I used to plow with an atv for a few years. After the first winter, my winch cable was bound in the winch so tight, I had a very hard time unspooling it. It had kinked the cable and I had to replace it. The following winter, I took off my new cable and put about a 10 ft piece of the old one back on. This worked well and didn’t ruin my cable. I realize some people might still want to use their machine for riding, and need the longer winch cable. Perhaps a wire rope might work without getting kinked. Good luck with your plowing. I didn’t know Coleman made utvs. Maybe they aren’t sold in Canada where I live.

my plow on my 801 ford tractor used a winch and worked great , with my new driveway I wanted a smaller plow so I hope it work good.
I'd be glad that installation is over. Good job in cramped places. The snow is coming your way soon.

Thanks Mark for the info. It's not just for the Coleman, but for any ATV. I'm in East Central Texas, but from northwest Indiana, I will pass this onto my brothers who still live there.

Plowing snow is hard on equipment, good job on the modifications. That will help save your frame. My friend runs a power equipment shop and told me always start at the street and work your way in. The street snow has the most salt and as you work towards your house with cleaner snow it helps remove the salty snow. The metal on those vehicles are not very thick. At least you will have some fun !
You have the best toys!!!
I can see modifying it for all the sun we get here in Southern California. Take care of the sun-drifts.😋 Thanks for the video. Jon

Nice project Mark. May I make one suggestion: Replace all of the nuts in your installation with self locking nuts, such Nylocks. I agree with Randy Wells, below: Use metal for your spacers. Happy plowing.

That takes a lot of the work out of shoveling snow and they are nice to have. I've had a few over the years and they're all the same. brand name means nothing. I only used the original mount once and not for long until I built my own brackets. Your right when you say they don't lift high enough and the mounts are too close to the ground. For you and a lot of people this setup is fine just keep an eye on the U bolts as with time and use they do loosen up. Keep smilin Mark

I’ve a Denali Plow on my Honda 700 side by side. 4th winter with it. Snows been super heavy so far up here this year so I used our tractor FEL last snowstorm. I got the plow frame installed today as we have snows coming for the next week. I tried leaving the plow frame on year round but kept hitting rocks and stumps in the woods. 6 bolts and she’s off (or on) it’s not a big deal. I’m pretty happy with the Denali plow . . .

I do like the plow but not the mounting brackets.
I think that you missed your calling; you should have been a engineer. I am not used to seeing you so early in the morning. I have a small John Deere tractor with a bucket. We are in the middle of a snow storm now and I will need to clear some snow myself. I wanted to get a blade, like yours, but the bucket will be fine. I think a 6' blade might be a bit much for your machine but I could be wrong. It is always good to see you. 😃😃😃😃

Some zip ties are handy as extra hands to hold a light plate like that in place while you line up and start the nuts. Have a great day.

Struggling to mount the mounting bracket, perhaps tie wire to hold the mount in place...just a suggestion for future projects. As an old grider, the welders called it "MTW" (Miller Time Welding) lol.

Marc I was just thinking about what you said on the heighth when you lift the blade and I thought maybe if you made some sort of an A frame welded to the crash bar in front and ran the cable to the top of the A frame with a couple of pulleys you could get a little more extra height out of it if you choose to do so

You might want to put some xtra metal on your skids.i have always picked up some sort of chisel point or cultivater teeth at tsc.rounded up on both ends so they can't catch on anything n if the legs turn i have drilled a hole threw the top n put a pin in it to stop the turning.then the new skids stay straight.i just weld them right on to the one's that are there.

good evening Andrew.
I already have a tractor with a plow so I won't need anything like this but it was interesting to see all that needed to be done. How does the winch work to lift it? Was it part of the kit or was it already on the UTV? Bill

another great video really enjoy watching on my snow plow i ended up adding a cable to limit how far springs could move ( would almost completely flatten plow if it hung up , i set cable to catch at about a 45 degree angle works great )

@randywells4674
Жыл бұрын
@markgalicic7788 maybe you should of made the whole blade system out of wood hope it works for you atleast it locust there is a reason they make saw mills out of steel today
Your modifications to stiffen the mount may seem like a good idea but by stiffening the mounts you hav In affect transferred more load to the frame of the machine. That sounds like a good idea but you have now transferred the weakest point to the frame and the point of where it will deform to the frame. Stiffer is not always better, I have straightened many messed up plow frames. I hope it works out for you.
@markgalicic7788
Жыл бұрын
should I change it? I never mounted a plow to a UTV what is the best way to do it? do they make a flexible mount that don't attach to the frame of the UTV?
@billtefft4315
Жыл бұрын
@@markgalicic7788 not being able to see the setup clearly I can’t give you a good answer. Take a good look at your setup and see if you can trace the probable route of the forces, if it transfers all of he force into the frame that may cause problems. If there are other weaker spots in the setup that is good because that is where damage would probably occur. On full-size pickup trucks and jeeps the A-frame directly behind the plow blade was the most common point of deformation as this was the weakest point in the setup. The best advice I can give is to look over your mounting system to make sure that your UTV frame is not the weakest point. Being an aftermarket system it might just be that your modifications were the best solution in this case. Good luck, do you travel to Wisconsin to do snow removal?😂
Marc you could have used an extra pair of hands 😊
@markgalicic7788

Oh for sure !
I didn't think that thing had enough power for a snow plow as it can't even handle its own four-wheel drive system when all the lockers are locked in.
Maybe instead of wooden blocks why not use Teflon blocks
"wooden blocks"? As a "sawyer", that would naturally be your first go to, however, you don't have a Tap and Dye set in that shop? I just think it would be better to bring the threads of the U-bolt to the frame! Those blocks are going to be a weak point....
