WELCOME BACK TO DESIGN SEED!
In today’s episode, we will be revealing this 3-story residence that is built on a steep slope that enters at the mid-level, with a dramatic view that faces the south to the forested hill and west to the sunset.
The steeply sloping site is at the end of a cul-de-sac on the edge of a forest reserve named Gunung Soga, recognised as the green lung of Batu Pahat.
Let us present to you the Floating Tree House!
Thank you for watching!

The owner has a beautiful mindset of gratitude and acceptance of nature's gift.

I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.

@Elijah-Brian The crazy part is that those advisors are probably outperforming the market and raising good returns but some are charging fees over fees that drain your portfolio. Is this the case with yours too?

Just a warning for anyone who might fall for it, this whole conversation is a scam bot made to redirect you to fraudulent brokers. Check for yourself, all these accounts are fake and have been created around the same time, and fairly recently at that.
Absolutely love these episodes. Respectfully living amongst nature and animals. The thoughts put into every detail.
Inch and Khoo are match made as designer and client . Such a moving episode!
The idea of reusing the old material to build a new house is worthy of learning from how to design a true residence for the normal people. thank you for sharing the wonderful video.
I've been advocating the same mindset as Koo to many homeowners and residential developers. If you build near nature, then be a part of nature. Mosquitoes will be rid of by dragonflies and frogs, there's no need to worry about them. If some birds fly into your home, take it as a gift instead of treating them as a pest. If you build near the forest and then just shut everything else out anyway, why build in there in the first place? It's quite an inspirational video. Thank you for this.
Inch Lim has to be one of my fav designer, amazing vision and confident
The chinese element wooden door is unexpected considering the overall exterior. All doors aligning is also a nice touch.
The nature make this house a masterpiece, I love how seamless it is and the thoughtful design.
The design is so well done. The interior allowing in the exterior - truly spectacular. The space is tranquil. I love the central pond and that it is fed from the natural spring water and allowed to feel the rain. I am a home designer and this captured my imagination. Congratulations to all involved and the homeowners.
She cracks me up...and I slowly accepted living here...
As a life long student of architecture no building construction is closer to my heart than those of the Oriental designers. The simplicity and elegance they put into their floor plans is second to none and the harmony with nature they invoke is simply stunning and takes ones breath away! Hats off to this architect for the vision to create such a master piece!
A house made with the environment and nature in mind - absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing this unique home. Hats off to Inch and the owners 😊
Lux is understated and just timeless. That view!
This is one of the most incredible houses I've ever seen and the designer/owner's commitment to living in harmony with nature is very moving. This should be an example for everyone.
Wow! Beautiful! My Heart & Soul Smile. Thank You!
Beautiful house. Thank you Alex and your team for the wonderful capture.
Absolutely breathtaking.. Thank you Design Seed for this..
Amazing. Such cool people
Brilliantly designed ❤👍👍👏👏👏
Can't compliment you enough for the ideas and visuals in this video. The ability of the architects you feature to transform and combine brutalist components into magical spaces is so refreshing. So much of these concepts that I've seen in some local project videos really miss the mark with kitchens that have no natural light, or a heavy, bunker type feel to bedrooms and bathrooms. The form of this house both follows and directs better function. Just gorgeous.
My hometown. Thanks for showcasing 👍🙏🙋🏻♂️
Uplifting and enlightening!
As an architecture student, I learn a lot of things such as architecture terms, the details of the design and how to embrace the nature. Thanks for bringing this wonderful video to us.
Amazing home, love the sense the designer have, that impart onto the house.
Good design, good location and good houseowner
Big love to that roof , superb

The dogs are so adorable and owners hose the dogs too. This is a beautiful family and a beautiful house.
So beautiful, definitely one with nature 😊
The owner has the right and kind attitude
Ive never seen such a beautiful house design in my life. In my country which the Philippines, our design was just so basic.
Inch is to me without doubt the best landscape architect in malaysia. It is a dream if i have my small backyard designed by inch!!!may the wish comes true...hehe
Being a huge architecture fan myself, and having a eye for it, design and beauty as well, I have to say you Peopel did a great job.
My fav house, and I be loving the owners and designers respect of nature.
Aside from this amazing home, I was moved by the owners heart and gratitude for the Lord's greatest gifts. ✨✨
Great people, lovely home, great work!
Nice video. Also, Seems like "roller shutters" is gaining traction for in-door-out-door living concept. 😮
Truly inspired by this episode. I love the way the Architect created the narrative of space from one to another area by framing them through the door, it gives us a transition to another space and brings out curiosity and embracing nature without crossing much of the habitat and nature's privacy. Respect nature and enjoy what nature gives to them in return. The Scenery is absolutely picturesque from the balcony. With the vision of the architect and the natural person of the owner even though the architecture design was not breathtaking but more into functionality, but it really paid off with the scenery. One thing I liked the most was the Architect curated the spaces by bringing nature into the house such as a pond that really brings harmoniously into the space as well as the benches that oversee the forest. A Life by Design!
This was so beautiful, it brought tears to my eyes...
This house is zen
Nice home to live.❤❤❤
super meaningful content

