I agree. All Nashville wants is a good 3 years out of Marshy and Stammer to do some serious damage with Nashville at a cup run. They have the team to do it on paper. Skjei is a long term keeper with his young age.

Watching what Nashville is doing. Wouldn’t it be nice to have some cap space.

I hope so. As a Leafs fan, he is a great player, but cannot perform in the playoffs. We need to get rid of him so we can have some cap space for a playoff performer.

You guys can harp on Vegas for not retaining their original players, but they have a cup in their first 7 years in the NHL. They made it to 2 SCF in 7 years. Leafs haven't won since 1967 and went on a 18 year drought on making it past the first round. As ruthless as the Knights are, they are getting it done by doing what's best for the team and not the individual. I have yet to see the Leafs make a decision with a backbone during the Matthews era

As a Panthers fan I’ve seen Stamkos way too often. He plays mostly on the left as a right handed shot (especially on power play he stays on the wing)

There are 3 OG misfits left. I am gutted that Marchy left, I do understand the hesitation to pay a guy into his mid 30’s. (Which is crazy because me and Jon are almost the same age, with a birthday in the same month). As much I was love my VGK, I don’t see them holding onto someone for the ‘feel good’. With Vegas/Vancouver/LA/Winnipeg getting worse the 5-8 playoff spots are wide open. I think Utah got a really good shot at making the playoffs this coming year. I think 1.Edmonton 2. Nashville 3. Colorado 4. Dallas are locks and interchangeable.

@@tor2886 They absolutely did. Losing Zadorov and Lindholm and only getting Debrusk back is not making the team better, the only way I see Canucks getting better is Skinner but I doubt he goes there. Also the Canucks started crashing once there PDO started dropping. A 12% Shooting % is unsustainable over a long stretch, Vancouver dropped down to base level after getting to that insane start to the year.

Canucks are on the up n up. Vegas is doing Vegas things, reshuffling as necessary. Theyll both be making the playoffs. LA are perennial over-achievers, and they rid themselves of PLD. They arent likely going anywhere either. Winnipeg's the only one there thatll prob be in that 7-10 range. Seattle is spending. Its gonna be tight. Maybe Utah squeaks into that 7 or 8 spot.

Rangers fan here, I think a lot of Skjei's good play can be attributed to his partner Brett Pesce. He certainly wasn't missed in NY when he was traded to Carolina and frankly most rangers fans were elated we got a 1st for him. Nashville, unless they've got a stable partner for him, are going to regret that Skjei contract.
