Insane Purpose-Built Garage of our Dreams: Matt Farah’s Westside Collector Car Storage
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Matt Farah is an automotive renaissance man. Car journalism, podcasts, vlogs, and now - construction?? Matt’s new venture, Westside Collector Car Storage, looks more like a Gran Turismo garage than real life. But the path to get there was not easy, ranging from out-of-code sidewalk reconstruction, to damn near getting a moat installed (that he didn’t ask for). But the end result is a drool-worthy collection of cars, from weekenders to long term storage cars.

I think Larry was just distracted by all the stuff in the shots including the cars but Im sure he will learn from this for future non car storage related shoots where someone is pointing at stuff. Matt Farah’s such a cool dude, met him once at a super car Sunday out here in LA years back, very nice and humble man. Glad to see him doing well this is one crazy ass facility.
One thing I never want to hear Larry Chen say: "We have to go into this bathroom" One thing I never want to hear Matt Farah say: "You want to close the door if you really want to make it quiet"
I remember watching Matt's videos years ago. Such an awesome building and you can tell that a lot of thought went into this place. Love the video!
Farah is the Man great building ii like that you are showing the varied aspects of car culture
Your outro gives me goosebumps everytime! ❤️🔥
Awwwww the Conrad pillow in his office made me smile. RIP brave Warrior, Valhalla awaits.
Forget your once in a lifetime photo shot , look at my book shelf..😂😂😂😂
Matt is living the dream. This building was a nightmare to build but he did it. Lots of respect.
I think using the extension cord reels is a great idea for getting power to the upper levels, but they definitely should conceal it within the frame of the lift for a cleaner look!
I’ve watched several videos of Matt’s new garage. This one was pretty cool with the stories behind the art and fun facts about Matt ... very cool. Good job.
The dab pen @2:30 is all I actually seen in this video. Matt Farrah be high LOL
It's funny that everything that has been done in the building was always a first or has never been done before. This guy is Picasso of our time. The Steve Jobs of buildings. The da Vinci of collector car storage. All hail the king
I watched this whole video Larry. Glad you did this.
In term of engineering sophistication, this garage is like the Panama Canal of automobile storage.
Evo 2 cosworth is my fav in that storage facility
That was more fascinating then I expected. Super cool!!
man, thats a really cool business to own... matt really figured out his life
Wow. What a great video....and two pros conversing....amazing. Love when you go into the office and that's the first time he gets protective......spend millions on one of the best garages in the world then only worry about wonky art. Great video and superb presentation
They getting real high at the end 😂 I'm weak
Larry... that outro gives me chills EVERYTIME. Great ending to a great tour.
So many things in that building are very satisfying!
Love the Talking Heads reference, yes, dating myself.
These guys are both very successful, but still so humble and friendly!👍 Matt needed to build a basement, for parking, for the parking garage😂😂👍 (All these building codes. Sounds like Sweden. (Not the earthquake regulations though))
I'm proud of you guys!! Keep it going!! I'd love to pay y'all a visit when the regulations allow to store a vintage or two.
Missed these kinds of videos man! Great work :)
YESSSSS!! Matt is such a cool guy - he came up to me in Malibu a few weeks back and I didn't even know it was him. Down-to-earth guy with loads of personality. Great episode!!
Larry Chen and Farrah. Enjoyed listening to him on the podcast a few years back
"Now, where would you like to get high?"-Matt Farah 2021 @41:13
This was great to watch!
I followed the build of this place and it's shame more of us don't apply the same single mindedness that Matt, and his crew, did to the problems we come across. Maybe he was just in so deep that there was no way of backing out. Whatever the reason was that he ploughed ahead I'm glad he did, as this place is an astounding monument. I hope it's a ripping success, as it deserves to be.
As a vest wearer I can appreciate that Matt is truly a vest enthusiast!
Amazing content as always
Worked for an LA company that was constantly expanding and something i learned with all this "up to code" stuff is the inspectors for the most part just want to be bribed and i always thought because of this that bribery is how you get a business running in Los Angeles glad to see Matt took the hard way out and actually spent the money to fix all their dumb requests I never seen this approach before.
Amazing! Love Matt and Larry. Too bad the fire inspector screwed Matt, stupid codes...
Matt Farah;s garage looks so nice
This whole building is amazing. Definitely worth checking out the details over on Smoking Tire.
The basement is basically the bat cave with those lights.

I love the sound of shooting a triple black car at night
Beautiful guys, amazing garage.
Me and my best friend when we’re old: “wanna go play on the lift”
Love what you did with Conrad's collar RIP
Absolutely Love the details. I am an engineer who built Buildings and machines for a living, so the details of construction are very impressive and I can totally relate to dealing with Government types who just follow rules irrespectively of logic. Hopefully one day when we humans grow up we will have governments that can think for themselves. The turbo CX 500 Turbo is interesting because I had a 1983 650 Turbo Yamaha at that time, so I'm not so sure the CX was first but if it was it was by weeks or months. Kawasaki came out with theirs several months after I got mine and it had 112 hp, so Yamaha did a recall on my bike and modified it for extra boost to bring my power from 85 HP to about 112 HP. Lastly I am are major car guy as well but unfortunately am not in the money league of most of the cars there but instead I built it all myself. I bought a 1975 Formula 400 Firebird brand new in Feb 1975 and still have it but I turbocharged it in 1979, drove it for 10 years breaking everything. In 2005 I took it out of storage and rebuilt everything to handle 1000 Hp reliably so it wouldn't break this time. Check it out at "Johns 1975 Formula 400 Firebird" on facebook, the whole story is recorded. The car has also been totally rewired to be controlled by an industrial Computer (PLC) that integrates with a FAST fuel injection system etc. Maybe an interesting shoot? (That is Henry Winkler with me at the 2013 Local car show with the firebird).
Best walk through of WCCS.
the fire suppression is insane

Cameraman; don't look at him, look at where he's pointing!! Larry, take some classes or get someone else to film it. Other than that, your interviewing skills and questions/knowledge are top notch! 👍
Love the green Landy!!!
Acoustic sound dampening sheeting on the undersides of the catch-pans of the lifts would have to be the first thing I’d do in that amazing garage. The sound of a vehicle’s engine is like music. But when reflected off of numerous wavy metal surfaces............ It just seems...........
