Improvisation with the Audience: The CD Edit

The Scroll Ensemble improvises with classical music, involving the audience and letting it be part of the creation of its music. One of the most extreme programmes in this sense is Game of Themes, where basically nothing is pre-determined and the audience makes every concert a unique happening.
This is done through games, such as the CD-edit. The idea is that there is a first improvisation, based in this case on a theme the audience had provided earlier on. Once that’s finished we start again and any of the members of the ensemble or the audience can say CUT at any point and suggest how to change the “track”. In more evolved versions you could even rewind, and select specific things to keep, change, transpose or speed up. And the CD itself could even be defined as "Beethoven's 10th Symphony", or your favourite track from this or that band. A lot of room to play! Find out more about our ensemble here:
