Index Card Uses and Storage Idea | ShannonMedisky.com

I ❤️ index cards! They're cheap, easy to find, and have countless uses. In this video, I share some of the specific ways I use index cards-including how I store all of mine.

You can punch hole(s) and put them on rings, cording, ribbon, or use them in discbound notebooks with a punch. You can use them for artist trading cards. You can use them as ephemera...and glue bits of fabric, newspapers, receipts, etc...and then write on them and stick them in your journal. I LOVED when you said you MAY have far too many of them. I have them everywhere! Loved this video!

Ah! I feel so seen and accepted. Lol Psst! Don't tell, but I just cleared out another drawer to house my index cards. I start to feel a bit panicked when my supply starts to get a bit low - which it never does. 🤔 Is it weird that I'm already looking forward to back-to-school time?! I ❤️ when the back corner of Target converts from barbecues and lawn chairs to notebooks, markers and - yes - end caps file with index cards!!!

Oh? lol. Do tell. Ha! I have a thing for paper, office supplies, notebooks, pens, pencils, markers, and...well...did I mention notebooks? lol. I buy every type of glue stick, comp book (graph, wide, college), highlighters, etc when back to school rolls around. I am ridiculous with index cards but even more so with notebooks. If I write in ONE of my among hundreds of notebooks...I'm already planning a recplacement with 10 more. Yesterday I found comp books with the cutest covers on them and got 10. Not one. 10. And I will use every single page in one before I will consider writing in another...sigh. So much fun! ha! I try to feel guilty about it but...I've been this way since I was a kid. But, I do share, so there's that.

I like to use index cards as bookmarks. Along with affirmations, I write bible scriptures. I glue 2 together and use like cardstock.. I use index card daily for notes too. Good video

I like to "laminate" my index cards by using clear packing tape on the front and back. I use pieces of tape slightly larger than the card and then trim with a scissors. It protects them from moisture and adds some stiffness.

Sigh. I think I've moved from "love" to obsession! lol I used to use Target brand index cards (and I still do for notes and lists and other "stuff" like that. But I've recently started a commonplace card system and for that (other stuff I want to keep longer), I've found and started using Oxford Heavyweight ruled index cards. They're more expensive (about $3 for a pack of 100, compared to Targets 75 cents). But they are feel the same as the index cards from back when I was a kid (in the 1980s). Much heavier and thicker!

Such great ideas! So helpful. Those target ziplocks are perfect size. The like it brick holder is perfect size. I like this idea of folding index card in half- reminders always in line of sight. Thank you for sharing!

@keylolodale Right? A little pricey for just a plastic box. But the size and fit couldn't be more perfect!

Always purchase heaviest weight index cards. Higher end stationers will sell 70 lb cards. My system includes white, blue, canary yellow and Kraft paper beige - all unlined.

Use it as an on-the-go grocery/meal index system! One section for easy meals you prepare regularly, one section for various side dishes, the last section could be a master list of ingredients you need to have on hand for all the various meals/recipes. Or, use it to divide various goals and projects in your life (such as a section for work, home, creative projects, and hobbies). You could also use it to keep track of books if you're a reader. One section for books you've read (and you could even rate the titles, too!). Another section for books you want to read. The last section could be books you'd recommend to others.) One final idea... use it as a growth mindset tool! Use the different sections to organize sayings and quotes that resonate with you by different topics such as failure/resilience, attitude/perspective, and confidence/self-worth. Hope at least *one* of those ideas 💡 resonates with you! 😀

@@lwiener67 So glad! Truth be told, I've often found something at the store (or on Amazon) that I just love, just seems to "fit." Then, I find a good use for it later! lol Glad I could help!
