First of all, thank you for all your videos on the X4. I just purchased it waiting on it to be delivered. It would be nice to get a comparison between the X2 and the X4, that's where I'm coming from. I've had the X2 for probably three years now and we just like to understand some nuance differences.

I’ve been a GoPro only guy for years and I personally liked the GoPro Max over the Insta360 X3, but the X4 is a game changer with all these new features you outlined amazingly! I am still waiting to get the Max 2, but for once I am seriously considering getting the X4 as well. Nobody says you can’t have both! I am sure I’m not the only GoPro fanboy now for once considering getting this as well!

I waited for the Max 2 about 2 years ago... Seems that GoPro isn't interested in 360 cams anymore. Bought the X3. Great camera and most important, easy and simple working software and a desktop app. Working bluetooth. Every time. GoPro is sometimes a pain in the ass with software...

X4 definitely has the upper hand this generation right now. GoPro Max 2 will have be just as good if not better. GoPro will have to step up game on Max 2 if they want to even stay in the 360 market. I fear they may be too far behind at this point because everyone’s going to already have an X4 by the time Max 2 even drops. Not a GoPro hater. Just the opposite! GP12 is greatest action cam ever but in 360 category the X4 is now king.

I'm a GoPro fan for years but no updates and lack of support with the GoPro Max and the differences between PC editing and the push for mobile editing lost me. I've been keen for something else for years but is almost double the price for an x3 worth it?

I ordered it yesterday right when it hit Amazon. Should be arriving tomorrow. I'm very excited!

26 - The cost of a repair lens is $99 since it WILL SCRATCH if you touch it on ANYTHING 27 - $99 was the cost of the repair for the X2 - so its probably much more expensive now! 28 - The turnaround time to get the lens repair is over 8+ weeks if they get back to you in a timely fashion (which they won't) 29 - The lens guards severely degrade the footage and effect the stitch - hence why no finluencer actually shows using them - so again back to no 26 - you will SCRATCH THE LENSES! I can keep going if you like - I have spent over $700 on ONE of these cameras and had to go through the repair process 3 TIMES - I finally GAVE UP ON USING THEM! Stop LYING to people and calling these things action cameras - they are just as fragile and there fore - not as versatile as they claim - as any other camera - even more so with these lenses!

Does the new lens guard fog up the same as the glued on one for X3? That is my only issue with the X3.

Thank you this is the best in-depth video I’ve seen so far. I’m curious though why did you not shoot in 24fps for the low light test? Did you use the post processing in app to help with lowlight and noise? I’m curious if there’s still more you can do to improve the low light based on settings and post processing in their app

Hi - all my videos are taken in 30fps - so I shoot all the footage in that frame rate trying to avoid mixing different frame rates. No, the image noise is removed mainly in the app - you don't have to do anything. And there are no additional settings or features in that regard.

Thanks a lot. A pity that the low light performance of the X4 is not a big improvement over the X3. Was hoping that low light performance would have been the same as the low light of the Ace Pro in pure video mode. So owning the X3 i will wait for another X5 who will hopefully be much better in low light

In ME mode the camera takes over the reframing - it recognises the subject and keeps it in the center of the frame. Normally this is done mainly using the lens looking in your direction - now you can change the lens and film another person which is then kept in the center of frame automatically

Very reasonable take on both cameras. As usual on this channel 👌 I love my X3, of course the X4 is better... Looking at the direct comparisons, there is an improvement in picture quality, but it is not as big as I expected. It's more like 15% better, not 40% as the 8K vs 5.7K would imply. The improved slo-mo capability of X4 is a clear advantage though...

How did you mount the selfie stick to your waist for that skiing shot? Is it some kind of belt? I can see the shadow but can't tell how it connects to you. And how stable was it when skiing at speed?

What is the 5nm chip used in x4 ? Was x3 a 7nm chip ?

