Jon was the better fighter and DC was the better man. But despite that they've both given respect to each other In both of their respective categories, Cormier's trash talk likely bit him In the ass (twice) and Jon screwed up outside of the ring but there's still no touching their talent. Jon regards DC as "that guy" and the ultimate competitor and DC regards Jon as better than all the past legends that he's beaten In the past (Including obviously himself) and regards him as one of the greatest to ever do It, and how that can't be denied and taken away from him regardless of what he's done outside of the cage. Their mutual respect towards each other as athletes of the sport of MMA, as well as resentment as people Is what makes this the greatest rivalry In UFC history. NOTE: And also It has to be noted DC retired after Jon called him out when he beat Gustafsson In their rematch, "Daddy's home DC, come get a taste".

I remember seeing/ watching DC and Jones' interview where DC said he was prepared to die in the octagon, then Jones replied, "be prepared to do that." The look on Jon's face told me that he was prepared to kill. One of the most coldest and badass moments ever in an interview in my opinion

Yeah, and the PED allegations for saying that destroyed his legacy Is also an outlier and flawed argument. As DC said Jon could've still beaten him without steroids, and still said he has no excuses for losing the rivalry. No matter what you can't disregard Jons greatness and talent as stated by DC himself, and that doesn't take away from DCs legacy either. He's the better man that won In life, but Jon will forever own him In the cage.

@@CenationHHH1225 that's a very linear way of looking at things. Steroids allow you confidence to know you're superior, firstly. Secondly, they practically allow you to roll out your gameplan, whatever it may be. They keep you strong, enduring and stamina doesn't run out as much. Steroids literally makes all the difference between a person who took steroids and a person who didn't. Why else would you take it? You know there are benefits.

What a rivalry. Jon showed in both fights he may be the better fighter but we all know DC is the better person

The amazing this to see is Jon Jones fight when he prepares to fight. After this DC fight he showed up like he thought he didn’t need to put in as much time and effort to beat anyone and it showed with his close encounters with a couple guys. Some say it’s him off steroids I believe it’s him without motivation. Because the fight against Gane he showed up ready and allegedly steroid free so you could see the difference between the Reyes and Gane fight.

i think its more the lack of ped's i once saw a video where firas zahabi "pretty sure i just fuck up his name" explain how much of an advantage ped's gives to fighters, he use the reference of "mma its a game of inch" to say than ped's dont give you an inch, but a whole ass foot of advantage, and for the gane fight well.. without taking anything from jons, gane grappling really sucks man... like cmon that was lame.

@@moisesnavarro6051 oh for sure it’s such a difference in so many ways. The main thing is recovery because these guys get injured all the time so it allows you to stay training. I don’t think Jon is on them now because he’d be ripped instead of a little flabby. It sucks because you don’t want anyone to have an advantage but if everyone’s on them like the Diaz brothers say than you’re at such a disadvantage. I do believe testing is better and so less guys are doing it today, but there’s always scientists developing new stuff that’s hidden that gives these guys an advantage.

He was 14-0 as a heavyweight and only moved down because of Cain. He absolutely ragdolled the likes of Rumble, Henderson, Ozdemier and Lewis. Had a standup war with Gus and knocked out Stipe in round 1. He's clearly the second best LHW ever, and arguably the second greatest Heavyweight too. Simultaneously 2 division champion in the heaviest weight classes while being 5"11. Olympic Wrestler with 10 KO/TKOs on his record. Losing to Jones on steroids and losing to Stipe when you're 40 is hardly a knock on him.

It’s weird to me that DC was only thought of as a “paper-champion” when JJ got striped of the LHW title, but it’s not the same narrative for JJ at HW. He never beat the real champion, and Cyril hasn’t ever been the champion. Just weird to me.

Pretty 1 sided "rivalry"

What this video failed to bring to the table is that in reality this feud between them started way before DC came into title contention Jones played with DC saying he could take him down - DC's ego being the older fighter, more experienced, olympian and undefeated in MMA couldn't handle the audacity coming from a "kid" in his eyes and set the path of insecurities we can see everytime he mentions Jon Jones. They went back and forth for a time before they finally fought that's why we see all that tension in the build up to the first fight - Even tho JJ had horrible acts thanks to his demons, DC always came up as a hater when judging him, something different from Conor calling TJ a snake way before team alpha male realized what was happening in the background.

By that same logic none of Alistair Overeems wins In the Heavyweight division aren't legit and he's not an MMA "legend" because he tested positive multiple times for steroids for all those fights before USADA came In. But many MMA and UFC fans (like me Included) still say he's a legend regardless of that.

POST USADA if you’re using steroids, to a degree that you pop, you’re taking an advantage not afforded to anyone else. I stand by my comment
