    People always forget about the Ocean Spirit(the black fish)... they just give Aang all the credit... Ocean Spirit possessed Aang, just like Roku did at the Fire Nation temple...

    Just to clear something up I've seen a lot of people misunderstand. Even with the Avatar state, the avatar still isnt normally quite THIS powerful. He literally merged with the ocean spirit, thats how he was able to summon THIS level of power

    The ocean pushes, the moon pulls. Have you noticed Aang and the Ocean Spirit exclusively pusehd water without the Moon Spirit? Detail to remember for later: the library Zhao mentioned. If you wanna know what happened to Zhao you gotta watch The Legend of Korra after this show is done. and damn, I didn't know you speak German!

    Well, Katara is not really a "master" yet. You can say she is taking on account what the circumstances are to get Aang training on the way, but she's still got things to learn.

    Probably my favorite thing about AtLA is that no is just given ANYTHING. Katara starts off barely being able to life a fish out of the damned water, and through tiny incremental steps that you GET TO SEE, she becomes great. Every new ability is earned through careful plotting. Every character - bender or no - gets better and stronger. Nearly every episode builds momentum off the last. And it only goes up from here.

    I don't know if you noticed but Yue's eyes were blue even when the moon was gone and nothing had color! Edit: That form is called Koi-zilla by the Fandom, and Aang wasn't really in control, it was mostly the spirit of the ocean using Aang's power, just thought I'd clarify

    In case you haven't been told yet, Fire Lord Ozai is voiced by Mark Hamill. :) Season 1 finished in epic fashion and sets the tone for the remainder of the show. Season 2 starts from here and just keeps getting better. Yes, we are enthusiastic about the level of detail and dedication to quality shown by everyone responsible for this show's creation and production. The worldbuilding and lore are rich and, for the most part, very well-thought-out. From the martial arts, to the accuracy of every bit of Chinese text shown on-screen, to the various homages to other properties (Dave Filoni directed several key episodes of Avatar and is also an integral part of the Star Wars production universe, from Clone Wars to The Mandalorian. The influences are readily visible in the various plots and production of certain episodes). It is a great show, in all aspects. One of the most consistently well-written, well-acted, well-conceptualized, well-produced-and-directed shows in the history of the television medium, animated or not. There are a LOT of good reasons to love it. :D

    Calling Zuko evil seems like a bit of a stretch. He was scarred and disowned by his father and sent on a wild goose chase to capture the avatar. He has no ambitions of his own like Zhao does, other than to return home. Remember what Iroh said, ‘The important thing is the Avatar gives Zuko hope.’ Zuko is simply a hopeful young man chasing his dream of returning to his country. If he was evil he would’ve killed Aang in the ample time he had to do so in that frozen tundra, and he would’ve reveled in Zhao’s torment and despair as he was dragged into the murky abyss, instead of trying to save him. Hell, he even acquiesced his own ambitions to ensure the safety of his crew in an earlier episode. He has only ever tried to capture Aang, and even left Sokka and Katara’s village on his word in the first ep. Not to suggest he’s Ghandi or something, simply that he’s unfortunately been misguided by his twisted family and country. To quote Iroh, ‘[Zuko] is a complicated young man.’ If he’s evil, the rest of the fire nation is utterly irredeemable. Including Iroh. He was a general in a genocidal military. How many people do you think he killed? But I doubt you would consider him evil, if I had to guess Great reaction, glad to see you’re enjoying the show still. The first season is definitely the slowest, but has a compelling way of pulling you into the narrative, and by the end you’re fully hooked. I’ve been especially enjoying some of your particularly insightful commentary. A lot of people look at this show (on their first watch) and take it at face value, disregarding deeper themes in the vein of ‘oh it’s a kids show from Nickelodeon,’ but if you put in the effort to look deeper, oh boy will you find depth On to the next book, it only gets better from here

  • @shadowreacts

    @shadowreacts

    Oh did I say evil ? Don’t even remember that haha. Maybe the wrong choice of words. But yea he‘s different from Zhao and I can‘t help but like him even tho he‘s continuously on our ass 😂. He‘s looking for validation from his father and respect/honor from his people as the prince. I feel like at his core he‘s a good guy and you listed some examples that prove that. We also can‘t forget that he‘s pretty young and lucky to have somebody like Iroh guiding him. I’m excited to see what they will do with his character in the next Book.

    Just as an offhand remark, half-jokingly in ep 19 ‘just don’t end up evil like Zuko!’ You actually said at the end too that you don’t think that, so I didn’t take it too seriously honestly. Just wanted to expound on the thought and give some perspective regarding the idea (which others do actually suggest seriously occasionally) Hyped for book 2! Many people claim several of their favorite characters are introduced next season, eager to see your take on what’s to come

Now, don't think of me as a megalomaniac, but I do see some parallels between me and QE2, she too uses silence to lead. Damn, 4 months only??!!
