@@dannylooney7348ironically enough, medieval peasants were technically more free than modern "free people", because while they didn't have a lot of political freedom, they had a lot more personal freedom, like choosing your work hours and work pace as well as a lot less government oversight in general. For example, if you get in a Tavern brawl in the middle ages, the guards would give you a beating and throw you out, nowadays if you start a bar fight, you'd be arrested, fined for damages and the incident will be placed in you criminal record, hurting your potential for employment

@@Kombat-xh3kwlol thats actually not how that works buddy but the other way around. Many people have bought great houses (or other things for that matter) only to discover the costs are bleeding them out. 50cent is an example of that when he bought Mike Tysons old home. He could easily pay for it. Turned out the costs to keep everything well maintained and all bills paid is just lunatic. Its the other way around. When you are sure you can pay to maintain it all, then buying the home isnt a problem most likely.

Well, now the wealth disparity is even greather than in those times. Thanks to technological development the effectiveness of labour increased so much that we could easily feed and house everyone and yet millions of working people still starve so that a couple of billionaires could have an even more ridiculous amount of money and wealth. I have friends who work full time and are homeless. And that's the "rich" part of the world, I don't live in the Third World. Gotta love capitalism.

  • @mlodylechita7564

@@morgannull4685 It's capitalism, exactly as it was described by Marx - if you have time I recommend you read chapter eight of the "Capital vol. 1" (the entire book is hard and long, so if you aren't interested you won't get through it). Yes, factory conditions have improved somewhat since the XIX century, at least in Europe, but relatively to what they produce, the workers are even more exploited and they are still being fucked over when it comes to how many hours they have to work. I worked at a steel mill and we literally had an electrician who worked over 30 hours without any break. I myself worked almost 70 hours in a week (12 hours monday-friday and 8 hours on saturday) and for what? My health is ruined, I risked my life every day and I still only got a fraction of what I produced, barely more than minimum monthly wage needed to survive (approximately 5 dollars an hour in my country).

Luxury real estate agents will learn time and time again the hard way that “expensive” does not equal “valuable”. The single most expensive real estate ever sold was 4 empty floors on a building right next to Central Park in Manhattan. Property like that is what is truly “valuable” to the real rich people and until this property sells for more than 238 million dollars, claiming itself as “the most expensive house in the world” is a fantasy. If this house does ever sell it will be less than half of its asking price. “How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man?”

I think what I find fascinating about this home is just how skinny and long it is. This was deliberate, of course. When it was built there was no electricity or light bulbs. It relied upon natural lighting during the day, and likely bespoke, personal lighting solutions at night. That chandelier likely was once filled with hand-placed candles which needed regular replacement, and the various fireplaces provided the rest. A modern mansion would never had a long, skinny footprint like this, as it would not have to rely on natural light. (and it could include skylights, which were just not an option when this was built)

For anyone interested, this castle is in France Normandie and named "Champ-de-Bataille" (Battle Ground in english). You can visit it all year, the only room that is showed here you can't see is the library. Everything else you will see during the visit. I recommend it, it's marvelous !!
