Yes, they do make custom and it is totally worth it. You want to experience the whole thing, not just the tip.

You can easily achieve the same isolation with the right tips. The only thing customs do better is comfort.

And that’s the best decision I made with these IEMs. It’s not just comfort, everything that you like about mest will go a notch up. You can get close with some tips but not the same thing. Isolation is just next level, I use it in flights, better than most custom IEMs because the tip on custom goes deeper, believe behind the second bend of ear canal. Can’t recommend highly enough. Great thing about UM is that you can get customs later, so buy universal and if you like send it for conversion, other companies usually ask you to order custom which is a risk if you haven’t tried the IEM or you buy universal, sell at a loss and order custom. Why can’t other companies be like UM in this respect.

Sprang for custom mkII when it came out and haven’t regretted. There have been a lot of fascinating IEMs in the same price range (or less) but I’d buy them again.

At the UM booth, they said that the bone driver is full range, not just bass.

Been waiting for you to do a review on another Unique Melody product. I have their 3DT. Great IEMs but they are big just like these are and I struggle to wear them comfortably for long periods

The bone conduction drivers actually only goes down to 500hz, the added bass is probably from a deeper insertion and better seal.

These sound absolutely amazing with CP360 or Spiral Dot++ tips. Use 1 size smaller than you normally would and really jam them in your ears as deep as possible by pushing on the vent hole

Well you have done it to me again mine are on the way.

The test drive is interesting fit is crucial and it has to be perfect in both ears. Like Z mentioned they do have to equalize. Very nice so far well will see once broken in.

Hello Z ! Do you have IEMs , which is better than HarmonicDyne Zeus ? 🍷

I have these and I can't hear the bone conductor, like I can't pick out what it's doing , it's also not an all day listen with certain parts of the treble despite it being fairly even and linear, love em all the same , sub woofer like sub base, best tips for me are the spring tips by moondrop and the spinfit w1, iv tried every single other well known tip . Also stock cable is annoying af. Unfortunately my set broke and I'm waiting 5 weeks now for the repair job

@@shashank6393 there’s a few IEM’s well under the price of the MEST ..that have taken the bone conduction route …and again the fitment is super crucial to get the full effect. The best way is to go CUSTOM ..but it has burden of additional expense and changing physical conditions of the ear canal as barriers. I have no doubt that there an End Game for most in the IEM hobby..ENJOY THEM . As for me I’m eating on the WU planar ( recently reviewed by Zeos) to add to my IEM’s stable..will go ahead or behind my S12’s 😉 Enjoy great tunes and remember it’s about the fun .

@@carminedesanto6746 I couldnt agree more with you.. They definitely need a near perfect fit for the bone conduction to show it s magic.. Though time consuming but can be obtained by Tip rolling.. hence imo they cant be called a gimmick.. just something difficult to achieve but boy is it worth it.

Zeos, listen to the "Why so Serious" track off of The Dark Knight OST. That bone conductor will do some work!

That is a ~$560 cable, incase anyone is interested. UM Copper M2. That’s more than a very good DAP. And >1/3 the cost of the IEM (I wanted to get one in 4.4mm ‘cause it looks nice. But,… nope. I’d rather have a spare DAP). And, the bone driver covers an “effects” range of 500hz-20khz according to UM.

Top 5 IEMs?

If you compare it to the Oracle mk2, you'll find the vocals and cymbals to be pushed back slightly.

What is your most expensive IEM? Dimishing returns are really hard on these price brackets. I have spend 1.000€ on a pair of used IER-Z1R, and I thought that I was out of my mind. I only could justify the purchase thinking that, worse case scenario I would sell them for a small loss. I have not tried the UM mkII, but I almost have only read good praise about them. My advice (not knowing your economical situation) would be to look for a pair of used in good state, and if you don't like them, you can always sell them, and you will have taken the feeling that you have to experience them. In my case, buying the Z1R was s very good purchase because I genuinely stopped caring about looking for the new gear. They sound absolutely amazing to me, so I don't really want anything more

The bone conduction doesn’t even go as low as the bass. In my opinion it doesn’t do anything. Still one of the finest iems I’ve listened to. The earth shattering bass that Zeos is describing is not true

Zeos messed up in the title - he has the MEST MK2 and not MK1. You can tell by the design, color, shape and silver ring around the vent. That said, the MK2 I found to have very good bass quality but not enough quantity.
