well Hingis was just 1 year older than Serena. Hingis had her own maturing process to go through in 1999. She got humbled by Graf and the French crowd in the 1999 final, followed by a first round loss at Wimbledon and then all the media buzz about Serena rising.

It's only now she's left the game that people are truly beginning to respect and appreciate her talent. Serena was special, a one-off that we may never ever see in tennis again. Anyone that was blessed to watch her watched greatness.

Woah, woah, that is stunning to watch. To think that I had the good fortune of catching the start of their superstardom, twenty-five years ago now, I was intern-years-old, wow, I'm old lol. The Williamses had all this mental strength too, and that only grew along with their tennis. Wow. I should also add how absolutely awesome it is to watch Martina Hingis here, she was stunningly devious, adorable and to have the momentous win be against her is dramatic gold. Hingis was genuinely competitive. Beautiful.

Of course you would have faced racism also from players. You didn't even have to say it cause it was something we could feel it's happening as viewers. This came out of course as you said from the level of tennis you were producing. You simply weren't a match to anyone. Serves...backhands...running fast... All were in high level and combined. Especially serve. So... What I remember also was the final at us open with Stosur. Didn't expect she could get out with a win. There you couldn't find a pace cause her game was technically not only in high level but very difficult for you as a different type of player than hers... That's why also the match didn't last that much... Stosur s spin that day seemed unreturnable and even a powerful hit would make things easier necessarily. Amazing match though and amazing appearance from Samantha. ❤❤❤
