Innovations in demand planning (03/30/21)

Description: This session builds on the previous one. It explains some of the fundamental obstacles encountered by the traditional approaches and the various approaches that are currently gaining traction with early adopters. The role of academia is covered. Topics will include demand modeling, machine learning, probabilistic forecasting and so-called demand-driven alternatives.
Speaker: Stefan de Kok is a thought leader in the supply chain planning and forecasting domain with over 20 years’ experience. He has performed many roles, ranging from technical and functional consulting, product design, product management, and development at multiple supply chain software companies, as well as serving as a hands-on as planner and forecaster, across many industries. In the process Stefan realized that problems with dramatic impact on accuracy, efficiency and stability, which he witnessed everywhere, were due to critical flawed assumptions. He dedicates himself to lifting supply chain to a higher level, through outside-the-box innovation backed by rigorous science. He is a regular speaker, consultant, educator, blogger, and is writing his first book, “An introduction to Probabilistic Planning and Forecasting”.
