Today I replaced an old Goodman heat pump package unit with a new 18.5 SEER Bosch variable speed heat pump package unit. The existing ducts were in the reverse orientation with no room to cross them over in the crawl space, so I made a crossover box. I think it turned out great! Hope you enjoy!

Nice Bosch install, we've installed three of the Bosch pack's so far and have had zero issues. Customer's love them. Only thing I'd do different is add a cleanout on the condensate drain for ease of maintenance. We do a T instead of a 90 elbow right before it goes into the p-trap then add a cap on it. Makes blowing out the p-trap super easy

I have just one question? Why not have changed out that disconnect? Say in a week it drops voltage and you ruin a new compressor. To me doing a change out a disconnect, and or breakers are always part of a change out. Its covering your butt. The box was a good way to get out of a pinch. Why not use pipe and a canvas inside of it. I suggest cause if the outer jacket breaks down it will get stuck in the coil. Just an out of the box thought.

I am hoping you monitor your comments - here is my problem! My package unit (2003 ICP) is LOUD LOUD LOUD inside the house! There is nothing wrong with the unit.....it's just that the combined noises, probably mostly the distribution fan and air noise, makes for 55 db (way too loud) in the bedrooms which are on that same wall. Have you had problems like this? Having a super quiet outdoor unit will help a little, but I need quiet indoors. Do you think just getting a newer unit (any sort) will automatically be much quieter indoors? It's hard to sleep 2ith 55 db on and off.

I understand what you're referring to, on all the levels, and he likely does too. But a lot of people don't. I'm not here to demonize anyone or assume what someone knows, or what they're okay with sleeping at night. BUT, knowing how to build sheet metal and having access to a break and Pittsburgh is really the only efficient way to provide quality in a retrofit scenario. A thorough assessment setting the job up, in my professional opinion, would've been the best defense against this, now opened can of worms. Could've easily showed up prepared with rec duct and some D 90s, and got the customer to pay with the thorough analysis and proper advice. As an installer, I only bring any of it up to help save face in the future, as I'm sure some cost was ate here, unless there's a decent amount of padding which is a whole other topic.

My question is what is the price of this Bosch package unit if you know? I'm in the process of shopping around on upgrading my 4 ton split system on my 2600sqft mobile home to a 5-ton heat pump air unit. Long story short an energy audit done and was informed that my AC was too small for my square footage which I have seen in my energy bills set at 76° the thing ran or runs all day and half the night just to keep it at that temperature humidity is staying super high in the house my air company is suggesting a packaged unit cuz I'm not really caring for because it is not a variable speed unit and apparently they do not offer one and since I have a 17.4 kwh solar system installed on my home I am really trying to save energy and would prefer to have a variable speed unit they are rebuilding me from the ground up new air handler duct system and new heat pump I'm really trying to save some energy here.

Great video but I am not a fan of the hand made trap.

Find one good brand and stay with it. That's my advice after being in business for over 20 years. I get prices that are $300 to $500 lower than other companies per system just because I buy so much of one brand. I used to install several different brands, but it liked to have bankrupt me and I lost several customers putting in high tech junk. I've seen you installing one of those brands that's junk. I'm not going to name the brand. You'll figure it out.
