Inline Skating: First 20 Weeks!

Ойын-сауық

I started skating in Feb 2016 and this is my fun journey to betterment.
I film myself to see technical errors but it wound up looking too cool to not make a video.
I'll make another video in the future as I get stronger.

    Ha! My first 20 weeks looked way different than this... but I do find this inspirational. I particularly like the dry land training clips as I am looking for a routine for off-skate days. Thanks for sharing!

    If you're going start to skate and are already super fit and able to do these exercises, then skating is going to be easy peasy.

    I started self-learning skating and very much agree. I simply lack the muscular strength to maintain balance and keep falling on the ground.

    great job! you're going fast foward. but if you do an exercice like those skate jumps do it a little bit slower to make the technique great👊

    hey Andrew - first of all - hail to you for going the mile and try to be as good as the pro nowadays. its hard indeed, but you will get there, especially if you can go around a custom boot for better power transfer and conquer the double push tech. one thing I can see is that you need to lower your body, since you have not so long legs and exercise more or try to visualize in the mirror the D shape recovery sequence. you are now, at least in this video, pushing with your toes. you need to push like in the off skates exercises, with the heal, so the power from your heap will be transferred to the frame on the parallel side. you will get more power and control. use the arms correctly, same in the mirror. for the outside edge to achieve the double push you need to find more details on the internet. try the vids from Eddy Matzger: kzread.info/dash/bejne/f4J_xKmxhsm4qKw.html

    I do quite a few things for a living: Teach yoga, learn new skills, study sports mechanics and anatomy, and workout. But I had never skated before Feb of 2016. I just applied my skills to this discipline with the goal of skating the 2016 Pamplona marathon. I did that, the Prague half, and Berlin in 2016 after 8 months of training from scratch. :)

    xlnt for beginner! more real skating less dryland. if you can skate outdoors more. i suggest practicing more by keeping more or all of your wheels on the ground. looks like you are lifting up on your toes a little too much to get all out of your stride. if you want to get fast in a shorter time, I also suggest lots of drills on 1 skate. just roll on 1 skate as long as possible then push off and glide on the other skate. eventually, try S turns to learn what the inside and outside edge feel like. i also noticed your skinned-up knees lol! you really must be trying to skate fast. Remember always wear a helmet and have fun!!

    Uhh...his technique is almost not good? Can you explain what he is missing? 0:48 His got the knee bend on point, arms are swept back and I clearly saw he is leaning forward. It's perfect. Instead of criticizing him and putting a full stop there, break out the suggestions about this dude can do so that his technique can be *almost better*.

  • @YogaBetter

    @YogaBetter

    Hey Jan. Yes, anything that has you folding forward at the hips can hurt your back. Arching your chest up (to extend your spine as much as possible) will give your more power and protect your spine. + I do LOTS of yoga to keep my back healthy, and have shared the work I do at my new website here: my.yogabetter.com
