Thanks man, when they replaced the tires on my Honda Civic they didn't replace the valve stems, one cracked and started leaking, so I replaced it myself but had trouble re-seating the tire, your trick got me there, it was just enough to get the tire to hold air and re-pressurize. I was looking for alternatives to the starter fluid trick and this worked perfectly. Have a great day.

Very Good. I knew it needed a strap, tried using my belt, of course you cant get it tight enough. I have one of those straps. Doing it wrong is hard assed work. Thanks for explaining everything.

All that I just want to say is thank you for this wonderful video, coincidentally enough you posted it on September 19 2021 and exactly a year today September 19 2022 it helped me solve a doughnut tire problem that the bead refuses to seat on the rim,as a matter of fact I did not finish watching your video when I stood up and went back to the tire with a tie strap and just like that I was able to solve the problem. It is so funny that I use ratchet straps almost everyday and I have never thought of something like this.

So I've used the ratchet strap method in the past and I've got to agree that it can become a bit dangerous to release the tension. The concept of the strap around tire works but instead of ratcheting it find a bar or screwdriver you can use to essentially turn the strap into a tourniquet. Then when you're filling it with air you can slowly loosen the tourniquet and you won't have to release all of that potential energy in the strap at once.

I just bought a new tire and had this same problem. Didn't have a ratchet strap so I took a hammer and kinda just hit the tire to somewhat get the tire inline with the seal. Got most of the tire seated except for one part that didn't wanna seat. Took some WD40 and sprayed the inside of the rim. It did eventually seal. I think next time I need to mount tires, I'll try the ratchet straps. Looks so much easier to get a tire to seat than losing my mind trying different ways to do it.

For sure. Dried mud or debris will cause it to leak.. also forgot they make a tire bead sealer for people dealing with a scuffed up rim or damaged tire bead, that will seal it up with those issues. Thanks, take care.

*IT WORKED!!!....* or *MAYBE* IT WORKED!!!(?).... or I'M NOT SURE IF IT WORKED!?? Tire was flat for a couple of months before I could get to it. By then, it wouldn't take air; there was a gap at the bead. 29 degrees outside today and about to go to 5 degrees tomorrow - so if I don't get this working today, that rubber might *never* pop back into shape to seal at the rim. *Soooo* to be on the safe side I: 1) heat gunned the tire (to make the rubber more pliable, 2) jacked the tire off the ground (to take the pressure off the tire so it would have a better chance to form back into a circle), 3) ratchet strapped the tire like in this video 4) set the compressor as high as it would go - 140 PSI in my case (you want as much air as possible blasting into the tire as quickly as possible so that the air is going into the tire faster than it can come out at the rim. This is the same concept as an "Air Tire Bead Sealer" aka "Air Blaster"). And VOILA! That sumabitch took air - and I didn't have to end up taking the tire off the car to take it to a shop. It might have just needed to be jacked up to work. Or it might've been the heat gun. Or it might've been such that when I tried to put air in it before, the compressor was only set to 90 PSI... Or a combination or any or all of those. Hopefully the 2 minutes to read this will spare you the 2 hours of headache of having to take the tire to the shop.

I saw another vid where they said to remove the inner part of the valve stem with needlenose, there's a small rubber gasket on it that can burn and get destroyed if you put too much starter fluid on or near it. Since there's no reasonable way to tell I looked for alternatives and this worked for me. Using this trick I could inflate my Honda Civic tire with a bicycle pump. Cheers.
