Spotted these on instagram the other day. That outsole looks superb especially in these grim conditions mate. Superb combo with the socks I have been using a similar setup recently too. The seal skinz get the job dones mich vetter than gore tex shoes. Nice review Tom! 😎🤘

good review buddy, your braver then me battling it out it muddy conditions in cold wet conditions. Ive resigned myself to the treadmill :)

See sportsshoes.com have some left at discount. www.sportsshoes.com/product/ino2156/inov8-x~talon-ultra-260-v2-trail-running-shoes-~-aw23/ I had these last year, great grip found the actual weight 298g a lot more than marketed 260g. This winds me up a tad.

I find a lot of the marketed weights are based on a US8.5 or 9 or or an average across all sizes, either way a UK9 generally comes up heavier@@mikeshaw4610

Bought these to compare to my current choice - X-Talon Ultra 260. The Mud Talons (wide fit) were wider but toe box was quite shallow and I could straight away feel my big toe pushing up against the shoe. Noticeably less suitable for long distance runs as well due to the lower drop and less cushioning. Shame as the mud talons are a better looking shoe and the new foot shaped toe box is very welcome. Hopefully other new Inov-8 shoes will be better suited.

Just had the same issue - really frustrating. I am going to need a 12 in these and I normally take an 11. I did find I could remove the insole and get more toebox room.

Nice. Shame I didn't see these come out just before I bought some Salomon thundercross. They have the good grip but cramped toes. I think we've crossed shoulders on the forest way sometimes.👋

I mainly wear them for extreme wet conditions. Maybe cross along the Forest Way at some stage. Good to have some flat hard packed trails in these hill parts. 👍

I've found Inov8 too narrow in the past but these look much more accommodating. I hope this is a new trend for inov8 in producing their popular shoes in narrow (precision) and wide fits. The build quality issues are worrying. Delamination on a brand new shoe?

I agree, the Inov-8 customer representative was good and agreed to usual 12 months manufacturing warranty in place so you should be protected against this if issue arises.

How do these compare to the x talon ultra 260 v2? Which do you prefer? Also do they size terms of width and length?

I prefer these so far as they are approx 25g per shoe lighter, wider and feel like softer midsole. I mainly purchased them for extreme mud/wet conditions. I have a large shoe rotation. Can’t comment on durability at this early stage, hope the build quality stand the test of time. Tbc

I'm assuming it performs great on mud but how does it perform on wet rock and for scrambling sections on long winter trail runs in the peaks or lakes?

Not tested them extensively at this end on wet rock, from Inov-8 website - Featuring our trusted STICKYGRIP™ outsole, the MUDTALON SPEED has 8mm long lugs for gouging through mud. Uniquely positioned, these talon-like lugs then release the mud just as quickly. Our STICKYGRIP™ rubber will also cling to wet rock, giving the ultimate grip for hill, fell or mountain running.

Other than the width how did they compare with the Adria's speed pro SG?

ATSP-SG UK9: 232g, lower stack, firmer Lightstrike midsole, better drainage but more open mesh, narrower, precision fit, faster for shorter races, good lockdown. I have taken them over 20 miles, good for more minimal running to help build strength in feet and lower leg. IMTS UK9- 275g, wide, looser fit, softer midsole, more cushioned, prob not as fast and less racey, not as good lock down. Can take to longer distances as more cushioned. More aggressive lugs at 8mm, bit flappy and could do with a bit more of a rocker. Works well with extra volume for waterproof socks. Larger fit.
