Yessir!

One of my closest friends, who is studying fashion design in London, introduced me to the legend of Issey Miyake. His dad is the one in charge for the production of the pleats line - both Homme Plissé and Pleats Please - and has been for many years now. So I wasn't only lucky to get some pieces as presents, but when introduced to Miyake and the whole Japanese fashion industry, I did also start engaging more with what I was dressing and my style in general. Great video, dude! New subscriber here

I found a pair of black pleated Issey miyake trousers in a charity shop for £1!!! One of the best finds I've ever had and also one of my most comfortable trousers

As someone whos seen fashion evolve from the aughts on. Its interesting to see Issey pleats evolve from something niche women used to love and kill for to a meme'd mens fashion thing. I definitley think the loose and wide silhouette has moved mens fashion forward in a positive way no matter how "typical" they become.

I love that wearability/comfort and function/versatility are foremost in his designs. I also did not know that the compactability of his garments is a very conscious choice because of the limited space in Japan. Thank you for this video. Yohji has always been my favorite but I've been getting into Issey a LOT lately.

this is my first time ever hearing about Issey Miyake and Makiko Minagawa, and the work they put together is genius. Their philosophy and how that ties in with the designs they had made hits home with me on a personal level. You can feel the purity of their work. I'm glad I was able to research about Issey and Mikako through your channel.

I’ve been really working to just self-educate about modern fashion in the last few months, and I could watch 300 hours of this sort of analysis and love it. I think you mentioned in another video that you were worried about going too deep and alienating audiences. As long as you make the material contextual and approachable like this, I can’t imagine this sort of thing being anything *but* a richer, better version of any similar analysis out there. You are educating people of your generation (and mine) to analyse understand and really value their clothes to hopefully REJECT FAST FASHION... to respect and really value the genius and timelessness of designers like Issey Miyake ( yes I’m an old duck baby boomer born in Tasmania in 1963) if you are lucky enough to own an issey miyake piece keep it love it and pass it on to your children. It won’t take up much space but the little it does take up is important. ☺️

Been looking for some for a min😭

Issey just closed its main men’s line at the end of 2020. I missed the email alert and the staff in the Ginza store told me at the beginning of Dec so I scooped up a few final pieces. Fortunately Homme Plisse will still be around but if you can find Issey Miyake Men on online resale shops definitely grab it.

I love Issey Miyake! The first time I went to Paris, I went to the Issey Miyake boutique instead of going to the Louvre--the Pleats were there and I did the thing you are *never* supposed to do in Paris--I manhandled the merch. I had to touch them and feel how thing contract and spring back. My goal in life is to find some Pleats Please garments in a thrift shop.

Speaking of mowalola a vid maybeee🥺

I personally wasn't able to find the homme plisse pants that comfortable :0 Sitting down with them made it feel like they were going to flatten the pleats, and the polyester felt gross and oily on my skin. The pants also didn't flow as much, with it sticking to my legs instead of bouncing. I'm glad the pants are popular though, and Issey Miyake is getting more and more well known. I'm always looking forward to trying on new things from the brand, but I was a little disappointed with the homme plisse trousers.

Yeah, but that was the least successful from the design point of view. It was very basic and just because Steve Jobs ordered in hundreds and wore it daily does not mean it was any good. Everything else he did was better, more inventive and revolutionary.

Technically Alexander was his middle name but rumour has it Isabella Blow advised that "Alexander McQueen" would work better as a brand name compared to "Lee McQueen"
