Phenomenal process, I can't get my head around how the pleating moulds were even created, this is true craftsmanship and thankfully it will never die because Chanel owns it.

I run Ciment Pleating ltd in the UK. The moulds are truly the treasure and can take up to 4 weeks to make the complicated ones. If anyone wants to visit us then feel free to come along. We are happy to show off our craft.

Pleating the fabric is an ancient technique, not exclusive to Chanel, it was already used in Egypt, on the African continent.
What I would like to see is the molds being constructed. It must take incredible precision to make two that fit together so perfectly.

Amazing detail. We take it for granted the work that goes into creating the wonderful pleating, etc. It's so important to preserve this craft.
Wow, just amazing! thank you so much BOF for all these.
Everything, whether fashion or food, tradition is an integral part of it.just amazing how simple origami is applied too the world of fashion, hats off to the one who has so much patience in creating such a masterpiece
I was amazed the whole time !!! Such great craftsmen ship.
Thank you BOF. Your videos gives me soo much life and hope in what I do 😍 🇳🇦.
Value needs to be placed on these traditional methods. Maybe the best way to do that is if the results weren’t so expensive. But at the same time, the craft is worthy of the price. Dilemma
Amazing - the precision and creativity is out of this world 👏
what a spectacular video!! Please give us more!!!!
Keep sharing this kind of stuff, very interesting, thanks!
This is so amazingly clever! Whoever came up with this process was a genius. I use a manual pleater for doll trim and it’s no small feat to control thin, lightweight materials such as silk while pleating. These molds can create intricate dimensional patterns that are unique to the fashion house. Wonderful!
Fantastic video! Great job!
Love this. More please! :D
l love this so much - especially for now - how craftsmanship can survive in this modern changed and changing world. Foe a while now I have been watching Beech leaves unfurl in the Spring - they are pleated. And I work with paper to make jewellery so will try to use this pleating technique apropos of Beech leaves and Lognon and Chanel etc to create my take. Thank you for making this film.
it's really really really really really really (euh stop) incredible.
Belíssimo trabalho artesanal! Único..
Thank you for sharing this amazing technique. I had no idea how it was done. - Sarah

EXCELENTE TECNICA
Hi is it better with ironing or steaming the pleats? Thanks!!
Não falo inglês, gostaria muito de receber curso dessa arte .....trabalho muito lindo ❤
Could you tell me please is it possiable to do from natural fabrics, or its done only from polyester?
I hope it is around forever, We pay for the work as much as anything.
I like this and want to try…. What are the papper you use called? And How to make the pleates permanent??😔😞😩I need help
is there any other way to do that? what is the name of the tool box to permanent the pleat? I don't have that tool. Is there any other way to make pleats without the box machine? can it be steamed? or how to do the iron? Did they give anything special to make the pleat permanent?
Where can you buy those papers to to make these skirts and the fabric like that
which fabric used for this pleating?
How they bake to keep the pleat
If we get the younger generation involved and teach them then it can survive
What kind of oven is the fabric put into. Does the garments always have to be dry cleaned?

Mary Frame I think it's an oven with steam, and no, pleats that have been baked can be washed as normal. But Lognon is a haute couture atelier, so the clothing are probably only washed by professionals.
How can I get the materials used
Hello, can I know which is the name of the instrument that you use for this technique? I am trying to translate in Italian. Thank you.

it is a pleating board. These boards are probably not available for purchase, but you can find a tutorial on youtube on how to make a pleating board for regular accordion pleats. Although your comment is a year old, i hope this helps you in some way.
