Just found this. I want to change a 12" tractor tire and wasn't sure the tool could handle it. Now I know. I've changes smaller tires 10" rim with no issues. Love the tool and of course price, had it for a few years. Now I can start on the 12" rims, save money and drop off time. THANK YOU.

Thanks much for your video. I have to change two new rear tires 23 x 10.5 -12 inch and do have a small tire changes which I have never used because had no way to secure it, but your application has solved that problem for me. Again thanks.

This video was a life saver for the future. I just paid $90 dls to a tire shop for installing 2 new tires with inner tubes so that prompted me to look for an alternative and found this Tire changing tool at harbor freight and now just finished watching your video.

Pro tip. Don't put the tire valve in before seating the beads. You'll get faster volume of air for seating. Clean the lube from the lower bead, then push down to seat the bead on the bottom as much as possible, then gently lift while applying air pressure from a 3/8" i.d. air hose. May not need the strap.

I have one I bought years ago. Works well. The ONLY issue I have or maybe I should say wish, is that unlike an automotive type changer, it doesn't have a way to keep the rim from turning while your trying to remove or install a tire. Otherwise it works well.

I may have to try one of these. I have a manual bead breaker and tire spoons which work great, but on 8" and smaller rims, it is pretty difficult. the ratchet strap works most of the time, but sometimes it takes a long time and lots of fighting to get them to seat

I made a 28 inch long piece of 2 inch receiver tubing with a 2 inch inside tee welded on the end that takes another piece of receiver tubing. It is 28 inches long too with my tire machine mounted on top. It slides down in the "tee" and I have set bolts on the side of the tee to tighten it. Fits any pickup with a receiver hitch and the tailgate can be down for a work area. Rock solid. I also made new tire irons that are 30 inches long. Makes the grunt work a lot easier. I also made another hold down that works on top with a rubber irrigation pipe seal on bottom to grip the tire and glued a rubber flat rubber washer on top. It grips the tire a lot better. Work the tire irons from left to right and the wheel will not move.

For the tire, I just aired it up & the bead popped back on.😎 did the job without the tool & bent the bead, it was the old original tire I put a tube in it. Since I’m changing the 2 front ones I’ll be changing the 2 back ones too, one of the back ones is to far gone. The tool has paid for itself already, & I’ve removed 4 tires w it & put 1 on some to be 3 more.

Those tire changers are cool and all, but I find it easier and faster to just use a spoon or two. It might be a different story if I had the space to dedicate to leaving it mounted somewhere. But alas I don't. Got any good tips getting a stuck bead broke loose? I personally put the lifting part of my "high lift jack" in the receiver of my van, put the footplate on the tire (which is laying on the ground below the van hitch) and give'er the beans. Usually works good. Have actually had one or two so stuck that it just about lifted the van.

The only tires I've ever seen that required the ether/solvent fume ignition method are 40's and up... Otherwise, ratchet straps are the norm here in Texas. Years ago, we had one hell of a fight dealing with Long/Fiat 50 hp tractor and my Dad was in it to win it... He popped the beads off with the front wheel of his Chevy and fought the rubber off the rim. We burned the yard with fuel and ultimately swapped out for a better solvent like ether that really evaporates much faster... Gas trail to the tire and whoop!

About to go buy this in a few minutes. I've been struggling to remount a garden tractor tire i put a tube in.I don't have a receiver hitch..yet on my truck... but I bought a table vise to install on my garage workbench. I've seen videos of some using this method to secure the changer... not sure if i like that. Cast metal can crack and break with little to no warning. Mounting permanent to the bench seems restrictive (no way to get a 360 work space), Building a Mobile table also has issues.. (Don't want to chase it all over the Garage!) Looks like I need a floor mount with some angle Iron and concrete anchors (Got those). Anyone got any other suggestions.. Space is really limited in my Garage. Thanks for the Video and any suggestions. -Jake

Skip a step I almost bet you could change the tire on the tractor, guys do this in the field with tractor trailers on dully wheels they chang the tire on the truck.

Nope, won't work for my Deere 265's front rims. There's no opportunity to keep the tire from not coming back up off the rim as you rotate the tool during install. Holding onto the tire doesn't matter. You can keep the tire inside the rim with vice grips on the rim as a blocker, but then you won't be able to use the tool to rotate it around.

I see that when trying to mount the top bead, you had the same trouble that I did - as fast as one side goes on, the other comes off. Then, there is a break in the video, and you come back with the tire over half-way on. I assume you got that far with a real changer and then came back to finish with the Harbor Freight POJ. This tool is poorly designed and doesn't work as portrayed. Moreover, the "hook", which is aptly named, has sharp edges that destroyed the bead on my tire. If the tire didn't already require a tube, I would be looking for more from Harbor Freight than just a refund.

I install a lot of tires with this tool. I don't remember at this point what happened with the footage that required a cut but this isn't a magic trick that requires a TV camera trick. I still use this tool to this day and have a few other videos of me installing tires with this. I think I actually have 4 videos. To each their own. I'm not paid by any tool company just showing you how it's done

That tire didn't go on as easy as you made it look. cut the camera and then come back to it? Throw that tool out they gave you and use regular tire tools to r and r them. Nice tire changer but your being misleading about it.

We had a technical issue with the camera so we lost some footage. It however is that easy to install the tire. We have about 4 videos on our channel using this tool. Note: this is not a paid advertisement by HFT or Pittsburgh Tools. I simply had to mount a tire and decided to film it and publish it at the service of you the viewer, so you can see it in action.

Worthless piece of junk. Wont even break the bead on my little 8in. tire from a Deere rider. May work ok on new tires but worthless on old tires that have been mounted for years and stuck/rusted to the rim.

On my Ford 120 restoration series I use this tool to remove a pretty rusted wheel and tire. I had to throw all my body weight into it several times. I eventually got it off, but I've encountered tires I couldn't get off with this. For those I send the tire out but I've been able to get most tires off, and I installed maybe 20 tires a year on everything from tractors to atvs and go karts.

Heat it with a hair dryer and whack it really hard with a rubber mallet before you use this tool. Certain tires are worse than others. Make sure all the air is out of the tire. Can try driving on them with a car and you might have to use a board to get the weight where you need it.
