Dharavi is one of the largest slums in Asia, located in Mumbai, India. It is a vibrant and bustling neighborhood that has a unique character and culture. If you're interested in exploring Dharavi, a walking tour is a great way to experience its local food, markets, and street art.
Here are some tips to help you plan your Dharavi walking tour:
Find a reputable tour operator: There are many tour operators that offer walking tours of Dharavi. It is important to choose a reputable tour operator that follows ethical practices and respects the community's privacy and dignity.
Dress appropriately: Dharavi is a conservative neighborhood, and it is important to dress modestly. It is also recommended to wear comfortable shoes as the tour may involve a lot of walking.
Be respectful: Dharavi is a community of people, and it is important to be respectful of their privacy and dignity. Avoid taking pictures without permission and respect the local customs and traditions.
Try the local food: Dharavi has a rich food culture, and you can sample some of the local street food during your walking tour. However, make sure to choose a reputable food vendor to avoid any health issues.
Learn about the community: Dharavi is a diverse community of people from different religions and cultures. Take the time to learn about their way of life, their struggles, and their aspirations.
Overall, a walking tour of Dharavi can be a unique and eye-opening experience that allows you to see a different side of Mumbai. However, it is important to plan the tour carefully and choose a reputable tour operator that respects the community's privacy and dignity.
Dharavi is a densely populated neighborhood located in the heart of Mumbai, India. It is one of the largest slums in Asia and is home to an estimated one million people, living in an area of just over two square kilometers.
Despite being known as a slum, Dharavi is a vibrant and bustling community with a unique character and culture. It is a hub of small-scale industries such as leather and garment manufacturing, pottery, and recycling, and is known as the "informal economy" of Mumbai. Dharavi is also a popular tourist destination, with many visitors coming to experience its local food, markets, and street art.
However, Dharavi also faces many challenges, including poor sanitation, overcrowding, and a lack of access to basic amenities such as clean water and healthcare. Despite these challenges, the community is resilient and has developed its own systems of governance and social support.
In recent years, there have been efforts to redevelop Dharavi and improve living conditions for its residents while preserving its unique character and industries. However, redevelopment plans have been controversial, with concerns about gentrification and the displacement of residents.
Overall, Dharavi is a complex and dynamic neighborhood that reflects both the challenges and resilience of urban life

I spent 2 weeks in Mumbai- many more videos to come. I'm not a millionaire to pay for expensive internal flights from each city to other city. I've been all over India in the past. This time I only spent 1 month and I focused on main cities (keywords) that people may be interested in
There is tiny niche in the tourist genera of being taken to an unknown exciting locale by a semi trusted person.
Do u really really love it there
