (with a few non-museum-worthy bits that help me fit better and live with it).

While Mr. Cammisa noted that "weight is everything", I'd say that "it's all about balance". No doubt weight, or rather the lack of it, plays a big role. But in reality you have to account for everything involved and how all of those things impact the driving experience. For the sake of performance, emissions and safety among other things, cars these days sacrifice all sorts of things that made the original NSX (and many other older cars) so special to drive and interact with.

If offered the keys to either one, I'd take the Zanardi NSX every time. It is a very special car. Like any of the pre-facelift 1st generation NSX cars, it only continues to get better looking with time. Such an iconic, timeless design that will never be confused with any other car. The new NSX Type S is none of these things in my opinion, despite it offering impressive levels of performance and being a technological marvel.
