    You are right. They are doing the best they can with what they have. Also the owner may not have wanted to pay for a new spring and TOLD them to just weld it. They are the mechanics doing what the owner wanted.

    They are all workers, and they fix things because they have to, things wed throw away they'd fix. It's all in how much ones time is worth in any particular region, they can't afford to buy another, we couldn't afford to repair those same things because of the time.

    Proper attire, work boots, power tools, and all the things you guys mention costs money! These people work for peanuts, and charge peanuts ( compared to the US)! Pakistan is a poor country and If you look back to films of workers in this country 100 years ago or so, you'll notice they lacked some of the protective gear . Bottom line, It's money, and regulations ! Another factor is the heat! Try working in protective gear in over 100 degree humid weather. No AC or fans! You'll boil alive like a lobster!!

  • @erikkayV

    @erikkayV

    Ай бұрын

    @@gilrimmer2368 It is absolutely common knowledge that this is not to be done. That spring is no longer capable of performing the job it was designed to perform. Once welded the way they have welded it the moment it takes any weight it will immediately compress and be unable to return to form. It is now worthless. This is not a secret nor is it the type of information that people have to go looking for in industry. Any professional welder would be aware of this. All they did was return this spring back to its original size and shape, not its original function.

    Watching this, is like a country following in the footsteps of the United States , but they have the luxury of the fact that the equipment is already designed, tools to work on equipment are readily available, spare parts are readily available, and 60 plus years of America and other countries running this heavy equipment, and developing tricks, and techniques to repair this equipment, and even updated parts that avoid common failures, I’d like to see this country, learn, and begin to build their own equipment, and take over that area of the world, and never make the mistake of relying upon other nations to keep them moving..

    Блин скажите им кто нибудь ,что пружины не варятся, так как метал отжигается и теряет свои свойства.Пружина тупо прослабнет до места прогрева и вновь сломается уже дальше по спирали.Проще и эффективнее было бы проставку какую то сделать на толщину обломленного сегмента,чем такую дичь творить. Идиотизм.

That's why i cheer up them. They will make their own car in future. They know how the parts works.

    I don't know heavy equipment repair. Is de-burring those planetary gears just a stop-gap measure? They've still lost contact surface. Seems like that will get worse over time . . . That sand has to make a harsh work environment. Working on that D8, I'd really hoped to see them clean out the inside of that cover after they drug it across the sand @1:14. Then, new seal opened, @1:17:05, laid in the dirt and more dirt sprinkled on a new seal???

    I was thinking of this too, either the replacement (or, welding/hand shaping the teeth) part was skipped in the video, or essentially all they did was removing the broken metal chips so they won't eat more teeth while rolling. Then it lasts while it lasts :)

    Why don't we just let them do their work their way without all the criticism. It is up to the shop owner to insist on PPE and to provide it. Not the workers.

    Try hiring 1 less guy and buy a good ratchet and some power tools. Really poor workmanship.
