Absolutely stunning, oh the history of Venice. A must place to visit despite the crowds.
We stayed there 5 years ago and without a doubt, it is luxury personified. The staff were exceptional and we were fortunate enough to have a room with a balcony on the street side. It was a gift from our son and one of the most breathtaking hotels we have ever stayed in. Venice is my wife's favorite place to go. What a beautiful and perfect location to spend your 40th Anniversary.

We stayed at the Pesaro Palace at Ca' D' Oro. It was small, quaint, clean, quiet, and had great service. And, there was a vaporetto station almost right outside our door.
This is what I would expect from a fine Old World hotel. Evocative of The Grand Tour days.
