After a wonderful week in Venezuela working with the awesome kids in the El Sistema program I decided to finish the end of the concert with a special encore with my two very good conductor friends Diego Matheuz and Christian Vasquez! It was also my debut as a conductor (moment of glory), as well as Diego and Christian's first time picking up the violin in almost 10 years! Me gusta!

Wow, what a difference in sound the violin makes between the principal 2nd's violin and Ray's Strad. Not saying the skill of the player isn't important but it's clear that the sound quality literally changes from an amateur to professional sound between the two violins. It really is night and day. Never realized the importance that a strong violin brings for the player.

There's also the fact that you'll have a better playing on your own instrument. Also this violin might not be a violin for soloist (I don't know how to say it otherway in english) so a violin with a stronger and higher volume output, so you've to find other way to make the violin sound loud enough and that impact the sound ^^ but yes for sure, the Strad sound so nice. The principal 2nd violin must have been "Am I playing on... a STRAD?!!"
