    I'm new in FTC, if my team wants to control the arm, wrist and gripper by one controller and the movement of the robot by another, how would we do that in program?

    So knowing that a lot of rookie teams usually start with a kit bot, and that swerve costs a bit more than a regular drive train, was this designed with rookie teams in mind or was it for more advanced teams? If it was intended for novice teams we'd be curious to know how many rookies are going after a swerve drive their first year. Good for them! #TeamREV #FRC9008

    All the shots of the bot helped me visualize what would be going on with the bumpers on our version of the REV ION.

    These are interesting designs! Incorporating the intake and shooter into one moving piece definitely helps manage the complexity of the building process. From our prototyping experience, having something similar to the flap wheels on an intake makes intaking the game pieces substantially easier!

    Great insights and explanations! This is really amazing that you explained out the purpose of each choice you made for all the different mechanisms and provided details about which products to use for specific tasks. So many things that teams need to think about to make the robot work well and optimization ideas too! Wow! We were very impressed that you provided all the CAD and Code too! It really shows how much REV cares about FRC! Great job!!!

    Awesome starter bot! Great to see an option with shooter rollers on top and bottom so teams can compare against the side wheels on the FIRST kitbot's shooter and choose what they like best. #TeamREV

    It’s really neat how useful the one mechanism is. Seems to check all the boxes other than shooting notes from the hang position.

    It's cool to see how distinct many elements of this bot are from the 2024 Kitbot! Do you anticipate this bot being able to climb with another robot next to it, or will it need to climb solo?

    For other teams out there using the starter bot: When we start and mentor teams we use the REV Starter bot build to teach tool use and design techniques. The younger members often have trouble with the chain tool. Are there any tips or tricks to get the hang of it quickly? (Or tips and tricks to more accurately count chain links :) )

  • @zUltraXO
    @zUltraXO7 ай бұрын

    I would've loved to say "use an app that counts based on sound by dragging a screwdriver along the chain links and stop when it reaches the desired number based on the number of clicks it counted" but that is pretty unreliable. The easiest way I've found is to just drag a screwdriver along the inner chain links and count manually on every step as you hear the click from the screwdriver hitting the next link For pushing out the pins just enough, push the pin out just enough so that it can come apart, then put the side with the ejected pin back in the chain tool (in the ejecting side) and scratch the anodizing coat off of the tool right where the pin for the chain pin so you'll have a mark where to stop.

    Interesting design for this year's game!👏 We are interested in the concept of the intake system. How can we control both claws at different times?🤔 We think that it would be more efficient to place the pixels on the backdrop one at a time, so you don't take any risk related to the fact that they might get to an unwished spot. Good luck to everyone!! 😁✌🏻 #TeamREV 🫶🏻

    Just FYI, I think the instructions for how to program the servo are incorrect. The program button should be hit after setting the left and right limits, not before.

    It's awesome to hear more info about these! We were excited by the new form factor of the Vortex and have some shooter mechanism ideas using them floating around already in the team. These will make some mechanisms much easier to design.

    I love the docking feature! It will be super useful to have the motor and controller in one package, but still be able to replace damaged parts without having to get rid of both the motor and controller. In the future will there be a product allowing teams to plug an external encoder such as the REV through bore encoder into the data port of the Flex? (similar to the adapter boards for SPARK Maxes) #TeamREV

    Cool new products REV! Love the consideration given to compatibility and serviceability, any recommendations for the best way to constrain a standard hex shaft output? #TeamREV

  • @REVrobotics
    @REVrobotics8 ай бұрын

    That really depends on the implementation of what you are doing. The shaft retention screw we use for the Vortex shafts is the same one that people use for Hex shaft retention, so put a screw in one side and a clamping collar somewhere else on your mechanism and you are good to go. In many applications, fixing the hex shaft to the motor isn't important. Make sure your hex shaft is constrained on your mechanism and then put the motor anywhere on the shaft that is convenient for your bot design. We will have a bunch of CAD Application examples that show some of the unique things that the Vortex can do coming out soon.
