great video FYI, the red part of the bead breaker is backwards. should be angled downward at the rim edge.
I went out and bought one of these yesterday to change a tire thanks to the clarity of your video. My hub had a grease spindle bearing on it but thanks to this I knew exactly how to get it done. I think a boatload of the tire lube helps a LOT in putting the tire back on. I got mine off without even mounting the tool to a deck. But putting the tire back on with a tube is harder so I mounted it to some boards to stand on the boards. My new valve stem was slightly loose (in my tube) so I recommend people tighten those up a bit to avoid a slow leak down the road and think they got a hole in the tire. My tubeless tire was getting old and leaking so I put a new tube in it and it will be fine for several more years.
I worked at a Western Auto store back in the early '70s and we used something similar to this, but of course much larger. It was air driven and we used it to change car and truck tires. Even tires for a small dump truck. Sure made thing a heck of a lot easier than the old way using pry bars.
Thanks for the video. After watching this, I ended up picking up the tool from HF. I Took one tire off tonight. It wasn't too bad. Probably would have gone quick had I mounted it to my bench :) The rest will get done tomorrow. Thanks for posting.
i put a washer on the inside of the sleeve for the base and and put a bolt thru it instead of the pin so it dont wobble and lagged it to my bench...and that thing is solid..i like them things.. rock on.
Don't forget the valve stem, I thought mine would grow back like yours did.
First time fixing my lawn tractor flat with a pry bar and screwdriver and will not be buying one of these, but liked the demo. It is just going to take a little longer for me because I am a stubborn senior. I wondered why the foot of this tool didn't go in the other direction to push down closer to the rim! Questions like that are what made me take on all my own repairs. After a self-appointed expert tried to diagnose my lawn tractor's issue and got me to order a bunch of useless expensive parts, I did research while waiting for the parts, returned nearly everything, and did the job myself.
I mounted my base to a 7ft brushhog deck on my Deere. I just store the parts in the garage.....slip'em in the base when needed and the brush hog weights 1500lbs so no movement at all. I also some times use the main changer part in my bench vise which is good to save space....the vise is always there and it eliminates the need for the tire change base and it doesn't wiggle.
BOUGHT ONE AND ALREADY HAVE INSTALL TWO SMALL TIRES. LIFE SAVER. HAD TO COME BACK AND WATCH SOME OF THE VIDEOS ON HERE WHEN I GOT READY TO INSTALL THE NEW. AND, IT WORKED OUT. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO. REALLY APPRECIATE IT. NEXT, GONNA TRY TO BREAKDOWN THE REAR LARGE TIRES TO SEE IF I CAN PATCH. THAT MAY BE A CHORE.
Great Video....bought one of these tire changers last summer to take the tire off of a very old John Deere tractor. Never would have got this old stubborn tire off without this neat tire changer..
Went out to cut the grass tonight, and guess what I had a rear flat tire. Had bought a harbor freight tire changer, but have not got to used it. Your video was well done and exact. With your video I think that I can change it. Thanks
Just bought one today for $32! Need to change my golf cart tires and later for my lawn tractor... I have paid more than that many times to have my tires changed. Thanks for a great video.
Good job there. I was struggling to get my tire back on. I noticed where you stated to slightly push down on the opposite side and that worked well for me.
Me and my father been having a wrestling match with this thing 😆 your video really helped us get it done ✅ you are straight to the point. Without all the theatricals.
That is a cute lil tire changer. Im a small engine mechanic and i change tires manually alot with a prybar and a flat head screwdriver. Im gonna invest in one of these. At harbor freight i looked it up they $44. Good price for alot of help
Thanks for your clip, you just SOLD me on one of these!
Thanks!!! LMAO. I couldn't remember for the life of me how to put mine together to change my lawn mower tires. I also read the comments and know to make sure my bead breaker was oriented correctly.
that's the same tire I am changing now thanks handy man. you saved my life.🐢
The amazing reappearing valve stem. 😳
I bought one of these things, but from Northern Tool... Excellent Video, now I know how to use it, my riding mower will get a tire change
