INSANE David Gilmour Sound With Amplitube 5 & Free Preset - Another Brick In The Wall Part II Solo

In this video I'm showing you a David Gilmour esq sound I built in Amplitube 5, similar to the solo sound in Another Brick In The Wall Pt II played with my '54 True Historic Gibson Les Paul Goldtop.

All the presets IK provides suck in my opinion. The ones that are good are like the Brian May, and the Dimebag stuff, but the rest are simply way too bright, and just not good. I honestly just use the "default" patch and start tone building on my own and can play for days this way. But this video here really shows just how amazing this damn software is. IK deserve every penny of the price for this one, and really, it's way too cheap.

Sounds great I set up my amplitude 5 exactly like you did but running through my mission engineering cabinet it sounds like it is two rooms away, do I need powered studio monitors to go with the amplitude if so which brand and model?

Hello Dave. Sorry for my english i'm french. I have reproduced exactly your settings on my amplitude 5 and i don't have the same tone of you. I play on an epiphone lespaul custom. I feel my sound isn't as fat than your. Do you have an idea please ? Thank you, it was very interesting to follow your explications

Hi there! I'd use the neck pickup and put another EQ at the start so you can add some depth and level to the sound. Thanks for watching. If you want to ask anything else then feel free.

Hi, you said that you can't put compressors or effects etc., before the DI. I believe that is wrong. If you right click on the "DI" box in the signal chain you get the choice of "DI Pre" or "DI Post". By using that, how would you adjust the signal chain in your video, if at all?

  • @domminney

That's interesting. Thank you for the correction, I did check this with someone at IK, maybe this has been added in an update or maybe I missed it first time round. Sound and processor wise I doubt it would change much. The bypassed amp is basically just the DI line.

Awesome vid love the tone. Unfortunately when I load the presets into amplitube they load fine and everything looks the same but I’m getting really low volume and cleanish sound, can hear it’s compressed but it’s just not working for me unfortunately 😫

got it workin using Juans info from below comment : Great setting! I´m playing with a strat and sounded really low, even with the output as you used it. Then (using the neck pick up) I set the rox compressor at 0db, and the next White2A a little bit higher; then I activated the bright in volume in the American Lead.. sounded great!

I have never used anything digital, so a lot questions come to my mind. With a relative cheap audio interface, like a Focusrite Scarlett, can I get these tones? How much the audio interface will interfere in that aspect? Great playing and tone btw

I can't exactly remember what interface I was using but it was probably either my Behringer X32 desk or a small Focusrite. I didn't have my midas at home at that time. I think you will do just fine with a Focusrite!
