I have a 13ft Solo skiff, and I go out 3 days a week. I've seen a pod pass by me only once, in Florida. And I did the same thing. I lifted my outboard and just sat there for an hour. They were around me, under me, and never touched my boat. They're rare here because the water is so warm. They're so beautiful, happy, and where they belong. They'll never hurt you. But I know they like a little space, especially with a baby orca around. And you were moving faster, and I think she was just swimming with you. They swim and jump in the wake of boats, doing 30 to 40 mph. They love that. They've never put a scratch on one human in the wild. They've never touched a kayak. They have killed 4 people in captivity, and the way they are treated, is the reason why. And Sea World should be held responsible for those 4 deaths. Whatever orcas are left, should be returned slowly to their families. They've released two already, and they're doing just fine. At least no whale can ever be taken away again, and they can't breed them in captivity anymore. 🙏 🌊 🐳

Exact opposite, that whale was irritated and was herding him out of the area. As nice as wild animals are even if you are close, STAY AWAY FROM THEM when they are just with their children. Never attack? You mean like the 13 boats they've attacked near the Strait of Magellan? Some of which they've destroyed and sunk?
@thenecrosanct4906
11 ай бұрын
@@ritcheymt Orcas live in pods, tight-knit family units, around the world. One pod is not the same as the other. They're known to use different hunting tactics, exhibit different behaviors and have different diets. Only 1 pod is known to have attacked boats: the one in the Strait of Gibraltar (which I assume you meant; I've seen no reports for this from the Strait Of Magellan). Behavior is taught within pods, but rarely across pods. We're talking about 1 pod that lives in the northeast Atlantic region and orcas are not a planetwide migratory species; in fact, not even all pods migrate. Even if you did mean the Strait of Magellan in the Pacific side of South America, these 2 pods have never even met. There are more pods around the world in different regions around the world that have not exhibited this behavior at all. What I'm also wondering is if these orcas would actually attack humans in the water. They're damaging boats, but we can't even say for a fact it's an attack, since that implies we know their motivation, and we don't. Would they attack humans in the water? I mean, we're not very nutricious for oceanic animals. And if their regular food is in low supply they'd start migrating more randomly (like the Southern Resident orcas have had to do of late) around the southeast Atlantic looking for food and not just start attacking humans.

@@ZolindigoVery funny. And the way it should be. :). Thanks for sharing this video with us though… I can definitely see why your legs would be shaking. Even I gasped and got scared just looking at it, when he/she came so incredibly close. That is no joke. They literally could tip us in seconds. And kill us. It’s a good thing they are so smart and so nice. But considering they are beginning to disable boats, and ram them, maybe we should - as a society - stop being a*#holes to them, by hunting them to capture them for Sea World and other marine parks around the world. I can’t blame them for starting to attack the things that attack and kill them. We would do the exact same.

@thenecrosanct4906
What a beautiful experience and you were so sweet with the lovelies. Thank you for being kind to them and sharing with us.

Love the clip and your respectful behaviour towards these beautiful animals! What a nice video but I can imagine your heartrate going up when the whale was trying to swim under you haha :D
AWESOMEvideo brother! Wowwww..what an experience!
these animals are starting to take action against the most dangerous predator in their environment. HUMANS
I've kayaked with pods of dolphins, but this is on another level!
I think they were having some fun with you because you were fleeing, these are highly intelligent animals and far as I know they've never attacked humans, I tell myself I wouldn't be freaked out but I don't know, having such a massive animal circling you probably triggers some deep animal instincts to flee and it's only natural very cool video and experience.

@@supers0nic77the only attacks on humans have happened in captivity, for good reason.. You can’t keep such intelligent animals in a small enclosure and not expect them to become agitated.
You should rename the video to “ Insane Killer Whale Encounter” The way you word the video gets it into the youtube algorithm

When you said the male was the big boss thats not true, in orca pods the oldest female is the boss

Yep... and males do NOT mate with females of the their pod either how smart is that? I suppose this is why pods get along so well as these animals do NOT fight with one another. well maybe a little...

That’s true. They live in matriarchal societies. Great video though, and this gentleman is brave nonetheless.

This guy is the coolest!!!! What a heart stopping encounter for sure, but truly epic!
Beautiful video!!! So blessed!!!
Is that a Hobie Kayak? If so, what model? Great video. Insane.

Looking for your fish stringer! They've probably encountered kayak fishermen before...
To say hello, only curious? Seriously? They were probably teaching their young how to corner and pin their prey. And did so perfectly.
I love this guy he didnt go stupid and say lets get out and check out these whales boys, he used common sense and backed the fuck up and let his heart pumping tell him how to react. I also think the sound of his voice actually helped him not to get flipped, i dont wanna sound crazy but i think the whale could tell by the sounds/vibrations
Wow I would have gone to as shallow as possible the first time. Ugh that was very scary! Pretty day tho … glad you made it
Agree this was way too freaky mang! Amazing tho, thx for uploading. Your area looks beautiful.
I enjoyed you video. Thanks
Orcas are so curious and so playful. You think they can’t come into the shallows and they sure can. They’re beautiful. We are so lucky they do not wish to eat us. We’d be in deep sh!t if they wanted us. Lol.

That was crazy. I would have panicked. Great job keeping calm. Lol
Beautiful scene of the Orca’s fin high out of the water and the sun right behind it.
I don’t think there’s a reason to be scared, even though they are large and capable of taking you out, she would have done so if she wanted to.
Me watching this video at home: That's so cool.

Was the last orca cutting you off from retreating back to the shallow water? It reminded me of dog herding sheep.

I think she was just curious
She looked like she was racing you in the end there.
I accidentally drifted on top of a manatee once in my kayak. It panicked when its back touched my kayak, bucked me and my kayak straight up in the air and motored off like a submarine. Can't even imagine what an orca could do!
You know they're only interested in your liver, right? Afterwards, they might flip you end-over-end a time or two, but that's just how they roll. Remember, you're in their domain, and they own you.

“Mammal. Whatever…. “. I love Seinfeld too. Great memory. For those who never saw it or don’t remember, this is what George Costanza said when he was risen up by a wave and landed on top of a whale, before pulling the golf ball out of its blowhole. Absolutely hilarious.
You are so lucky ! Verry nice 👍👍👍👍
Young orca have been biting off rudders this year. Seems like new fashion.
