Jared (a BeamNG developer) saw a man with a Gambler 500 shirt at an event he was at, approached him, he and turned out to be the owner of the Gambler 500. Jared said he was from a video game development company, and the rest is history. Great video, I love this type of content.

At King of the Hammers I saw this person wearing some gambler merch, I was like NO WAY, I LOVE THE GAMBLER! Well turns out it was the owner of the event. So I showed him my car, we got along pretty well, then way later we were talking about working with a real event. The owner of the gambler is one of the most relaxed event owners I've ever met to be honest, plus the Gambler has such a good meaning behind it with cleaning up the forest. Plus the idea fits beamng so well, 90s cars going offroad xD. So we talked about collaborating and here we are!" -Jared, aka 'ferrettank'

I don't think people realize how long it takes to make vehicles for this game as they basically go through the same development cycle as an actual production car would to make them as realistic as possible down to the smallest details. The van is impressive and if we get more small updates with content like this alongside updates to the game engine separately I'd be much happier than them holding off content for single huge updates. Even one new vehicle is an exciting addition, especially one that's been so requested, and I am really disappointed in the community for being so unenthusiastic about something they've been begging for for years finally being added.

Thank you for voicing a reasonable, moderate, and thoughtful response in comparison to other BeamNG youtubers. Regardless, an update is an amazing step forward, even if it is not in the direction that people want it to go. I wish more people had open minds and less up front and demanding expectations like you.

i personally love 0.29 so far. i think the Lansdale is such a fun car to mess around with, same with the gambler configs. is this update the biggest we’ve ever gotten? no. but not every update has to be. even with 0.29 being considered “disappointing”, it’s still a much better update than what even some AAA studio pump out for updates. i’m happy with 0.29, and i can’t wait to see what 0.3 holds for us :)

I love the new minivan its been a car i was looking forwards to for years, and all the gambler parts are fun to play with especially with the piccolina. I feel that only 4 cars at the moment really need a remaster (Mainly the ones you mentioned in the past and the T-series). i also agree there are some car types i feel are missing from the game, light pickup, a ute, a full top convertible (would likely have to be a removable hard top), an eastern European car and others.

I don't know if any of the devs will see this, but keep up the good work!!! 0.29 is awesome and what you guys do for your game is super special and something you don't see too much, even from larger developers. the Lansdale might not be the fastest, but that's not the point. Its the most minivan and its got amazing detail and really fleshes out the game. You can't have a supercar every update! keep up the good friggin work!

I know this was posted 9 months ago but, I will say, the devs for beamng are the most consistent and community driven devs there are out there. They are open to mods, hire people who create mods, etc. I’m a fan of all kinds of Motorsport so nothing upsets me.8 understand people being kinda upset with like only offroad focused updates for a rhe period but what people need to realize is this game recently hit its 10 year mark and we are only on version 0.32. By version 1.0 this game will be absolutely unreal, they add new stuff in every update that excites me and I’m excited for more

I missed the community shitstorm, so I'll just share my opinion: Overall - I like it. And my issues with it: New van - it's great, I really like it. Gambler cars - I like them but I'd prefer to have little bit more parts to play with and little bit more "love" for other cars. I think that update should focus more on giving us more tools to create our own abominations with vanilla content. Parts we got are great but a bit too limiting considering nature of IRL "Gambler". And while talking about it - I'd love to see 24hrs of Lemons inspired update (but to give it justice, it'd need more "wear"/damage simulation for certain parts).

0.29 is my favorite update since 0.26. Not only did it add a type of vehicle I've been wanting for a long time, but it also added silly vehicles to help balance the game's seriousness. 0.27 comes second since 0.26, because it added one of my favorite maps with Johnson Valley, as well as the Stambecco which is my favorite offroad-esque vehicle in the game. 0.28 was my least favorite, but that isn't to say it wasn't good, because it refreshed the 800 Series and K Series, which, while they weren't my top picks for old content that needed a fresh lick of paint, they were definitely adequate refreshs. None of these updates addressed my content concerns (mainly remasters for Burnside and Miramar) but I still absolutely love them all. The game is so good and the dev team has kept up on it so well, that I don't think people should lob so much pointless criticism because developing a game is a hell of a lot of work. I'm excited for 0.30, whether it's a remaster or new vehicles or new maps. I don't care, because knowing BeamNG standards, it will be great.

This is the first I'm hearing that people were disappointed with 0.29 and it disgusts me. Gamers are so ungrateful and petty. This game is great because the developers have worked tirelessly for YEARS to pour their passion for automotive simulation into it. It literally doesn't matter what they decide to put in a patch at this point. Everyone can shut up and deal with it. If you think there's a better way, make your own BeamNG, and let me know how that goes.

"the players can always turn the gambler cars into race machines". That's one of the main issues with the update. It feels kinda half baked. They didn't bother with adding much to the gambler chassis. Can't put the bolide engines in the gambler bolide, just the 3.8v6. Wouldn't have taken that long at all to add but oh well. Same situation with the wealth of parts added to the pre-existing engines innthe Lansdale, none of which made it to the other cars that have the exact same engine.

To be fair, Gambler cars are supposed to be off-road focused on the first place, so I wouldn't have expected vanilla track variations. That's fair though, although I'd assume they really wanted it out with a decent amount of time before the actual Gambler 500 event, and I'm not knowledgeable of how much that'd take without it being like a half-baked mod. Would've been nice to see that implemented regardless.

basically ungrateful beamng players are mad that every update doesn't feature a new map and 5 cars. and have absolutely no idea how difficult and time consuming this game's development is. if an update takes too long, they cry, if it's too soon, and doesn't add 5 cars and a map, they also cry. there's no winning with the ungrateful.

I personally wouldn't frame it that way. 0.29 has more reasonable things to criticize than most updates, and I don't think it's invalid for people to not feel too satisfied. I know a lot of the community has kneejerk reactions with this sort of stuff, but this video is more directed towards those who can keep a level head when discussing it and and those who think through their answers more.

@feamtortress2 Well what I'm looking at is the raw effort and time involved in making the update itself. Instead of looking at what we didn't get (tire thermals, car/map remasters, and updates to the game engine), I'm looking at what we did get. And what we got was the usual, high quality work that we respect them for. A whole new (highly requested) car, some custom configs that are 100% new and unique, and if you want to count this, new tire sound improvement, 25 new missions, and new props. What we didn't get that I mentioned also takes time, and is still being worked on. It's just not released yet. It eventually will be, but when it's ready. Patience. We need to be grateful that we're even following a game dev in 2023 that isn't money-hungry and releases half baked content. There's worse out there.