Dearest, I see that you are from Trentino Alto Adige,Sud Tirol, near Merano, I assume. Magnificent Italian region, I always return willingly. 😉One question: have you tested with the standard lens covers and the pro version? In the X3 that I own, the reflection that is created between the lens and its protection is evident in particular light conditions. I see a good increase in video qualities in this X4, even in low light conditions. I don't like video HDR in the X3 and I confirm this in the X4. Apart from the need for a very bright scene, I find that images of people's faces often appear "pinstriped" or lose details and the skin becomes "fake". Excellent for the X3 are 360 degree photographs exported in Pure-shot mode or better yet the Pure-shot format in Raw quality and then post-processed for example with Luminar-neo or Lightroom. Have you tested with the X4? What is certain is that the smartphone management app should change. If I have to control the camera or set it remotely I find it absurd that it takes all this time to connect and that every time you open the app there should be advertising or friends' videos. Sir, I have been using Insta360 since the first version, I have Insta360 OneX, two X2, one X3, i have one R 360, one RS 360 and been using for YEARS, none of them scratched. And I use outdoors, for hiking, river crossing, travel. It is just the way and care you use, it will avoid scratches.

I’ve been looking for an RC camera also .. GoPro 360 seems a cheaper route … trying to compare x4 and gopro360

I bought the X3 on its release, but I have one reservation about the X4 - I am actually unimpressed with the resolution in real world reframed shots. Sure, it looks good on a resolution test card but in other shots, compared to the X3 it looks slightly out of focus when the video is paused and the details are closely inspected. Certain things are always better on the X4, such as power cables against the sky, but otherwise I am unimpressed. As I understand it, the sensors are the same and it is all down to how the new cpu in the X4 processes its output. Maybe because the X4 uses more of the sensor's pixels they have reduced the sharpening. Anyway, while I would buy the X4 in a heartbeat if I drop my X3, I will probably wait until then. Probably...

Me on an X2, will wait for X5 or X6 still. Mostly cause I have no more money. 😊

Wonder what the next model has to offer. For now used ($40) Samsung gear 360 still alive and kicking and with software like photoshop and topaz demo looks great.

Export is done in 4K - but the real resolution is 2.7K

Why all KZreadrs told to us prices for X4 like 500 $ if it is costs 560 € ?

Most people don’t need this. They don’t have 8k headsets to watch this back, they’re not making good 4K KZread 360 video and they’re only doing reframed video for social media that is only 1080p anyway. My friends have bought this, along with me, and they already had the X3- which I did not. They’re waisting money if they have no real purpose to get the upgrade. I only use the lens guards to protect the cam in transit, or if I know there is water present. Otherwise, they’re making too much lens flare, it’s getting annoying and you can see any kind of specks of dirt that pop up with the premium lenses.

Not having 8k headset is irrelevant as your viewing 360 videos , the 4k headset is only viewing a portion of the 8k 360 image so to get anywhere near the resolution of a 4k headset you need at least 12k 360 video

I'm currently testing both the x4 and the x3 I have to say when I film both at 5.7 in nice weather you can already notice a difference or when I film at 8k on the X4 Is this difference big enough to make an update? My personal opinion NO You can see more details with the The colors can be easily changed in the cutting program I think the x3 is a GREAT camera (the disadvantage of the X3 is that it takes longer to turn on and off and the battery doesn't last as long The disadvantage of the x 4 with the stick It seems heavier in the long run, which annoys me a bit I think the tone is the same for both But when I watch films on a nice day with the For example, when I film with the Pocket 3 and the Ace Pro in low light, there is a much greater difference. Not sure if you're watching on mobile but KZread on my phone always defaults to 480p pretty much unless I'm connected to Wi-Fi and I have to manually change it. I was running into the same thing on this video before I forgot I needed to increase my settings.

The mic on X4 definitely sounds better! Not by a lot, but certainly better... BTW, external noise can be reduced GREATLY by using CapCut editing software (free)! Mine is arriving tomorrow. Can't wait to use it. Thanks for your insights!

Try comparing similar items. The DJI Pocket is OK for walking around with, but it is fragile and definitely not an action camera. I’ve seen many of the Pocket gimbles crap out…

You could say that the P3 is junk as it doesn't do 360..

I've been with youtube since 2007 and the most important i've learned is if a youtuber says good, it is bad, and if he/she says it's bad, it's really good :) thanx for the video