I love this architect! He thinks just like I do
This is tranquility ❤️
the mere fact that something like this exists and that we are capable of living that exact same life is truly unfathomable

Looks like an absolutely wonderful place to live. Love the design & location.
must be nice!
谢谢!
Thanks
some of the older day wisdom to reduces the mosquito is to allow a good airfow , avoid humid envionments and to not locate heavy broad trees near the houses. that why kampung houses have a large open area and built at stilts.
That would be a nightmare when there's a storm
The first things had in my mind is Mosquitos

Just 👍👍👍👍👍👍

nice house with good scenery. The only concern i had is landslide that could be trigger with any new construction further up the hill ( if any) and without proper soil stabilisation works. Anyway i love this house.

wait wat are the roller shutters for? To prevent thieves from stealing the koi fishes?
He starts talking about coexisting with wildlife and not disturbing wildlife when it encroaches… and she starts looking more and more stressed.
I’m sweating thinking about how much all that teak is worth. 🥵
Can you tell us more about the Dizayner? The garden house is my favorite.
Amazing Mindset from the Owner, where is this forest reserve? Templer?
alex, what brand is the folding & sliding door system?
I really envy countries that rare have typhoons. In our country, houses like this will have a hard time surviving from super typhoons.
Love the fish pond selectively open to sky. However @546 it looks like there is no barrier to falling between floors. Yikes!
With such open concept design in the tropical climate, I was always questioning the mosquitoes and other insects and the challenge of design and mechanics and materials to deal with it. The nature, dragon flies is the solution?
@YellaBellaReno

Untouched nature has a way of keeping the balance. It’s all about not having stagnant water, unless that water is also populated with the things that eat mosquitos, like dragonflies. Dragonflies have the highest kill rate of any insect, and they’re very effective hunters; they catch 95% of what they chase. When they are nymphs, which is most of their life, they eat mosquito larvae. When they emerge from the water, they take to the air to eat mosquitos and other pesky fly species. 1 dragonfly eats over 100 mosquitos a day.
Amazing openness. What about bugs? What’s realistic solution because tropical areas always have some bugs…
He made a very good point about losing nature. As a johorean, i was shocked to learn that Rhinos once roamed our forests. In JB, all you can see is space wasting landed houses as far as the eyes can see. This is why we need more high density, high rise developments to minimise land usage and accommodate the growing population. I planted rose bushes and many native flowers in my graden and felt so happy when a butterly landed on my hand for the first time last year. Removed carpet grass and let the native wilflowers grow in naturally that doesnt require watering everyday. Just small things i can do to help the environment.
I would put wood slats on the gap between the benches and the floor. Other than that, house is beautiful.
This is in sg or MY?
Hi, How do I request for you to review a house?
The tall windows, lights and fans located up high, the high number of glass surfaces, etc. make cleaning and maintenance very impractical over time.
What about termites? not worried?

Where is this house located at?
Ok, I"ll bite.... how much does something like this cost to build these days (2023) Alex? General ballpark is fine.

I was thinking the same thing. So much teak wood, architect fees, hillside construction, etc. Must be a pretty hefty 7 or 8 figure US $.

If I were younger and had kids, I might venture to this for that amount, which is not bad at all for what you get. No, I just want a seaside condo where I don't have to worry much about almost anything.
I dunno, the setting is great but the house looks like a half-finished mid-end resort, it just doesn't have the finish and more organic touch I would have expected. The concrete is so drab and sits so heavily on the land, and the lack of human scale is so weird on such an intimate site. Good ideas, indifferent execution, maybe?
Is it me or doesn't that Older dude look like and Older version of Alex Lee!!😂
