The part the rubs me the wrong way the most is the fact everyone takes the "You've stolen my childhood" thing outta context, making it seem like she's super entitled The full quote is "You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words - and yet, I'm one of the lucky ones. She feels as though she is entitled - technically there is nothing wrong with that. Sometimes we should feel entitled to things. When I've worked for 10 hours out in the sun I feel 'super' entitled to kick back and have a beer. The next generation are forced to live in this world - they probably should feel entitled to not inherit avoidable environmental problems.

I specifically used ADHD as another example because it's a disorder of executive functioning but I don't think most people would consider ADHD a mental illness or a developmental disorder. Many people with ADHD also have above average IQs, they just have trouble with certain tasks. Both ADHD and Autism were moved to a new category of "neurodevelopmental disorders in the ICD-10 which seems appropriate to me.

@@TheDarkestofHell Biologists say that there are two biological genders that someone can be assigned at birth (ignoring intersex people who make up about 1.7% of the population), on the other hand they also say that gender dysphoria is a real condition which causes someone's gender identity to differ from their biological sex. People with gender dysphoria often feel trapped and depressed but gender transition therapy can help them feel free. Yet if they end up being bullied and harassed because of people who put "facts over feelings", they commit suicide in mass. Onto abortion, it is true that an embryo/fetus is a living being made up of living cells. That is not even the question, the question is, how much value is that life worth? An ant is also a living being made up of living cells, but because it is not complex enough to feel pain or have a conscious we don't assign it any moral value. An embryo like an ant is not complex enough to feel pain, sense its surroundings or have any basic level of awareness. In reality the only value an embryo has is the value of its future and that value is entirely subjective. Therefore it should be up to the mothers' choice.

Can't make that dirty money selling coal to India and China if you're serious about fighting climate change. Renewable energy is viable but it doesn't have a long existing infrastructure like fossil fuels and it has a greater research and development requirement to reach full potential which again means less profit for the oligarchs therefore they will spend money to fight it. Even if it ends up locking in a catastrophic level of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. They seem to think that their wealth will protect their descendants while the world burns.

This video came up as the first suggested video for me today, and I just have to say thank you. This whole situation is deplorable. I don't understand how the issue of climate change is one that gets politically polarized. Even if the scientific data is wrong or misleading, why wouldn't we want to further ourselves technologically by finding renewable energy sources that aren't finite (*cough* oil *cough*)? At any rate, you've got the mind of a brilliant entertainer. Keep up the good stuff brother.

The reason climate change is political is that to fix it you need to make massive change. The majority of emissions come from industry sectors, as such the biggest impacts will come from regulations imposed that enforce environmentally friendly practices. This does not dismiss personal accountability however, as national leadership is indicative of social conscience. An environmentally educated society is more likely to enact those regulations. The same principles apply on a global level. By setting an example we encourage other people around the world to be more environmentally conscious. In turn that shifts attitudes towards positive change. Granted, where countries like China are concerned public opinion may not hold a great deal of influence over governance. However, trade relations do. As other countries adopt renewable energy over fossil fuels the markets will shift, forcing these countries to adapt to meet those demands. Sitting around saying it's not our problem enables the problem and is almost as bad as those who are causing the emissions themselves.

@Kristy Kelly That's reasonable, I mostly agree with that. Depression doesn't mean you're not a normie though, it increases the odds of it sure, but most people with depression are normies. By "not being able to make" do you mean they lack the competence to make said decisions correctly? Or that they are unwilling to make them due to them impacting many people? Because if it's the latter, you severely underestimate human selfishness and cruelty. Either way, competent leaders are generally very well-rounded people, and they're extremely rare - I wouldn't call Churchill a particularly great leader, just a leader at the right time & place. Marcus Aurelius & Cyrus the great are some of my favorite leaders and good examples of what leaders should be like.

Fun fact about depression, it affects a person's decision-making abilities for the worse. The last person you want in a position of responsibility is someone who is clinically depressed. Would you like to be sitting on a plane with a pilot who thinks about committing suicide, or have a depressed neighbor who applies for a gun license, or get treated by a doctor who is having a particularly 'melancholy day', do you think you are going to get the best medical care possible. Both of the heroes you use as examples, Lincoln and Churchill, made blunder after blunder, resulting in terrible losses and major defeats. It's only because they were on the side with the overwhelming advantages they didn't lose the war. You want a good outcome, then get 'normies' to make the decisions.

There was a protest for climate change where I live in NSW but it was on the Friday of week nine so it was a school day. Our principal said in the notices that we could leave the school at 12:00 when the protest started if we handed in a note and he wanted us to raise our voice too. Lots of kids couldn't go (including me) because their parents wouldn't let them since it was a school day, but a fill in teacher that I had in the morning had a pretty good response. She said "if you can have half a day off school when the races are on which is all about wearing short dresses and skirts, gambling and drinking until you can't walk, then why shouldn't you be allowed to take half a day off school to make a statement about something that will effect all your futures." Their arguments usually comprise of where that C02 is coming from. Which they have a point, c02 is not a purely man made gas, there are many factors inside botany, zoology, microbiology and geology that can affect c02 levels on the planet. I also think what the climate change deniers ignore is Scientists have likely taken these factors into account and humans are likely contributing to these factors such as large scale mining, erosion, desertification and deforestation.

If they're not contributing to the conversation, smile and nod and then go back to talking with the rest of the adults in the room. "don't stoop to their level" was once a thing but it doesn't drum up outrage and clicks so lets all just scream "no u" until we win. If you care about the climate, ignore those who don't, distracting yourself with them just takes energy out of you that could be used to forward your goals.

Thank you from someone on the spectrum diagnosed in my 30's. I think of it like my brain is wired differently, studies show this, it's how I think differently I'm not less in any way. Autism is not a mental illness. It's very upsetting to me how autism is used and it's allowed to be slur and society and media perpetuate it, so many falsehoods and stereotypes are used.. So much education needs to happen for this to change. We have so far to go in how we think of autistic people. I admire Greta in her determination and strength and worry about her health because of people attacking her. It should highlight the issues people with autism face. Thank you for highlighting this.

Fun Fact Plants can utilize up to 75% more co2 than what naturally occurs in the atmosphere. Greenhouses pump co2 into the grow area to boost plants growth.
