Inside Emirates A380 Service Center - How Did They Bring an A380 Back to Life?

I visited Emirates Engineering in Dubai, which is the world's biggest A380 maintenance facility and can house up to 11 A380’s at one time. It was an eye-opening tour; I’ve seen so many interesting things that we normally wouldn’t have the chance to.
First, I was shown an Emirates A380 currently going through a heavy 3C check; with all cabin interiors, seats, panels and bins removed. It is very different from the fully decked-out A380 that we normally fly on.
Next, another A380 was being prepared to return to service after storage and was undergoing a gear retraction check (gear swing). The 575-ton A380 was on three jacks, with its landing gear up. The engineer explained all the necessary tasks for the A380 to return to service. Take a look at all the interior work being carried out.
Next, I visited the cabin interior seat shop; where you can find all the seats (First, Business and Economy Class) that came off the airplane and were being inspected. It is very interesting to see how engineers paint the panels and put wallpaper on planes.
Finally, I visited the paint shop; to understand how they paint and apply special decals on airplanes. I saw the Emirates UAE 50th special anniversary livery in the paint shop too.
I would like to dedicate this vlog to all the hard-working engineers, who work day and night to ensure the planes are well maintained and safe to fly.

Former Boeing here... have been in 747 from pile of parts to final cert. Always amazing to see how big it is with no interior panels, carpets, or seats. During construction, the elevated catwalks form perfect contours of fuselage. There is maybe 1 inch clearance. Workers can move about without fear of falling through the cracks. Never been inside an A380 yet, but hope to before they are all retired.

Having worked in aviation maintenance I enjoy it when people like you show all the hard work that goes into the job (though most of us don’t consider it work. We love it to much for it to be work.) Next time please show the looks on the workers faces when the airplane goes for its post maintenance test flight and talk to them as the airplane gets ready to take off. I know I have stayed at work after my shift to watch a few airplanes or helicopters go for the test flight. It’s the joy of working in aviation. Also my friends and family will tell you it’s one of the only times I truly smile.

The longest flight ever recorded. Was a hawk tailed pigeon which flew from Devon to Brisbane non stop in 1986 . It flew for 7 days straight while chipped and was recorded , at 10000 feet highest . When it arrived it went in book of records . Unfortunately the pigeon was then attacked by a cat and lost a wing . It never made it back to Devon .,

The advantage of the A 380 is the huge internal space - which enables luxury cabins and a big business class, without reducing the economy seats too much. Smaller Aircraft like the 777 could carry also 550 people, but they can't offer roomy 1st class cabins and offer 550 seats at the same time.

They use too much fuel, can’t imagine the airline making a profit on half empty planes flying to the Middle East.

Beautiful, insightful & reassuring. I never realised airlines quite literally stripped these birds right down to their bare backsides and then put 'em all back together again. That's dedication to maintenance & safety right there.

Very nice video. I had work for an Airline for 44 years in maintenance and really enjoy the detail of work in Emirates as shown on this video. Also, in a IFE conference I hear a speech from Emirate's IFE Manager and was greatly impressed on how they managed it.
