Yes Faith does bring hope and peace when your faith is in God. When we put our faith in Christ there is joy unspeakable. But if we put our faith in a person who says he is a Christian, but he is clearly not a “Follower “ of Christ.then we can’t expect to have hope and peace. Jesus is all about love… he even instructs us to love our enemies. Jesus loves the little children and would not approve of any mistreatment of them . These people thought that the second coming was near. Jesus never told his followers to starve themselves before the rapture. If these people were in God’s Word they would have seen that this man was not of God. If you put your faith in God you will have hope and peace. When you go to Church don’t just blindly except everything that is being preached. Pay close attention to the sermon and make sure it lines up with the Bible. There is no excuse for a Christian to not be in the Word of God and in prayer. Don’t expect the preacher to be holy for you. We are all called to be holy. Reading God’s Word and by God’s grace, being obedient to Christ. . and you will have hope and peace.. Glory to God! But Jesus said, Allow the little children, and forbid them not, to come unto Me; for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven. Matthew 19:14 But I say onto you, love your enemies, bless them, that curse you, to go to them that hate you, and pray for them, which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that you may be the children of your Father which is in Heaven. Times like these where I'm glad I am an atheist and think all religion is Bullcrap . Ever sense Christian missionaries showed up to Africa all they have done was brain wash those poor people and made it worse over there . We also got Christians in Uganda who are stoning to death gays , throwing them off rooftops and literally making it a crime there to be gay. What I find hilarious is other Christians want to make excuses and claim well," they just aren't Christians ." What a bunch of bologny, they got that idea from somewhere . Christians in the United States are also killing children . Cause we have certain states who have religious shield laws where parents are allowed to get away with practicing faith healing . Instead of taking their kid to a doctor or hospital when they have serious medical conditions . The Christ church of latter day saints literally has a grave yard full of children who have died from faith healing practices . What I don't get, is when something good happens to a Christians, they find their car keys, they land a job , or their mortgage gets reduced , then God is great . However when something terrible happens in the world, like a child dying every 5 seconds do to starvation , disease , or hunger , God just so happens to works in mysterious ways . This is just like playing tennis without the net. It's old and it gets tireding. Meanwhile a serial rapist and murder , who spend his life killing and murdering women, just need to come to God, come to Jesus , and after a final meal of Kentucky fried chicken . Gets to spend an eternity in heaven. This has nothing to do with morality .

This hurts my heart and soul. I weep for the families, the friends, for all.

I have been a pentecostal all my life and I have never heard a hint of mass suicide or starvation. The church where I met Christ, (Full Gospel Churches of Kenya) in the late 80s has never had a scandal since 1943 when it was founded. The same case with Kenya Assemblies of God, Pentecostal Evangelical Fellowship of Africa, Apostolic Faith Church among many others.

I know both Malindi and Shakahola quite well. I am European and married to a Kenyan from this area. Malindi is a town of about 55.000 nhabitants while Shakahola is a village in the district, som 50 km from Malindi. People in the coast are some of the poorest in Kenya and least educated. Churches are everywhere and I think that 9 out of every 10 churches are there to take whatever small money people have. But there are a few good pastors around who are genuinely trying to educate people. The most churches are typically based on an American models, as told in the docu. American missionaries are seen all over Kenya To me, it is preaching of doomsday and devils, healing with people squirming on th floors, screaming and shouting pastors. Most of whom have absolutely no educational background. They come with a Bible and start to talk on the street, hoping to get a crowd of followers ho will build a church (shag) where they can continue to attract paying members. Mackenzie was no different. I think he was a street seller initially. They look fo money or power or both. And they have gods conditions in an area where critical thinking is non-existent (as shown with the church elders in the video). Corruption makes it possible for these radical pastors to operate. Near Shakahola lies Chakama, another village, which houses the local chief. I find it very hard to believe that he and his predecessor didn't know that something fishy was going on signing death certificates without viewing bodies. Another local pastor was often seen with Mackenzie and this pastor was clearly wheeled in by Mackenzie's view that children should not go to school as he tried to persuade his children not to take their children to school. And I can go on and on.

But fellow Jews you were only allowed to keep as slaves for 5 years as opposed to other slaves .

Our knee jerk reaction when people join cults is to blame the victims. However, the tragedy points to the failure by our education systems. Our schools do not teach skepticism that can avert situations like these. The problem is compounded by poverty especially in Africa. Arresting the perpetrators is fine in the short-term, but including skepticism in our schools and poverty alleviation seems like a long-term solution.

same here in jamaica ..im seeing people saying that its because of poverty but this practice has been done in our society by rich or poor wealth has nothing to do with the decision they made, they were led to believe in an idea of returning when dead and the bible amplifies that that the issue not hunger!

sadly there is EXTREMEISM in every belief set..this is an good expose of an unbalanced belief structure.. a great example of why emphasis on works can be deadly..grace mercy compassion and love should always be primary regardless of faith choice

Times like these where I'm glad I am an atheist and think all religion is Bullcrap . Ever sense Christian missionaries showed up to Africa all they have done was brain wash those poor people and made it worse over there . We also got Christians in Uganda who are stoning to death gays , throwing them off rooftops and literally making it a crime there to be gay. What I find hilarious is other Christians want to make excuses and claim well," they just aren't Christians ." What a bunch of bologny, they got that idea from somewhere . Christians in the United States are also killing children . Cause we have certain states who have religious shield laws where parents are allowed to get away with practicing faith healing . Instead of taking their kid to a doctor or hospital when they have serious medical conditions . The Christ church of latter day saints literally has a grave yard full of children who have died from faith healing practices . What I don't get, is when something good happens to a Christians, they find their car keys, they land a job , or their mortgage gets reduced , then God is great . However when something terrible happens in the world, like a child dying every 5 seconds do to starvation , disease , or hunger , God just so happens to works in mysterious ways . This is just like playing tennis without the net. It's old and it gets tireding. Meanwhile a serial rapist and murder , who spend his life killing and murdering women, just need to come to God, come to Jesus , and after a final meal of Kentucky fried chicken . Gets to spend an eternity in heaven. This has nothing to do with morality .

14:14 I find that especially sad because that aunt seems like she could have been a very good new mother to those kids, like a competent person of good character - in stark contrast to all the delusional, anti-intellectual and amoral faithful christians in this story. I think the aunt's wish to become a muslim is probably because in that area, you can either be a christian, or a muslim, or have no community. and the former are all insane and stupid.

@@leticiastar30 nah, she lives where she does, and (assuming that my prior assumption is correct) if she does need to convert to islam to live better there, and she can either believe or fake belief to a satisfactory degree for the local muslim community, she should do that. broadly speaking, islam in subsaharan africa has always been less strict and usually less misogynistic than arab islam. both islam and christianity integrated a lot of local animist practices, and there have been failed attempts by incensed arab islamic clergy to get the africans to muslim properly for a thousand years. part of that effort though are today's al qaeda and daesh-affiliated murder cults like al shabab and boko haram, which she should stay away from. I haven't heard of them in kenya, but they can't be far away, they're definitely also a risk in kenya.
