Inside the wild plan to reengineer coral reefs

Ғылым және технология

This past summer, conservationists in Florida did something remarkable: they took corals out of the ocean en masse to save them from an ocean heat wave. It’s just one new strategy of many that researchers are trying out around the world to save coral reefs from climate change. They’re also mapping reefs like never before, cloning huge numbers of corals to plant in the wild, and even breeding new heat-resistant species. Will it be enough? Maybe we should have begun with "what are corals" maybe? and how they are important?

They did. They said that coral was an animal later in the video, and they talked multiple times about how important they are for fish, the ocean floor, and what it means to lose them. Something they didn’t say though, was that certain corals are used as medicine, even in some cases they are used in cancer treatments

Thank you for bringing embedded corporate advertising into earth saving documentaries. Very refreshing. Perhaps you can put the endangered coral into Mr Zuckerbergs swimming pool. I can think of other places too.

Maybe the nanobots would help the coral if properly inserted? Could someone ask the Zuck if he's so invested into supporting coral growth through his generous yet reciprocal patronage?

I am generally suspicious of Facebook but in this case it just seems like a plain sponsorship. What nefarious reason would they have to fund a mini documentary about coral restoration?

Classic "no true Scotsman" logical fallacy, since it's not a video done purely without profit it must be completely untrue, nevermind any of the evidence presented.
