How do you like the bosch 2.0?

depends on the heat load of the house im 5:30 in sorry if you get to this ..... if your house had good enough insulation it would work down to 0. it actually starts to shit the bed around 19tbh, if yoh read the manual.

Those are very impressive numbers. Vastly improve over a typical heat pump. Yeah I know resistance heating gets a big thumbs down for energy costs but one thing from the days old- Our old GE WeatherTron heat pump’s air handler did run 25 years with only one actual break down and that was a blower motor at 7 years of age. My point to this is the cost of use is higher, but maintenance cost was at bargain basement prices which offset the cost of running electric heat when it was needed. So you pick poison! Boy I’m gonna have to ask Santa for a Bosch system.

Do you think they will ever be able to do say 42,000 btus at -15 or -20 Fahrenheit.

Thanks -- I'm curious about the Bosch IDS 2 but have a question about sizing: Currently, I have two single stage AC very old systems, both 2 tons, with one being a furnace and the other a heat strip for heat, . I want to replace both with a Bosch IDS 2 3 ton but baffled on what size the air handler should be? Should I match the air handler to the heat pump which would make them 3 tons even though what I currently have is a 2 ton, each zone cooling and heating 900 sq? I can see being oversized helping with heat but what about being oversized for cooling and that resulting in humidity?

This units can be downgraded with a dip switch, wich means. U can drop to 2 ton for summer and take it back to 3 ton for heating. You will have to use a lower Airflow for cooling.

Where we are the variable speed heat pumps don’t need heat strips at all. Our lowest temps may reach 17 degrees, which is quite rare. And honestly it doesn’t drop below freezing all that often.

@@marconantel7735 Technically yes, but I've run across systems were the installers forgot to make the configuration settings to tell the air handler it even had a heat strip, and nobody noticed for a couple of years until I was there just doing maintenance. Then again, the couple of times when it really mattered in the past 2 years here in the DFW area of Texas, most of our customers with heat pumps lost power during the worst of it, so...🙄 Those were American Standard systems, not Bosch. My main use of Bosch outdoor units is replacing the outdoor unit on the awful single stage heating and cooling zoned systems new construction builders have been installing in my area. The compressors don't last long in a single staged zoned system with fixed metering, oversized and/or incorrectly installed bypass, and the extremely failure prone Honeywell zone dampers...

Still using an R22, 1997 Goodman heat pump here in Northern Kentucky. I still cannot justify spending the money for a new expensive replacement. I’ve had a heartbeat for over 70 years and if I never have to replace it, I’ll be very happy.

@@pepperstinson3141 I've still got one Goodman at my house (came with the house). Noisy. Rusted etc. I haven't replaced it because even doing myself it doesn't really pay to as far as the slight savings people actually get on their utility bill. (takes YEARS N YEARS for the utility savings to = the cost of equipment) That said. I still call Goodman junk and is generally less advanced and they are more competitive for the lower end equipment. 😆😆😆

The Bosh heat pumps are a beast. Still will put out 70% capacity at 17 degrees and then only lose another 3,000 btu going down to 10 degrees

So the Bosch is able to produce 2 tons of heat or 24,000 BTU while a conventional gas heater will produce 80,000 BTU no matter the outside temps. Which one is going to cost less to run? Wouldn't you need to know how much the fuels cost to figure out the outcome? Also, wouldn't that apply with single vs two stage or variable? Some locations have 40 cent per kWh rates for electric such as California while others may only see 8 cents per kWh such as NV. Then, the same need to know are the rates for gas per therm or cubic foot.

I’m in califorina and my rate is 11 cents a kilowatt. I dont have PGE which I’m sure is where the 40 cents is coming from. The Bosch is good in California

@@Level-333 Our rates with SCE are .42 cents per kWh in tier two. About 5 to 6 times higher than most states while Nevada charges 6 cents in tier one and 8 cents in tier two.

Is really how this chart should be read? I have the same unit installed in my home. If reading the chart as being stated then at 1350 CFM at 60 degree ID you will get 51K of heating out of 36K unit at 72 degree OD?? I wonder if TC stands for temperature change.

do you keep your house at 60? i think it does mean total capacity,it would be around 46k at those specs-look at the kw difference with the changing cfm-the bosch will be most efficient at the lowest cfm that can heat or cool your home ,temp changes,insulation...all play a part

I've got a stand alone 12" Shopsmith planer, with variable speed infeed control, you can have for free, but you have to come pick it up in Texas.😜

I will probably get one in 2023. I am taking my time trying to learn more “pro” level woodworking skills. I have always enjoyed it, but never buckled down and tried to take it to the next level.

Bosch great for providing heat, and in dry climates-ver poor choice for high mositure climates, and more importantly, much of the United States with mixed climate and large trunk seasons -ie 70 degrees and 70 per cent humidity . Mitsubishi would be my first choice in New England, upper Midwest Bosch in Rocky Mountains and desert , but anywhere else, ie Connecticut to Florida, and west to the Rocky Mountains, you need a fully vactalbel fan, inverter condenser and a communicating system/thermostats. Thsi is not my ‘prejudice’ it reflects the basic design of the various systems approach .

Goodman has 3 levels of HPs You’re comparing apples and oranges. Bosch variable vs any single stage…?

natural gas heat just seems better. And there are so much natural gas reserves we will never run out.

uh,very true but you need to tell the current admin to open the pipelines and get people back to work-im in n.y. and there is a carbon tax bill that if passed will cost major dollars to people who use fossil fuel over the next 10 years,being forced onto a grid that can't support whats on it now...hmmm what in the world will happen next-major rate hikes

The Bosh heat pump uses a third the electricity of conventional heat pumps. If everyone had an invert heat pump, their would be plenty of power available. And I get the same temperature heat out of my Bosch as I do from my gas furnace. And Bosch isn't the only company making inverter heat pumps.

I am sure. It's difficult to explain in a few years. It is capable of 125 degrees. It gives you less in maintenance mode. It also only pulls 3 or 4 amps in maintenance mode. Heat loss in the vents is a different matter.
