Indoor S'mores Maker | Does It Really Work?
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
S'mores are campfire favorites, a dessert made with graham crackers, chocolate, and roasted marshmallows. This machine promises to cook those marshmallows to perfection, but does it actually work? Chef and food writer Matt Degen bought one to find out.

I received this as a gift months ago. Used it once and I didn't like it. I was too impatient and held my marshmellows too close and they burst into flame. Gave it the roasted flavor, but dangerous for inside using my method. 😂
I have one and it works !
Great review. And you are sooo right. I repeatedly told my 12 year old son not to let the marshmallow touch the hot grate. Then I let mine touch it!! LoL I got it for 5 bucks at a garage sale. I'm tossing the electric part but keeping the plastic holder to use for the supplies or chips with a dip dish in the center

Thanks, and that’s a great way to salvage part of this device and make good use of it!
I just got one from Costco and it works just right you just need some patience but it tastes just right.😋

Good to hear. Glad you’re having better luck than I did. 👍
Good effort, it probably just wasn’t designed right. Your right, the good old fire is tough to beat. 👍

Thanks for the video. Very helpful. I'll be taking this right back to the store I just literally picked it up from.

After watching your video I decided hmmm lemme try my flat top. It can't be any worse than this thing and it wasn't. Lol It got the marshmallow browned quicker than this thing but it also just about melted off the skewer on to the burner but I caught it in time. It wasn't burnt like I like but it roasted a nice golden brown. My craving has been satisfed. 👏🏼😁
Very helpful. Thank you for this great video and review.

You have the best S'more maker sitting right behind you. A gas stove is second best to a good ole camp fire. Get some wooden chop sticks, stick a marshmallow on the end and you're ready to S'mores to your hearts content.

And likely much faster, too, lol.

Works with an electric stove as well, as I discovered with my daughter, since we live in an apartment.

I don't have that type of stove otherwise I wouldn't have purchased this thing. I like my marshmallows burnt and it seems that this isn't going to get me that result so I think I'll return it to jcpenny. Darn it

@@MissMcD A gas grill or a burner to a turkey fryer will give you a burnt marshmallow. Otherwise, a fondue alcohol burner would be your only option for indoor cooking. However, I'd check first to make sure the residue from burning gel alcohol is safe for direct contact with food.

@@illiniwood ok thank you
Me too I have one too
It was both helpful and humorous. You saved me from wasting my money o one. I used to make mine in the kitchen on my gas stove. I now have an electric stove so was looking at this appliance. I can melt a "more" in the microwave and get a facsimile that will have to do. I did see an air fryer recipe I will be trying soon.

So glad you enjoyed! Yes, I think you'll be better off with the microwave approach or just using marshmallow spread, for that matter. Thanks for watching :)
220 volts compitable works?

Not here in the US. It’s standard 110-volt.
coooooool
Have you heard the outcry over how they made smores on the British Bake Off a few weeks ago? In the oven, nice and neat? Maybe this thing is made in England. lol I like to make them in the microwave (because I don't really like the burnt taste and I like how the chocolate melts), so I can't complain about authenticity. Maybe this could be a good hot dog roaster?

Lol, I hadn’t heard that about the show. Too funny. And yes, this might be better for hot dogs. At least if they fell in the plate they would sizzle rather than slime. 🤣
You can get a mini kitchen propane torch.more versatile and less mess.

@@MissMcD Well, it's the thought that counts! (And gift receipts are always helpful)
Thank you I just bought one for my daughter-in-law for her birthday and I can see that it’s not going to work out well

Indeed -- I think it's good in theory, but not so much on execution.

Glad to assist. I wish it could have worked as well as marketed. Cheers 😀
I guess I would be better off just holding the marshmallow over the burner on my stove and I would get the same effect as this thing.

Today I do not want you to buy this. I buy it and it's other auto. Like give me the wobble saga for Easter the other day ago. Was Easter. I didn't even get it. It said that's the whole thing, so I don't want you to buy it or want. To ship to your house. Bye have a good day
My friend bought this for our girls night. It’s not worth the money. It’s horrible.
