As a former coach and mentor of FTC teams , here is my sincere take on these kind of videos: In my opinion and my POV, most important time as a student being part of FTC team is first few weeks after game reveal, act of brainstorming for strategy, solutions, building prototypes, watching prototypes fail, inferring why they failed, iterating thru various issues, including figuring researching and trying out materials to use. These videos short circuits all that. Some adults with lots of engineering experience are doing all the above and telling the students solutions, including materials to use. We used to spend at least two to three weeks of quality time to come up first working prototypes, with cardboard or whatever material to prove the concept. I don't mind information sharing among students across teams, or adults helping generic solutions not specific to the game. Adults need to stay out of solutions space, rather facilitate discussions, guide them to come up with their own solutions. Challenge them by asking why their solutions failed or did not work as they expected. Help them make accurate engineering analysis of a failure. I am sorry.., IMHO this is wrong. You are taking away huge invaluable learning opportunity for students.

We appreciate the feedback. Our primary goal with Kickoff Concepts is to provide a starting point for students and teams that are new to competitive robotics programs. We get a lot of positive feedback from rookie coaches and new teachers that this type of content helps them to provide a jumping off point for their students and a way to approach the challenges ahead. Sounds like your teams have had a good amount of experience to draw from as well as experienced mentors/coaches!
