If Aston martin pit crew did a better job than it was different story cuz in this track its not easy to overtake and Seb was much faster till last couple of laps, but still big achievement for Ocon, alpine and for the Legend Alonso

He was helped by the track which is a hard one to overtake on, and the fact that Hamilton had way more to lose. Then there's the Merc which is a big car and also has problems following other cars and got conceptually hurt by the floor regulations).

Huum, Ocon did a great job against Perez, Hungary is hard to overtake so easy to defend. Ocon tried to attack Perez but he was on medium while Ocon was in hard and of course the guy got a Redbull.

Alonso was irrelevant. Literally only held up Hamilton for like 8 laps / 70 and you think it’s gifted. Hamilton still had to pass Vettel who had DRS from Ocon. Honestly Alonso fanboys want to take credit away from drivers and credit Alonso with everything.

Alonso is such a nice guy, so different to his younger years. I remember Nico in commentary saying he would be so angry or frustrated or something if he were in fernando's shoes seeing your teammate win when you only finish 5th. But alonso was clearly so happy for ocon and it was so nice to see.

The reason why Fernando is happy for Ocon is that, unlike most of the drivers now in F1, Ocon has no background. From Wikipedia: While competing in karting, his parents had to sell their family home, which included his father's garage, to fund his karting career. After selling the house, they lived and travelled to races in a caravan Ocon also used as a motor home.

What surprises me is Alonso fought knowing he's got older tires, and a car that is way slower than Hamilton's. On the other hand, many of the people who were on similar strategies or just fighting Lewis for position never actually fought him and let him just go. Tells you it is tough to fight that car-driver combo. Hats off to Alonso. Alpine signed the perfect junior driver ;P

It's not like Alonso hasn't done this before. If he can defend against Michael Schumacher for 11 laps with a depowered engine to win the 2005 San Marino GP, he can defend against anyone.

This was an amazing race. I loved how Ocon didn't know what to do at the end and had to improvise haha. And also his race engineer reminded him to drink fluids. Amazing to see a teammate celebrating a junior's first win ever. Amazing wholesome race when the underdogs win it.

Words can't describe how happy I was for Esteban that day. Him and Fernando during that race was perfect teamwork. Well deserved win!

Honestly I still wanted Vettel to win despite knowing its going to be Ocons first win. But watching Alonso defend from Hamilton like that reminded me of 2008-2013 a lot so it still felt great.

The way Alonso defended blew my mind, ocon may be the winner but alonso won our hearts

Just shows how amazing Alonso is he did everything he could to get his teammate his first win. I remember watching an interview of Alonso after the race saying that was exactly what he was doing he slowed down his own car to keep Lewis back and basically sacrificed his own race because he knew if he wasn't coming in first his teammate at least should. What an absolute legend!

I love how Hamilton says about Alonso; "He's all over the place." No Lewis, he's in exactly the right place. Just excellent defense.

Thing is, Ocon was really important for Alonso in Qatar, like he kinda repaid him there. A bit sad that they seemed to work so well together last season and then sort of fell out.

Alonso had his time in the sun, he is so happy for his teammate here. Living vicariously through the younger generation, that was every bit his victory as it was Esteban's! So glad this pairing is flourishing.

1st victories are always amazing to see especially when none expects you to win. What a joy!

Watching this back after 10 months I still get a massive grin on my face. Such a nice result this. The happiness of everyone involved, the joy of the team, Alonso being like a proud father being genuinely happy for Ocon, and off course Ocon himself who just couldn't stop smiling.

Alonso's defending moves is absolutely sensation a true legend.

Alonso can literally be placed into any car and push them pass it's expected pace. 2017 is the most recent example (pushing a backmarker into being a decent-ish midfielder) or you can also look at his Ferrari years

Legends for a reason... Alonso was super awesome in his defence here, and to know that he and Vettel have most overtakes of 2021. Wow, you need these legends to continue many more seasons. All the more awesome when you realise it's not blue flag overtakes.

I really love how Fernando parked up the apex at Turn 4. Such a great defense.

The quality of this video, the whole mood of it, is just incredible. We need MORE of it next year. And ofc the race!! It was delighting to see this in my home country, well done Alpine!😍

What made this race amazing was Fernando had his first victory at this track and he helped Ocon with his first victory as well.

i may have cried a little at the end. ocon went through so so so much and fought hard to get his spot in the grid and i’m still so happy he has a win to his name. of all the drivers on the grid, he’s one of the most deserving of it.

This is so much better than the drive to survive style of coverage. Just the facts and using the natural tension

Man this season is going to be remembered for so many great moments throughout the field. We are truly witnessing one of the most captivating F1 seasons ever (in my opinion at least)

I'm french so I'm extremely happy for my little frenchie. But most of this is due to the insane defense of Alonso, what an incredible driver.

there's nothing border line about fernando's defence. totally clean. nothing dicey. respect for that guy's drive. estaban drove perfect. top drives from both.

Alonso's defense here was ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!!! Congratulations Ocon!

When this is one of the first F1 races you were able to watch live. It’s impossible not to get hooked afterwards.

Alonso deserves a top car. Still one of the best drivers on the circuit. World champion material.

Mercedes messed up really bad at the start but Lewis recovered back to P3, his drive was brilliant. Alonso's defense was absolutely crazy and Esteban's mature drive topped off a great race.

@@jinanshmehta3518 he didn't have to overtake any of the difficult-to-pass cars either, apart from 1 Ferrari. The remaining McLaren (which is probably the hardest car to overtake) and Red Bull were damaged, and the rest of the cars were at least a second slower. The real reason Lewis didn't win was Alonso somehow keeping him behind, despite Lewis having a 3s pace advantage at the time

One of Aplines greatest races. Ocon was perfect in his drive and Alonso’s defense of Hamilton was a masterclass

I love the Alpine outfit. You can tell just how much this meant to them at the end there, and it having been able to hear some of the conversations during the races about what was going on made me fans of the entire team. Great video.

You forgot to include the part when Esteban runs through the pits as his team is waiting for him. That image was just too exciting..

I always come back to this when people say Max was gifted a championship. Bottas took out both red bulls. Max was running away with the championship at this point and then it went downhill from here. But Alonso is such a beast for this
